SCA Happenings in the last few weeks....

Greetings to Our wonderful populace!
We have just returned from a wonderful time in Caid at Great Western War and want to capture here in a missive to you the delightful times we have had in the past few weeks.
On the 5th we traveled to Pillage Plunder, Poke and Pluck in the Shire of Grand Holme where there were delightful rapier, armored and youth tournaments and a scrumptious feast. The weather was perfect, the grass was cushioning our feets as we froliced in the early autumn breeze.
Much thanks to the populace of Grand Holme for their tasty victuals, fabulously personal gift baskets for ourselves and little Benton and especially for the desserts! The sinfully rich Heaven and Hell cake was quite the treat!
We were pleased to award Lord John Micheal Midwinter and his Lady, Lady Anastasia of the Three Oaks with Flowers of the Desert for their accomplishments in cooking, cosmetics and teaching of the arts.
We then were delighted to create Muirgein Ó Conchobhai and Justin Louis DeCourteney as armigers of Atenveldt for their service to the shire and their Kingdom.
This past Thursday we sojourned West to the Kingdom of Caid through desert, plains and mountain passes to the verdant green of Great Western War set aside a tranquil lake. We were greeted warmly by Caidians, Westerners and our own Atenveldters upon our arrival. We were quickly set up with our tents and beds and enjoying the camaraderie of our friends and family.
Friday dawned early due to an excited Benton who was thrilled to walk the site, play with sticks and Barons, grass and fake flamingos and enjoy the stories of the War. HRM Ivan spent the day shopping and catching up with old and new friends in the fiber arts area of the A&S collegium. There is even tales of him repairing a spinning wheel! HRM Ian'ka spent the morning and early afternoon on the rapier field with HE Deletha, Lord Takago and Don Simon. Then it was time to get a bit of shopping, visiting with the Fiber arts tent and then playing an epic and giant game of Jenga to the delight of passersby where she beat Baron Bruce Draconarius, the Batonvert Herald Extraordinary of Caid and longtime friend. Throughout the war your Queen was entitled the “Queen of Jenga!”
Friday evening while on the way to the many vigils (5 in all!), TRM opened court in merchants row and presented Lord Anubus with his belated scroll for his Blood of Fenris from Pennsic War and then awarded Lady Amazonia Longa, proprietress of rapier swords, daggers and equipment to many from many kingdoms for many, many years with a Beacon of the Desert for her service.
Saturday was another gorgeous day and the hardsuit fighting was fierce. We began the day with Knighting Sir Franbald of Loncastre on the battlefield with King Sven of Caid at our side and HRH Morgan brandishing King’s Victory. Atenveldt joined forces with the West to battle our friends in Caid throughout many challenging scenarios. The fighting was target rich and the valor of Atenveldt and our Western comrades was epic. The Grand Court that evening was full of joy, tears and Bork!Bork! as many deserving gentles of Caid received accolades. It was excellent to see the customs and traditions of Our cousins as they made new Peers in their populace and they graciously allowed us to open a small court where we called forth Lady Mineko of Twin Moons and Baron Zhighmun of Tir Ysgithr. We spoke of their generosity with their arts; Lady Mineko for her gifts of pottery and Baron Zhighmun for his gifts of casting coins, tokens and the like. Lady Mineko was welcomed into the Order of the Flower of the Desert and Baron Zhighmun was entered into the Fluer de Solei. Then TRH Morgan and Livia spoke of the hospitality They have received while in Caid and how they would love to have the opportunity to repay that hospitality at Estrella War. As court ended HRH Morgan raised his glass and Atenveldt toasted Caid as family.
We want to thank our scribes for giving us wonderful scrolls to hand out while we were in foreign lands. We are a special kingdom where every award recipient is given a scroll and it was evident how special that is to us this past weekend.
We also want to thank all of the Atenveldters who traveled to GWW. Thank you for helping us setup and strike camp, attend us, help wrangle Benton and the other children and in general be awesome.
