Poem Meme

There's a polar bear
In our Fridgitydaire—
He likes it 'cause it's cold in there.
With his seat in the meat
And his face in the fish
And his big hairy paws
In the buttery dish,
He's nibbling the noodles,
He's munching the rice,
He's slurping the soda,
He's licking the ice.
And he lets out a roar
If you open the door.
And it gives me a scare
To know he's in there—
That polary bear
In our Fridgitydaire

The Library...

So, I've gotten almost all of the history/reference books input into my librarything and its close to 800. I still have a stack of foreign titles that I will need anya's help searching for the correct listing. That's kinda scary to realize that I'm only through 8 of our 13 book cases...the paperbacks and kids books should make things interesting. But I'm pretty confident now that we have probably 2000+ books in the house.

Now for some cocoa and I think and early bedtime...or at least reading in bed.

Things to do today...not use the arm..seriuosly.

So, I made it through a day of work...it was hard as my mind kept wandering and tasks seemed to flow around in a maze on my screen...but I got a couple of things done. After work I came home and snuggled up and got all of the pressure off of the arm. I slept for well over and hour and then woke up cold. Got some leftovers and then got the house finished being picked up. Mel was awesome had the house in good shape before I woke up. Thank you!

I knew I wouldn't be able to paint so I got the laptop out and worked on documentation for estrella. From yesterday's post I'm still looking for a a good general medieval history reference or rather a "life in the middle ages reference".

I have the following:
Life in Medieval Times by Marjorie Rowling
The Middle Ages (American Heritage Library)by Morris Bishop
Marriage and the Family in the Middle Ages (Perennial Library)by Frances Gies
Making a living in the middle ages : the people of Britain 850-1520 by Christopher Dyer
Dawn of the Middle Ages by Michael Grant

Anybody got other suggestions??

Anybody own either of these? They both look like a good overview...
The Oxford Illustrated History of Medieval Europe by George Holmes
The History of Medieval Europe (Penguin History) (Paperback) by Maurice Keen
The New Penguin Atlas of Medieval History: Revised Edition (Hist Atlas) (Paperback)
by Colin McEvedy (Author), David Woodroffe (Illustrator)

btw, [livejournal.com profile] carloche do you have that book you mentioned? It got interesting reviews....

So, if today is the same as yesterday I will probably stay home from practice and heal in a warm(ish) house..I need to do some wash of fabric and attempt to get my studio cleaned up since it looks like it will be a sewing weekend with my arm not so good. Mel thinks that it will be at least a week before I can fight...not sure but its sure interesting colors.

Now that is more like it...

So yesterday I lamed out due to my back being spasmerific. We walked to breakfast and that made things much better, loosening up. Then I made sure to stay active around the house all day and never sat for too long and I was much better this AM. So much in fact I felt a bit of a challenge today. I biked the bike path to alvernon with about 10.65 miles at 14.5 miles per hour. Longest ride in a long time and it felt really, really good. I only had once asshole driver near the base loop, but he was in a mustang so that is par for the course. Got back and got rugs on to wash and made myself a healthy breakfast. Mel's run to the brew shop for yeast and I'm gonna get things settled and finish off the C&I library section in my library thing. I'm addict, I admit it..I can stop when ever I want..which isn't now. Oh, so folks realize, I didn't get a scanner that does pictures...its a barcode scanner so I can input books into my librarything very quickly.

The game last night was good....we even got extra xp for staying on task all night..even though we hadn't played in a while. Ari brought me a mintan that fits, I just need to put buttons on it. So, hopefully today I can work on some sewing just a bit. I also have wood working that needs to happen but I have a telecon for SCA stuff at 11am and we have to go get mel's tux stuff at 2pm for [livejournal.com profile] meowandbark's wedding. Storvarr will be in town this afternoon through monday morning I think. So gonna be a busy weekend.

Friday...hmmm

Well, I awoke with my back spasming...not fun. I attempted to get it working to bike and epic failed. Got changed and we walked to breakfast. Better than nothing. Too much sitting at work this week is most of the cause...I worked 44+ hours this week. Sigh. Anyhoo...I have dishes done, laundry sorted, front room mostly tidyied, dinner planner and defrosting (curry) and well, over 100 books added to my library thing....my scanner came today....its too much fun. I have 3 books I can't find in the databases so that's not too bad..course now all I want to do is scan books...omg is it fun. One bookcase is completed (very small case). Anyhoo...need to get my fanny in gear to finish cleaning...floors need to be scrubbed, vacuuming must happen and heck I even want to dust the piano.

Good monday but tired...

Well, I survived monday...even in a smaller brain capacity state. Course people should learn that when I make weird observations, like this machine doesn't sound like it used too, they should listen. The thing I was hearing was an air leak and we found it hours after my first observation...yup, that would screw the transducers up. anyhoo...got home and was so tired I almost took a nap but realized that 1) I didn't drink water all day and 2)I didn't take my vitamins either. Took care of that and got the house mostly settled for scribble. Mel made a nummy soup but it was all veggies and I needed a bit more substance. I had a small bit of banana and yogurt and felt much better. Had a grand time showing off pictures and then we all buckled down and got things done for scribble. Folks were having a good time and we got to see some old friends like [livejournal.com profile] genkadin which was AWESOME!!!

BTW, [livejournal.com profile] dqbunny you left your phone at my house. We can bring it to the park or something or drop it off with Icka and Ysabet too.

I'm really enjoying watching the Olympics now that we have an HD tv. So awesome to watch plus the competition has been very fierce in most events. Well, time to get things ready for work, I need to call the doc to confirm what time my appointment is today and then make my schedule work. Later!

Oh, the fun I'd rather be doing...

So, after much discussion...I joined Library Thing my user name is Ianuk...

My scanner is coming and I will probably need some help scanning books soonish. The coolest thing is that if I get everything, then I can look at it on my ipod while in bookstores.
