Well, its been eventful week. Work was sad and annoying and epic. I'm almost happy to be going to NM for work Tuesday thru Thursday this week...but I'm annoyed that I'm missing project time and I have nothing small and pressing to work on. Sighs. Southern Scribble has lots to do in the next 3 weeks. We have to makes some progress and I've been trying to pull my weight but that's getting ahead of myself.
A&S was odd. Lots of good things: nice site, perfect travel partners, funny apprentices etc. Weird things: hey, folks...prove to me its period...seriously, mkai? I had the strangest judging experience where I had too many of the same things to judge...which had my brain twitching and mixing info..which made my judging take longer than I wanted but made me tired. But I survived, did some more calligraphy, got to chat babies with Grainne the Red (who is expecting) and in general be very happy. I was uber happy with the outcome of the competition. Bran Padrick was the winner and then they offered him his laurel. This was also very squeeful. He's been such and inspiration to Ivan and I and his dedication to arts and his luv of the science behind the metal (metallugist modernly) that having conversations is fascinating. He's gonna be a great addition to our order and he's so humble its cute.
We then had dinner with Elizabeth, Storvarr and Finnian. Sioux, Ari, Mel and I had way too much fun travelling together and well, mel had his "I'm an Ass" button on very early in the trip. But it was a good but grueling trip. We got home at midnight. I went immediately to bed and we got up at 730 this morning to head to the demo in Sonoita. We got to site about 10am which was very nice. We set up, Ivan spinning and me doing scrolls (see note above). I got almost completely done with three of the four I had. It was a good demo, lots of folks to talk with and I got to hang out with people I usually don't ever get to see...The Mistress's crack me up. Seriously.
I'm gonna sit down here and get the last scroll started. I have to come up the scroll text for
zippydclown and I'm almost there...just need the Southern critque. So, I hope I can accomplish many and great things this week and still have a good week. Hopefully the work trip will be fruitful for corrective actions to annoying issues we've had and all that jazz. and now..back to making my hand cramp fro $100, alex...
