ianuk: (happy)
Friday I got off work early and was able to sort through my glass, hit some errands, make mustard, clean the house and be ready just in time for guests to arrive. Game was interesting...dragged out affair. I think we were being too cautious. Made two necklaces. Gave one to Mary.

Saturday was sleeping in and then sewing while Mark and Kate went off to the big and exclusive gem shows. We got to the children's museum right on time and had a fun time at the demo. Teaching 5 year olds parts of forms was fun. Mel then changed and we headed out to the Pueblo/days Inn shows. I spent a lot...but it was money saved and well spent. I think I got: coral, carnelian, amethyst, quartz, labradorite, lapis, tiger's eye, adventurine, jade and a few more things. Like a jade budda pendant. We got back just as richard got back from a lowe's trip. We showed off our wears (mel got lots of disks for whirls and a couple of antiquity whirls). Then Mark/kate and us all headed out to Intermezzo for dinner and then 58° for dessert. Unfortunately, dessert was uber limited but the beer and sake were good and life was grand.

Sunday I went to work which only last about 3 hours. I got everything finished I needed and was able to hit home, grab breakfast and go to the Rio Grande show. Wow!!! They demo all of their stuff and there were free stuff everywhere. We spent a bit of money on things but its with mark's discount. Things should arrive wednesday. We stopped home for lunch and paperwork. Then headed to the TEP show where we didn't get much except lots of tools at kent's and a prezzie for [livejournal.com profile] argent_lupin's b-day. Then we headed to the convention center for the Main show. Wow...I've never seen so much sparkle in one place. I don't think even Vegas can compare. Wondered around for a while and had a coffee then showed mel a jeweler I liked. Nice jewish man who was selling antique ring settings (no stones). I found one I really like and go it and then we hit the main floor and mel bought me a sapphire to go it in. We just need to get the ring sized, re tipped and set. Kate was annoyed she hadn't brought her tools cause she would have set it right there. Its really pretty and in total cost us a little over $300. Mel was happy since it didn't include any diamonds. We then oogled the opal beads that I have been coveting and found the dealer for. Not as badly priced as I figured and now I've got a card. Course you get weird looks when you are the assistant to an antiquities dealer. We then headed to The Grill for dinner. Good food, they had boddingtons and good conversation. Got home, rested and then kate and I made beads (her apprentice is a lampworker so we traded tips).

Got a call from my aunt jackie (the crazy one) and they are in phx for 4-6 weeks. They want to see us and we've tentatively scheduled things for the last weekend of the month. Ugh. She is the crazy aunt who a week before my wedding wanted to do my flowers, veil and sing in the wedding. She does sing well but its a very, very high soprano and its all churchy if you get my meaning. Her comment when I had no desire or knowledge of mexico was "you must be to busy to shop!" Yeah. I can get get good food and trinkets in Tucson thanks and it doesn't involve paperwork. Then I sat and worked on dresses and mel was not helpful on a hem of the heavy wool viking. Almost got that all ready for final sewing.

We missed meg and jake's party but we have guests and were having a hell of a time. Mel got a couple of topaz to cut. I need to remember to stop by the credit union and get cash for mark/kate though...spent more than my limit..but that is okay.

Gonna get home, clean up the front room and kate said she would help me with the banner. Hopefully I can get it pin and sketched out and some of the gutta started before I leave for scribble. Plus I want to get a bike ride in. I'm going to be skipping FP tomorrow night, cause there will be no melee's and just authorizations. I need to finish sewing, do more beads and be home. Not much of a home body these last few days. And since Estrella is 7 days away for us (we'll be on the road to site next week at this time) its going to be a busy week.

To Do List for Estrella )
