They're gonna clean up your looks
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you, son
So they can watch all the things you do
Because the drugs never work
They're gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you clean
They're gonna rip up your heads
Your aspirations to shreds
Another cog in the murder machine
Chorus:
They said all
Teenagers scare
The living shit out of me
They could care less
As long as someone'll bleed
So darken your clothes
Or strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone
But not me
The boys and girls in the clique
The awful names that they stick
You're never gonna fit in much, kid
But if you're troubled and hurt
What you got under your shirt
Will make them pay for the things that they did
With all the lies in the books
To make a citizen out of you
Because they sleep with a gun
And keep an eye on you, son
So they can watch all the things you do
Because the drugs never work
They're gonna give you a smirk
'Cause they got methods of keeping you clean

Jul. 21st, 2011 10:20 amGrateful Dead - "Touch of Grey"
Must be getting early, clock are running late.
Paint by number morning sky looks so phony
Dawn is breaking everywhere, light a candle, curse the glare
Draw the curtains I don't care, but it's alright
I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive.
I see you've got your list out, say your piece and get out
Guess I get the jist of it, but it's alright
Oh well anyway, sorry that you feel that way.
Every silver linings got a touch of grey
I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive.
It's a lesson to me, the ablers and the beggars and the theives
The abc's we all think of, try to win a little love.
I know the rent is in arrears, the dog has not been fed in years
It's even worse than it appears, but it's alright
Cow is giving kerosene, kid can't read at seventeen
The words he knows are all obscene, but it's alright
I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive.
Shoe is on the hand that fits, that's all there really is to it
Whistle through your teeth and spit, but it's alright
Oh well a touch of gray, kinda suits you anyway,
That's all I had to say, but it's alright
I will get by, I will get by, I will get by, I will survive.
It's a lesson to me, the devils and the East and the free
The abc's we all must face, try to save a little grace.

I read the news today oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of Lords.
I saw a film today oh boy
The English Army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
but I just had to look
Having read the book
I'd love to turn you on
Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
and Somebody spoke and I went into a dream
I read the news today oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the albert hall
I'd love to turn you on

Dec. 8th, 2009 08:40 amSo, yesterday was tiring but I got lots of work done. I almost have all of my rewrites of my reports that were do last week done for this week. Some data we found on thursday was trying to cast some light on our failures oddly...like the structures analysis wasn't supporting it as a cause and well, we had to prove it...so, thus I had to re-write things...on all 3 reports because of how they tree together. 40+ pages of reports written by me from 2800 pages of data. yeah, its been a chore and a half.
So, I get home and mel is being tired and lame and heads to the couch to watch What Ancients Knew and I end up sitting next to him to relax and we both fall asleep for about 30 minutes or so and the cats want us to stay there. He gets up and works on dinner, I get up and clean up the front room to have room for the music rehearsal. Folks arrive and we hammer out the music for 2 hours. It was productive but I was very, very drained by then end. It was late enough that dinner didn't even sound good, so I worked on mom's gift and headed to bed early.
Slept well and did not want to get up in the cold rainy wind. But i managed and then I also managed to leave my lunch, which had been my dinner the night before on the counter at home. I hope the cats like it.
Le Sigh. Oh, well. On to Tuesday that is feeling like a Monday. Plus, I still can't find my silk dyes...grumble.

Well, night 5 of sleeping like hell. I should just stay up..seriously. This is getting old. I've gotten such crappy sleep that I can tell its affecting me. I'm twitchy and my response time is pretty slow on somethings. Wow. Kinda scary that.
Course last night during scribble I was trying to remember a song I heard over on Pandora that I was suprised was done by Nirvana but when I finally found it today it was originally done by The Meat Puppets which makes sense now...I'd never heard the Nirvana version.
( Lake of Fire )
I <3 that song. Dunno why but it was fitting for the conversation of Death Cow for Craven and all of the demons we kept finding in pictures. Very funny. Well, I did get my house more picked up with the thanks of Ari's awesome vacuum. They do make the "ball" version which is cool and I will probably be putting in an order on overstock here pretty quick. Just kinda a crazy night all in all. Nothing felt right and I was struggling with my calligraphy something fierce. Dunno, probably the insomnia talking. I think I need to hit the yarn shop and pick up another skein of yarn to finish the project currently on the hooks and just relax. Dunno. It will all depend on what time I get home. I didn't arrive home until just about 6pm last night and I'm not sure what is in store today. Lots of stuff.
We shall see though. I need to start training hard on the bike and that will mean early rides on Saturday and Sunday before the event. I'm okay with that since we have san diego next week and no bike time.

Another day in the saddle.
Sep. 17th, 2009 07:42 amWell, work was busy...I'm almost done, completely done with two reports and found out i have the data to write a 3rd...sighs. But my part of things is almost done and I can get back to my normal job...hopefully.
Got home a bit later than I planned and I got into biking gear, charged my phone up and headed out. I did the same route as yesterday...the bike was clicking oddly in high gear, not grinding but I'm not sure what is up. I'm lacking in bike maintenance skills and that is the suck. I think I might have tweaked something taking it out of the car on tuesday. not sure. Did the ride. 6.5 miles at 15.0 mph, including a big head wind. I almost put another mile or so on but the clicking was driving me bonkers. Hopefully,
reynier can give me some help on that. Got home and had dinner and got changed for knit night. Kung fu just didn't appeal and I was tired and a bit saddle sore from the new seat. Its comfy but I can tell its different.
Got to knit night and it was small and subdued but that was okay. I relaxed and enjoyed the company and ignored the fact that the Ashford Tekapo is on sale. I might not ignore it Friday. We shall see. Got home and realized that I had done two rows completely wrong on the hat and had to tear it back to the brim. Sighs. Its a bitch to frog back to due to the yarn. But I managed to do that, re-ball the yarn and get about 8 of the "pebble" done on the redone row. It makes much more sense now by that point I was uber tired and headed to bed.
Mel had a rough evening...he was tired and when I came home he was running a low fever...lots of water, Vitamin C and meds got him better for bed. Not sure how he slept but he was still tired this morning.
I got going for work on time and headed out. My ipod was being rather quirky. It played Uptown Girl, then So it goes by Bill Joel, Breathe by NIN and then Irving by Dr. Demento. Isn't that odd?
Well, onto the engineering. Thank goodness its Virtual Friday.

