A&S was fun...
Aug. 6th, 2006 09:10 amWell, friday after some drama we got to kung fu where I finally, finally figured out back falls. yeah...but of course now I hurt. We then got home and showered just in time to get a phone call from Katelena for dinner. We met her, her friend Julie and Kathleen and Ryan for dinner at Intermezzo and then we headed to 58° for dessert. Lots of fun. Good converstation and a good way to relax into the weekend. Got the rest of the stuff we needed packed up and then we went to bed. Got up and were out the door on time to get ot Sierra Vista though both mel and I had tummy troubles from all of the rich food from the night before. Got things settled but my cooler kept dissappearing. Got my entries ready and then we had a short stand up court. Then I snarfed a quick breakfast and headed off to judging. I judged the decorative arts and glass categories. Lots of pretty stuff this year. Lots of entries this year too which was really good considering that local A&S competitions have had abismal turnouts. The day progressed as usually happens. Played cards with the girls, richard shared ice cream numminess and then we finally, finally got to see the entries and get on with court. We had court outside which being atenveldt in August is a novelty. BTY kept cheering for all who placed, which was quite a few. I didn't place anywhere but I know I was in the upper parts of my categories considering my cheese got one perfect score! My buckles were too simple to compete against mel's drawn wire pins and of course, they weren't creative either since, well, I made a replica (though mine doesn't say Desert Eagle, ha!). In the end Lady Cecile De Bertginy (spelling?) our vary own Ysgy won. My scroll was given out to Baron Seamus's group for performing arts and Mary Rose carried it around so folks could see it. Whoot! We ended the day at Chilli's with Zippy, Monkey and Richard. Lots of hilarity insued including the waitress bringing me two mugs of beer and a straw! Those are memories that I will be saving for quite a while.
Looks like the Hinkle horde will be descending on my house about 11am for Middle Eastern Costuming How-to for Rus Girls. Hopefully we will have a Jules at some point too. I'm hoping to get everything ready (at least cut out) for ME feast which is in 2 weeks. But first I need to clean up the house and do some of the de-clutter since mel and I haven't been keeping up with things, the guest room and the craft rooms are war zones and need a good straightening. So, off to make with the cleaning and making sure my husband gets his baron butt to Mons for fighter practice.
