Getting back to being physically active.
Sep. 16th, 2013 07:50 amWith the last few weeks I've not felt great. Mel and I felt that maybe we've had a bit of altitude sickness after Battlemoor. Having Benton sick was trying for us and just long hours at work and things just kind of eat at your immune system. But last week I pushed through the bleahs and got to the gym. I didn't feel much better after going but it was good for me. I've been running faster and that is good. I had a weirdo shoulder thing going on due to me sleeping oddly. Seriously, why would I need to be grabbing onto the headboard with my arm all cranked above and behind my head? So a spasmy shoulder etc makes things odd. Anyhoo, I ran on Monday, felt more than crappy on Wednesday and just went to knit night. On friday I worked hard and then was determined to go to the gym. I made it and managed to do my full chest and arm work out, goblet squats and core and then ran hard. Bob thought I was going to fall over and I did feel like that but I did good.
Saturday was discombobulating with needing draino for the dishwasher and getting going later but
lferion and mel, Benton and I all headed down to Parker Canyon Lake for the March of Weahhlnutu's Masked Revel. It was a gorgeous site and though very sparsely attended we all had fun. Benton manged to bang up his hand pretty good tripping on some stairs but we hiked, went on a treasure hunt, had court and had a very tasty potluck feast. The hiking was to hike down to the lake where Mel was fishing. He caught 6 fish with a modern rod but 2 of those fish were on period hooks. He couldn't get a cast out long enough on the period rod he had made since he had to cast off the bank out past the weeds. The hiking wasn't too bad but when you are wearing period shoes (thank goodness I wore rus boy clothes) and have Benton who is exactly the right height to get smacked by the tall grass its a bit arduous. Shoshana and Griffen came along with us too and we had a good time on the hike. I had to do 1 legged squats to get me and Benton up a section and thank goodness I have been working out. It was gorgeous though. Right before we left I found a very tiny King snake in the ladies room...eek! He was more scared of us than we were of it and he skittered off and under a board.
I'll be posting more pictures to this album as I get them back from people Masked Revel 2013.
Sunday morning we got up early and got the bikes ready and we all met up with Mary, Matt and Sara for a bike ride. We headed down the bike path and got about 4 miles when mel's derailer cable completely shredded which left him in 1 gear hauling Benton in the trailer. We went further and then turned around and the way home was up hill and into the wind. We had to stop and fix his bike into a better gear. We made it home and Benton had a good time but was a bit over heated. We had not put the sun shade down on the trailer and will for next time. It handled well though and was really comfy for him and he had a good time. We got really quick showers and then headed to Pump it Up! for Holly D's 5th Birthday party. Wow, what a fun place! If you ever get to go it is the most fun I've had at a kid's bday party in a really, really long time. Its not just for kids, adults can play too and the fun our group was having was the bomb! Seriously, watching Ari and Malius race an obstacle course was hilarious (read that as Matt cheated!) and even though mel and I had biked 14 hard miles it was still fun!
Got home and put the boyo to bed, had lunch and then mel crashed for a nap while I cleaned house. Its been in a serious disarray since before battlemoor and needs some scrubbing. The studio and bedroom need it next but that will happen later this week when I get coronation clothes going. The scribes came over to work on Shoshana's laurel and we got a good chunk of the base painting done on it. Next comes bridget finishing drawing the miniature and we can get to painting some more.
Ben woke up from nap a bit icky. He was not feeling well and ended up puking up his snack. I think he'd had way, way to much sugar and excitement. Got him to bed and he ate breakfast well so I think it was really just an over exciting weekend.
Mel and I hit bed early too and Benton must have woke up about 530am due to being hungry. Poor kiddo. But I'm feeling okay except my legs are starting to be very sore and my sit bones are completely telling me all about my bike ride.