Do anything...
Jun. 2nd, 2009 11:45 ambleah. Tired and achey and allergy icky.
But on the bright side, I got new music last night on the Ipod (INXS, Jane Child*, TMBG) and another episode of Stitchit! Course, that is in the car...I'm in work and can't listen to goodness, sighs.
Oh, and I'm way behind on books!:
#13 - 11 on Top Working for Rangeman...lots of fun hijinks and I don't think Stephanie blew up a car.
#14 - 12 Sharp Some discontinuity from the last book, she's not working for Ranger but gets involved in the rescue of Ranger's daughter from the bad guys. Neato.
*Yes, Jane Child...it was the first tape I ever bought and I've missed it. Lots of funky in there...course the next things on the buy list include: The Kingston Trio, The Travelling Wilburies and Prince. I'm eclectic.

Itunes and the new genius stuff....
Nov. 25th, 2008 09:46 amokay, so has anyone else besides me played with genius? Seriously, on the ipod touch its just a touch of the button and you get a playlist based upon the song that is currently playing....it is so cool.
So, then since I'm weird I think "Well, what is it baseing the choices on?" I just wonder. Now reading some of the scuttlebutt on the internet most folks are talking about what itunes does and the like but what about when I'm just using my pod? Its not hooked to the internet...so what is it doing? I will have to try to break it with odd songs and see what happens...that has been the main complaint about the system. We shall see though.

Wednesday was cooking with gas...
Oct. 30th, 2008 07:18 amWednesday was too busy with meetings to get anything done. Sighs. Left an hour early to head to the ENT. The diagnosis is the same, I have swelling in the middle ear and they think that a long term use of a decongestant will clear it. They are also sending me in for allergy testing but do comment that its odd that its not it both ears. My hearing test came back better, so the steroid regime did something. So, I get to pick up a decongestant to take for the rest of the year and see how I do. Not the solution I was hoping for but I'll try it and see what happens I guess.
Did not get done until 445 and had to be at Cecilia's for practice at 5pm. I called cause I knew I was going to be late. Got there about 515 and was early...guess stefan thought it was 530pm. Eh, it was good. Ran through the song twice and it was good. Even better than the ending times on tuesday. Yay! Then I ran to joanns and picked up foam for my helm and a picture frame. Then I was home, dropped stuff off and got pizza for the crewe.
Mel was working on Cecilia's shoes and
dqbunny and
ickaimp came over to help with my dress while I worked on Cecilia's dress. Things were running smoothly until the buttons wouldn't fit the button holes...careful cutting got them working and I'm sure wear will help them too. We got all but 6 buttons attached and my hood is completely done (with bell even). Seriously ladies...thank you!!!!
I should have stayed up and finished the sleeves but well, I just didn't. Got woken up at 4am by the weirdest noise. Mel got up and investigated and it looks like our neighbors to our north got a dog and it was dragging its dish around their patio...talk about weird. So I slept okay. Almost done with my coffee too which I'm sad about...I forgot my travel mug at work so I only get one cup of
reynier goodness. Sighs. But that is okay. I can survive. So on the things to do its not too bad.
So, time to get ready for the first meetings of the day. Sighs.

This week has been brought to you by...

So, yesterday my headspace was the foul...many factors are playing against me at the moment, the least of which is time but work has been its own sugar coated version of hell. Why upper management decided that 4 people needed to be 1 I'll never know and I'm not impressed at all with the "new boss." We shall see in time but I need to get my feelers out to move programs...its about time. My head hurt so bad and I was nauseous when I left work. I headed to glenn's and got a good treatment and an admonishment about broccoli for the next few weeks. Sometimes glenn is weird but he's never wrong so eh. I will avoid broccoli...green peppers are nummier any way.
So, I was a bad girl but I stayed home from kung fu to recenter myself and get a few lingering things done...it took me many hours to get into a better headspace but my OCD helps with that. I got zippy's scroll done to a point where I was done and got it to meg. I made pumpkin cider bread for a potluck at work, I packaged up the 14 qts of chili for war (with a bag specially for

And then I relaxed (as the doctor ordered) with the hubby watching tv and planning our evening out on friday for our anniversary. Due to our wacked out schedule and mel's cute forgetfulness things were piling on top of our actual anniversary (Saturday). I also got permission to go to see

Anyhoo...waxy nostalgic doesn't pay the bills. Work must commence some more and after work it will be a quick trip to joanns for buttons, working on my armor before Victory Hall.

Got to hear this a lot this weekend and got to hear the band chat with The Edge while on the drive to coronation. They are fun and ended up having a Fivel moment and singing Somewhere out there.
