Weekend thus far...
May. 19th, 2012 10:48 amFriday was pretty crazy...it started off well. I worked for the time I needed to to get my hours in for the week and things were productive on that front. We had a quick lunch and then mel and I hit up the theater and saw the Avenger's and that is when things went weird. Walking up to the counter to get the tickets my ankle went OUT. I put it up at the theater and massage the muscles in my foot that were cramping up...it felt better after the movie but still ouchie. We then headed to get iced coffee and go antiquing when I realized that I needed to bring the car in for its bumper repair part 2. I left mel at the antique mall and off I went.
I figured it would be quick to drop things off and it was. I got the rental car and took the time to install the car seat only to find out that Impala's don't do rear facing tethers. The seats sit too close to the floor. I had to then drive the rental to the rental place and go through 5 cars before we ended up with a dodge caravan that worked and I drove across the street to pick mel up who was very concerned about me. I had forgotten my phone so I couldn't explain what was going on. Trying to explain to the rental car folks at the end of their day my issue was just crazy and annoying. American car companies really need to get with the European LATCH standards and put the floor tethers in place.
Got mel and then we headed out to pick Benton up who had had a really really good day at daycare. He was uber filthy too which was okay since it was bath night. I made us stuff on the grill for dinner and Benton nommed on half a cheeseburger and edemame. He loves green vegetables etc. Went to give him a bath and his onesie had about a half cup of sand in it and his diaper had about a quarter cup of sand. Obviously he had fun at daycare in the sand box. Oof. The bath water was disgusting when we were done and then he was out very quickly after turning off the light.
I sat and knit while mel and I watched tv. Mel reset my ankle even though it was a swollen mess. We headed to bed early but I managed to stay up way to late reading. I finished book #10 of the year The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The ending was awesome and the writing was compelling. I know some folks were disturbed by some of the subject matter but honestly, you must not read much if some of that surprised you. The world is a sick sad place at times. I really liked it and will probably read the next book after I go through a few more in my stack.
So I was up really late and my ankle is still puffy and kinda numb in the middle. Gonna try to get it more stretched out today. We shall see how that goes. Benton got himself stuck on top of the baby containment field when he got up on his workbench and then it fell down and he was stuck. Poor kiddo. Well, he's now down for a nap and its time for me to get a shower and get things going for the day. Lots of knitting to finish and then some cosplay thinking to work on. We shall see what I get done.
