Here we are in 2011
Wow, I guess I haven't posted in a week but its been a busy week. When last we left this journal it was christmas eve.
The day before mel and I picked up Mom and Jocy (
argent_lupin's mom) from the airport and we got lunch at Beyond Bread and then mel went out shopping with the ladies while I made lasagna for Christmas Eve dinner. I have to say that that just wore me out. I made two very large pans of food due to a very large amount of folks coming over. More than we expected at first but it was nice, the food was good and it was just nice to have a house full of family and friends. Christmas eve mel picked up
fibergeek and
argent_lupin from the airport and then took them to Joe's for lunch since they were starving. Little viktor made a big hit with the girls on staff..though they were confused by a baby coming with mel. Lol.
Dinner was good, I got to finish up some xmas gifts just before that and it was a bit overwhelming but a nice night. 17 folks got fed all told. Though Jocy's eating schedule didn't help her out and she got a bit tummy sick later that night. This would be a theme for the weekend unfortunately.
Christmas morning most of us just slept in and we got the blueberry goodness that
public_shaylan makes for breakfast. It turned out perfect and we had a really nice morning of opening gifts with Storvarr, Bryan and Shanda and the family. Little viktor was so cute the whole time. I'm mean, how can he not be with this bit of cuteness?

I have to say I got a lot of lovely things and so did the podling. Momma Kemp sent some very cute clothes for the baby to wear and some toys. She also wove us placemats and a table runner and made mel a kilim for his spinning chair. We got a awesome picture of the nephew. My mom spoiled me rotten with lots of pampering stuff. I got a clarisonic skin cleaner and lots of philosphy stuff. I also got a slanket which as funny as that is..well, I'm using it now. I got lego batman, some shanda socks, a cupcake book, another building for my xmas village, a yarnswift and blocking wires (yay!). There were lots of lego's all around and mel surprised me with a lovely white gold and emerald vintage ring. Its very pretty and fits perfectly. The handmade stuff I made went over really well. Mom liked the unfinished shawl and I was able to finish off the shawl later in the week. The rest of xmas day didn't quite go as planned. Becca ended up coming down with a stomach bug and rob followed her about 6 hours later. Which left the grandmas and the aunt/uncle to take care of the Viktor. This was the longest time he had spent away from mom and dad and it was rough on the little guy. Mel did great, he's gonna be a good dad. The moms did good too. It was hard on me though since he really wanted me to snuggle with him and he tried to latch on to my boob through my shirt since I'm obviously smelling like a mom. It was also hard to hold him comfortably due to the podling bump. So by the end of the evening I was mentally and physically exhausted. Mel and mom stayed up with him and we had to let him cry himself to sleep.
Sunday dawned and Becca and Rob were feeling much better and Viktor was basically attached to mom all day long in comfort. We all relaxed and enjoyed family time, movies and just haning out. This was the plan for most of the week. Though podling was testing lots of limits of the containment field throughout the week. Oof. But it was good cause mom got to feel the kicks and pushes. My mom had a bit of tummy trouble too but we figured out it was due to all of the food she was not used to eating. Too rich etc. Mel, Becca, Rob and Viktor and I all headed to Bisbee. We had a nice day antiquing but I can say that I was having a way harder time than I'm used to even in bisbee. We did a bit of antiquing and Viktor was okay but got a bit fussy after all of the in and out of shops etc. With the weather getting colder by the end of the week we basically just stayed in. We made a few excursions out to do some exchanges and becca and I hit knit night where we got to see the lovely new Inara Eve,
meowandbark's new baby girl. Here she is at 4 days old.

Mel also made homemade polish sausage and played lots of xbox with Rob. I got a bit tummy sick due to the sausage. I think, pregnancy and pork and me are not good friends. Between some baby induced insomnia and the tummy stuff I was in bed most of friday. I got some food finally on friday night and we watched the Dr. Who marathon for a while and we all made it to midnight. Much laughter was the first part of the new year and we all slept really well. Viktor was fussy during the packing up of bags and we had a nice breakfast at Joes before we got folks final packed and then to the airport.

I have to say I'm missing everyone right now. It was so nice to have family with us. I was crying pretty good when we watched everyone go through security. We'll get to see mom in a few months once podling gets here but I really miss her right now. Heck the cats are moping cause there are not multiple laps to snuggle in.
I think part of my sad is that on saturday just before folks left I started coughing up nasty stuff in my lungs. I have no other symptoms but the cough, my nose is clear but it made a rough night of sleep last night. I got up about 730 and got some coffee and being upright is helping. I'm resting today, not at practice but the chill of being outside all day and having this cough isn't a good plan for me. Mel is at practice by now or almost there. I need to get some breakfast and put on a pot of tea. I also need to make a damn tea pot cozy this week. Most of my reading about my cough is telling me my body kicked what ever it was I had and it just expelling the junk. I will have the doc check me out at my appointment tomorrow for the baby.
So, that was the last week. Lots of family, lots of baby time, lots of just home and relaxing with the family and I still have a few days before I have to get back to work. I just hope I can kick the stuff my body is dealing with before the stress of work starts.
