More WW and other tales

This will all be random but things I want to not forget.
1) The camp spot we had was right next to authentic encampment and we know folks there and it was nice. They complimented our (in my head ghetto) but in their head much better attempt at period than most folks.

2) Ralph and Scarlett are always a hoot and we need to have them with us next time. Even though Ralph is stubborn and doesn't want that but liked it when he had a table to cook on while we were at court. My dude...

3) Chatting with Countess Gwen about fabric since she had just picked up the same silk brocade I used on my pelican. She also just got her Pelican in February!

3)NS fighting conventions are not 180°, its confirmation of engagement. Mel got caught on that one. oops. The guy was super nice and mel totally felt bad.

4) Fiber people are just going to congregate. The scribal open area had no scribal going on but 3 folks spinning. So I sat down and chatted. There is a laurel from canada who I've interacted with over the years around the US and she just has to be right. Its exhausting. I will remember her name eventually cause she and her husband are RV folks and come to WotP so I really should remember. But the rest of the folks were lovely and we had a nice time spinning. One of the gals was in an assistive chair cause whe she stands her PB goes to like 160. They have only been looking at her heart and not like veins etc. I suggested having them talk with vascular folks and they haven't had a table test yet. But they were happy someone listened to them and have things to chat about and we figured out when shes at home working she lounges backwards with her feet up all the time. Yeah have those legs looked at. I'm also the person who has compression socks, even when its hot and I look stoopid.

5) NS folks are not used to people traveling with a full mixing bar. I'm a west coast duchess that is how we roll. Being able to serve the queen of NS a G&T easily was awesome. Also, having NA drinks like carpi suns made one of my fave countesses super happy.

6) Becca made kolache with chicken, sweet potato, curry and spices. They were the perfect food and we had extras to hand out to drunk folks. Definitely doing that next year too. Becca will be sending us the dough recipe and she made it dairy free for me.

7) Photos of WW

8) Benton did a good job at archery helping Nikolai and other kids get their stuffies. He did not bring one home for himself. He also gave his main prize away from Kittens versus Lava to Nikolai since he had that set of legos already.

9) my new aprons worked well but I didn't get any photos of me wearing them. I'm sure I'm in photos but no idea who was shooting.

10) The cuts to the parks and bad decisions ruined the north rim

11) fire near my MIL (3 miles east) but in the last few hours it got well contained and they brought the threat level way down but people did lose homes and property. Okanogan County Active incidents so that was a spike of stress

12) my phone is dying and missing the texts etc. the battery gets hot a lot. I will put in a rec for a new one when we get home. Its 5 years old and taken a lot of abuse so we shall see.

But yeah those are the things.

Not dead just wishing it in some ways...

Well, work has been work.  I've told both my department and my program boss that I would like a new job.

I don't deal with stupid well and well, things are stupid.

The week we spent in Michigan was both horrific and pleasant.  I got lots of good family time with the KEMP/HUCK side of the family and I got to meet more of the Kemps but the days were filled with gross work and a lot of crazy.  Mel's gma was a hoarder. It wasn't gross in the way you think, not icky filth but just stuff. Stoopid stuff in some case. Scary stuff in others (creepy moldy dolls).  Lots of dolls and clown stuff.  I made a comment to the goodwill folks during one drop off of "we did not bring you the creepy dolls" which the nice young girl just thanked us profusely for.  We emptied a 1200 squarefoot house in 6 days using 5 adults into 2, 40 foot long dumpsters, 5 truck loads to good will, 2 van loads to good will and we shipped home 11 boxes and other stuff went in a trailer to SC with the in laws.  I came back exhausted and with a new appreciation for purging all of the things.

Pics of the trip are on my flickr if you are my friend....its family so its locked down.

UPS did a hum dinger on the one and only thing I really really wanted from teh house. THough their may be other treasures we haven't found yet (like another singer featherlight like Becca got).  I got a 1950 in bentwood case Singer 99-13 British Made sewing machine.  Its had a bit of work done over the years with a new motor and light but she looks in working condition even after they packed it wrong and munched it.  The machine is okay. The case...well, its gonna take some doing to fix.  Luckily I insured it...a bit over insured but still.

Pics of the damage and the pretty machine are here:
Sewing Machine Damage

I also got my new ink this week. Which is healing nicely and is now annoying and itchy.  Done by Sanctity Tattoo here in Tucson by Tracy.  He did a great job. I'm so pleased.

