Friday! Woot!

Well, yesterday was a lot of meetings and then the work webpage (where I do a lot of work through) was down and that slowed things a bit. I'm now catching back up and life is good.

I was supposed to do the dishes last night (this no dishwasher things sucks) and I didn't manage. I'll do that when I get back from the gym today. But I did get a load of laundry done and I worked on my market bag and watched TV. Buttefly was all about being on my lap but by the end she was too hot for me to deal with so I kept chucking her off.

Mel went to college practice and got home late due to a dye meeting with [livejournal.com profile] weavedancer and [livejournal.com profile] dvering but he seems much better this morning with his cold. I'm pretty sore today in the shoulders from my work out on Wednesday. Luckily today is a leg day with pushups and running. That should help things out though. I guess I pushed a bit hard wednesday though I think I really didn't 3 weeks off while pregnant is a lot to make up it seems. Oh, well.

In other baby news I think I've finally gained a tiny bit of weight. I shouldn't be surprised but I'll keep track of it. I think its mostly boob weight at this point since my bras and fitting weirdly. The belly is more pronounced and its kinda cute but all of the maternity pants just kinda slip down my butt so I have to wear the belly band to keep them in place. Sighs.

Well, today is gonna be a short day since I have to travel for work early sunday AM and I'll work a half day and then head out to go to the gym and then clean the house up. I'm feeling pretty motivated for that.

Got into a discussion on fruit cake on the SCA wide Laurel's list and I got give this recipe for Applesauce Cake. I'm betting the flavor is similar to Grandma Doodles Apple Stack Cake but I don't have that recipe.

Mama's Applesauce Cake (with my modifications)

2 cups sugar
2 cups pecans, chopped
2 cups applesauce
3 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 cup butter
4 each eggs
4 cups raisins
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cloves
(These are the basic original ingredients. I soak figs in either water or Takara plum wine, also add candied citron and red cherries...and depending on my mood, etc. may add dates)

1. Mix raisins and flour and set aside. (along with other fruit...see above)

2. Mix baking soda and applesauce and set aside.

3. Mix rest of ingredients and add to flour mixture. Add applesauce mixture last.

4. Bake at 325 or 350 for 1 hour 15 minutes.

Notes: I bake these Thanksgiving weekend. I soak them in Takara Plum Wine, wrapped in a dishtowel and stored in an airtight container. About once a week, open and resoak if needed. Ready at Christmas. (Don't use plum wine unless you can find Takara. I've also used bourbon whiskey).
