Odd but fun evening.....
Jun. 1st, 2016 08:30 amWork is nuts but I have 2 days to do lots of things including rather dry training and updating paperwork I have to fill out every few years but this time they want more detail than I've ever seen. Weird but true. Got to the dojo to pick Ben up a bit after 6pm. He was so tired and had played video games all day and was zonked. Poor kiddo. We had also forgotten was his backpack with his turtle blankie and Ellie. They are his companions forever and there were tears and pouting and "I'm so tired momma!" while trying to get him home for dinner. Got him to eat a goodly amount of pasta and then got him snuggled in bed. Mel came home and after chatting realized I didn't know he was home for the evening since he was skipping fighter practice. That meant I was able to run errands.
Its amazingly hard to find a one piece slip that isn't shapewear now a days. I feel like my step grandmother who opened a fabric store in SD so ladies could make their own under garments. I may have to look into patterns cause I would love to make my own 40s bloomers and slips. I found one and some hot pants style not quite shape wear for under skirts. I have some nice ones to wear when I'm doing tighter clothing but I want simple slips and long boy shorts to keep the thigh chafe down. It looks like simplicity has Burda Style Lingerie which would be fun to try I think.
Anywhoo...I hit Kohls and got a few more things including some faboo jewelry for my Athena costume. I'm not a gold jewelry wearing person since my skin tone is kind of yellow but I guess I got enough of a tan this weekend to make it look not too bad. danabren containing our Hydra Cheer Uniforms arrived as well. I tried mine on and found that the skirt fit (barely) and that I now have a spare skirt. I had looked at the measurements when we ordered and had gotten 2 so now I have a spare skirt that I think I will turn into a cobra skirt. With my cobra tshirt, fishnets and my boots it will be cute.
So me in the outfit....thank goodness I was wearing hot pant already since I was wearing a dress to work.
Ari also dug out her laurel leaves and some owl Jewelry. When I got home I put it on with my stuff I had bought and I found a veil that I thought would drape nicely and it works perfectly. Mel is making my spear tonight.
Then I worked on things in the studio and attempted to learn how to use my old style hemming feet on my sewing machine. I think I figured it out when I got in the shower though and will have to try it when I get home tonight so I can finish the hem on the galaxy skirt and put on the 2 tabs for the waist band. I did reinforce teh zipper stitching and finish the edges on the waistband before I got into a long text convo with HE Magdalen on an upcoming event.
Short story is there is conflicting info about an event. Got things handled though and that was nice. I have a lot to pack for the con but it should be okay. I will handle that tonight and get my makeup/hair stuff handled. I will probably also pack garb to see if I can help out with the booth and paint for a while to show off the art aspects.