LJ Facebook/Twitter work around to get rid of the annoying boxes

Originally posted by [livejournal.com profile] beren_writes at LJ Facebook/Twitter work around to get rid of the annoying boxes
stolen from [info]pombagira who pulled it from someone else who pulled it from yet another person :) Yes, this is signal boosting.

Passing this along from my flist.

Thanks to [info]midniterose, here is how to stop the crossposting of comments/entries from LJ to sites like Facebook:

There is a way to disable everything. Here is what you have to do:

1. Go to your "Journal" menu, and select "Journal Style"
2. To the right, you'll see what theme you're using, with a link stating "Customize Your Theme". Click that link.
3. Scroll down a little ways, and you'll see that on the left side of your screen, you have multiple options to modify your theme. Click on the "Custom CSS" link, and it should load the options for doing Custom CSS.
4. From here, all you have to do is go to the "Custom Stylesheet", and put in that line.

.b-repost-item {display:none}

once you have it pasted in there, save changes.

Feel free to PASS THIS ON!!

ETA: This prevents the "repost to FB/Twitter" ticky boxes from being displayed when someone comments on one of your posts. It seems to work, UNLESS the person is viewing your page in their own journal style, in which case it might not work.

ETA2: Inserting the code below in your custom CSS box reportedly works for more kinds of journal styles, including custom ones (this courtesy of xnguard):

.b-repost-item, FORM#qrform > TABLE[style="border: 1px solid black;"]:last-child TD[style="vertical-align: top; text-align: right;"]:first-child { display: none !important; }

Wednesday and a few things got settled.

Taught some coirkers the joys of "special snowflakes" and we realized today that Toni doesn't have just one "special snowflakes" she has a "special snowdrift". SNERK.

Work was battling. I spent most of the afternoon doing pre-work for my trip next week. It was drawing reviews and listing questions I need answered. It was dull but needed. Then it was a telecon about said trip and well, yeah, special snowflakes. It will be cool though..since I've never been.

Still waiting on my other vendors to respond to us. Its a big deal and I hate waiting. Left work and hit the gym. Did the third workout in the circuit set. Oof. Wow. Hurting during that but I did a small bit of cardio afterwards to work things loose. I felt good though and that was a good thing. Left and drove to knit night and it was lots of fun. The sock was well received and I helped out the other work Toni to figure out what she was messing up on her new project. She was forgetting to bring her yarn forward to purl and it was causing a yarnover. Pretty easy to fix and she got it and off she went. Was glad I encouraged her to come so we could figure it out.

Also, ITS A SMALL WORLD....so we got to meet [livejournal.com profile] spunkybluegirl's BFF Jennifer who works as an archivist at the same place as [livejournal.com profile] swordmage and a lot of the ladies at knit night also work there. How crazy is that? Though Jennifer and [livejournal.com profile] swordmage don't know each other but they all have people in common. Weird.

Got home pretty exhausted. Wow, the work outs are tuckering me out. Its a good thing though. I sat down and watched tv with mel and I got the top of my trim done and then my brain shut off. It was time for bed. Read a bit more and then was asleep until the alarm went off.

Busy day of meetings today and then home to finish up stuff for crown. I'm gonna get my dresses done and hopefully get another cap cut out. All good and then early to bed.

Thursday was...

a revelation. But that is another post. I got home from work, worked on my knitting and then worked on a few other things like balling up yarn for my next project. I worked on getting all of the demo and crown pictures uploaded and they are on my photosite (see link on the left sidebar of my lj). Took some good ones and that makes me happy, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cowboy_r for getting shots while we were in the procession.
If you need a direct link:
The Demo
Fall Crown

I got the new itunes loaded on the laptop and that was nice...household sharing is good. Then it was time for bed. I'm almost done with Assassination Vacation and the parts of McKinley are getting a bit more political than I like but it history I know nothing about. I really need to read her other books cause man does she make it interesting.

My horoscope for today is Maintain communication, no matter how irritating the other person is. Consider an image change and how to make it possible and well, that is very apropos since I have to deal with an unreasonable person at work most of today to get things done for Andrew. I'll be all nice and smiles and hopefully that works. I have a dentist appointment today that I didn't know about except google told me...the email got spammed on accident...oops. Then it will be home to clean up the house, put laundry and new clothes away and get laundry going...cause our bedroom needs to be picked up...goodness its a mess. Plus all of the detritus from the weekend is still in the front room.

So, on to work and haggling with drafters.

Here we are at Monday...oh, actually its Tuesday isn't it?

The weekend was good...I didn't get everything I wanted done but I got most of it. Though, I didn't bike and that has me a bit sad..I was just tired and sleeping in was nice.

Today I leave for Chicago. Kinda worried about the flight out since I can't get a seat assignment online yet which means I can't check it. I think I will call the airline and try to do it that way so I don't have to worry about a seat. I have another potholder to work on (I get to start it in transit) and a book and my ipod so I should have plenty of things to keep me occupied the 4 hours I'm in on an airplane today and tomorrow.

I've run out of space on my ipod due to all of the podcasts. Once I get through this next set I'll be able to only listen to the "new" ones. But its weird to be out of space. So, it will be nice when we get the new iphones which are rumored to be bigger.

So, I'll be in the windy city tonight, be working there tomorrow and coming home tomorrow night. I'd have come in on Thursday morning but we leave in the afternoon for the fiber retreat and that would suck for timing and I'd been in a mode of transportation for way to long. Its gonna be a latish night tomorrow but it will be worth it. Well, off to not kill a drafter.

Black friday

Well here we are at [livejournal.com profile] meowandbark's house for second dinner with the college crews. Got up this am and had fun with[livejournal.com profile] public_shaylan and we hit joanne for flannel and then target. Mel is happy cause we got the star destroyer on sale. Joanns got my receipt all effed up but we got it worked out. Then it was breakfast at joes and then home for projects. Mel spun. I worked on the last ornaments for Twila and on gifts. I made another necklace for myself and a pair if earrings. Shanda worked on embroidery and Shanda's mom worked on crochet. It was a really nice afternoon. We're watching folks play left 4 dead. Very neat.

This week has been brought to you by...

[livejournal.com profile] reynier's coffee...seriously...this is like the 3rd morning mel has made coffee for us...I'm almost hooked to do this everyday. Hmmmm....Course it does help if I don't crossthread my coffee cup lid after a refill from the thermos and spill it on my pants...sighs.

So, yesterday my headspace was the foul...many factors are playing against me at the moment, the least of which is time but work has been its own sugar coated version of hell. Why upper management decided that 4 people needed to be 1 I'll never know and I'm not impressed at all with the "new boss." We shall see in time but I need to get my feelers out to move programs...its about time. My head hurt so bad and I was nauseous when I left work. I headed to glenn's and got a good treatment and an admonishment about broccoli for the next few weeks. Sometimes glenn is weird but he's never wrong so eh. I will avoid broccoli...green peppers are nummier any way.

So, I was a bad girl but I stayed home from kung fu to recenter myself and get a few lingering things done...it took me many hours to get into a better headspace but my OCD helps with that. I got zippy's scroll done to a point where I was done and got it to meg. I made pumpkin cider bread for a potluck at work, I packaged up the 14 qts of chili for war (with a bag specially for [livejournal.com profile] duchess_asa to have as well). I punished the fruit cakes some more and boy do they smell good!
And then I relaxed (as the doctor ordered) with the hubby watching tv and planning our evening out on friday for our anniversary. Due to our wacked out schedule and mel's cute forgetfulness things were piling on top of our actual anniversary (Saturday). I also got permission to go to see [livejournal.com profile] syele become Princess of the Mists in November. Gonna be a fun trip as an escort to HRM Atenveldt. Then I practiced some viola for a while and I almost have all of the fingerings set for the coronation piece. Mel likes it and he can tell that I'm getting back into the swing of playing. I need to find my old viola teacher...he had a symphony solo written for him by the guy who did the Dark Shadows theme and it was cool...course his last name is eluding my memory right now. I need to call my mom to see if she remembers...his mom used to bank at my mom's branch. I dunno...I'm happy I'm getting back into music...I think I've been needing it. I think after southern I'll schedule the piano tunings for the next year or so and my tuner will be happy. Getting back into it will be good for my hands.

Anyhoo...waxy nostalgic doesn't pay the bills. Work must commence some more and after work it will be a quick trip to joanns for buttons, working on my armor before Victory Hall.

Thursday...1 day till pennsic

Well, I got my tuchus out of bed at a bit before 8am and got on my bike after calling wander for a wake up call. I rode my normal route to joe's and managed 16.1mph...omg it was great. Had a nice breakfast and as I was leaving wander arrives. That's okay. I made her coffee and breakfast at home and we've been having fun chatting and breaking open on of my piggy banks. Looks like I won't be able to bike with Bertana at pennsic due to incompatible pedal shoe combos. Sighs...that is okay...I'll be walking a lot and I just need to watch what I eat. So far I figure I've lost about 12 pounds but many, many inches. I'm almost done with laundry and then I can start packing in earnest after a few errands like the credit union, kinkos and target. I have 2 projects left to go and they are fun and easy and can be accomplished after the most of the packing. The dishes are almost done and the house doesn't look too bad. Just need to start laying things out and double checking lists. All good.

Thursday...was tiring...

Well, I got things really moving in the morning and then completely lost momentum by the afternoon...and then I stumbled upon Questionable Content. Yeah..lost some time there. Got home, though the girls had destroyed the couch some more only to discover that it was some of the fleece that [livejournal.com profile] lissamc had given ivan a while ago that he had been combing. I slept for I'm not sure how long but I groggily answered the phone and that got both of us up and moving. It was 630 before we knew it and vallurwulf came by to look at the championship mugs. Mel and I trundled off to kung fu and it was a hard kicking night. I was pretty pumped when we got done but really tired and my lungs were doing the twingy thing which means my asthma isn't happy with me ATM. eh. Got home and richard was there vegging watching tv.

We all got enthralled by watching Evelyn Cameron: Pictures From A Worthy Life on PBSHD. Very cool lady. then it was Iron Chef America and some duff. We all realized it was uber late and I think I was in bed by 11pm. The newest Queen Betsy book is kinda odd...I have no idea where it is heading. This AM I really didn't want to get out of bed. I'm still tired and hoping I can make up some hours today but I'm not too hopeful. Sighs. Thats okay. Its FRIDAY!!! woot! I'm so glad. I hope to get lots of embroidery done during the weekend, get some derby time, shanda time and all and out fun. So, here is to making it through the next 8 hours or so without killing coworkers.

Its a Ducky Day at the Kemp Residence

Well, after an enjoyable and non lethal gaming night I slept like a log until butterfly was annoying at about 8am. Got up sometime later and then got to joe's. Had a great breakfast and got to laugh while watching jackie break in a new girl. Got home and took down the holiday decorations, got the table cleared and Anya showed up late but just in time for me to finish the decorations. Gallant and Ivan had been working on beer and were at the brewing store. Anya was fantastic with the translations I needed and I got lots of good information from a few of my books for my masterwork. Had a grand time. Ari showed up in the middle of that and ironed and cut out fabric for the coat that she and I are making [livejournal.com profile] american_knight for an Estrella Wooby. After Anya left I got sewing machines settled, dishes washed and boys harrassed. Then we sat down to sew. My kenmore from Master Feomir acted up and we had to switch to one of Patsy's kenmores. It was giving foot issues to Ari but she beat it into submission. I have to finish the lining and then sew the lining to the exterior tonight and get it hanging up for a few days. I also need to go shopping for milk to make cheese. I did accomplish getting the new land measurements transferred to papers for 2008 and mel and I need to figure out a few things before I start the layout.

I guess its been an okay day but lots d10 phone calls on various stuff throughout the day was kinda tiring...usually all of the war nonsense doesn't take effect for a few more weeks but I guess its in peoples brains now. Oh, well. I need to let dinner settle. Run to the store and then finish up the sewing and get towards things being packed up for the morning...its gonna be early..even with me being rested.

Ah...friday

So far today I've: slept really well, got a nice bike ride in, learned that you shouldn't pull thorns from your tire, had a nice breakfast, changed my bike tire in about 15mins (my second one ever), made beads till I ran out of O2, read some of the internets, weeded and sprayed the front yard, partially sewn my new svista. Not a too bad of a day so far. I will be sewing and cleaning up the house for the next bit...though I have the urge, while I'm sweaty to go and get the tank refilled since I will be making more beads this coming week. Mel has been weedwacking the back and side yards, gone to the brew shop and been a nice husband who didn't laugh at his wife when she blew her own tire. Yeah, thinking a quick trip to pima welding is a good plan. Oh, well, on with the day.
