So, you can go back and read my very short post from Thursday since it posted privately? I guess I was going to write more and forgot or something. Had a nice work happy hour for our retiring chief Gary. Bob was also heading out on vacation so it was nice to have a beer and food and chat with folks. Friday I got up early adn worked on some proposal work while watching Moana and then into Zootopia. It was nice to sit and work in quiet with some chaos from Spicy.
I got a massage which was so welcomed after a month without one. And came home and rested in the bedroom where it was cooler. It was so hot. Got motived to make dinner and when I had just about started a monsoon came in and knocked out the power to almost 60k people. It was nuts. For video of the storm coming in see from
July 28th Monsoon U of A Hydrology Camera. That video is over 1 hour of time. So the power poles just north of Dom and Willa's house broke and fell into the apartment complexes on all 4 sides of the intersection which shut down a major street and we were part of
Power outages. oof. Some 300 people still don't have power so I consider us lucky it was only out for 7 hours. It could have been much worse but I couldn't sleep until the fan turned back out. Oof.
So with the power out I couldn't read but I pulled up my Kindle to see what I had downloaded to read and found Kiss of Christmas Magic which was a $.99 set of 20 paranormal romance short stories. Is it good? meh, is it fluffy sexy times fun? yes. yes it is... so I've been reading that through the weekend. I will get back to Lore Olympus this week. But its been hot..ugh. And the cooler is just not hacking it. I have take more cool showers this weekend than ever. you don't even need hot water on to shower now. bleah.
So, Saturday we were all lumps and I had to figure out what I was wearing to Middle East Feast and I tore my studio apart looking for the vest for my Zatana Bollywood costume. Never found it and my studio was a war zone to deal with at a later time. We headed out at 1030am with a stop off in Casa Grande for culvers (hmmmm fish sandwich) and then to the Nile Theatre in Mesa. It was a smallish venue and it was hot...the AC was not keeping up. The heat in Phx was like 112 that day and yeah. Laurel's circle was nice and we left right after court. Ari, Mason, Benton, Mel and I were all just tired, hot and wanted cold and comfort. So we headed to all places Cracker Barrel. It was good food, plenty of Arnold Palmers and some shopping and we got back on the road to home. Got home and we had just missed another monsoon but had power so didn't care. Spicy was super happy we were home and was absolutely made of chaos. Lol.
Sunday I slept in a bit and really should have gotten a go at my studio earlier in the day when it was cooler but we had Costco and a big of school shopping. I proud to say I only went to Office Depot for school supplies. Their prices are better and while selection may be limited they had everything we needed and I got a matt for my studio floor for my drafting chair to roll on. Then Benton and I met Ari, Mason, Benton and I went to see Haunted Mansion which was a delight. Seriously fun...a bit more spooky that I expected but really good in tying the whole story together and if you are a big fan of the ride the fan service is all there. Seriously. All there. Danni Devito is amazingly funny and I want that house...seriously.
Got home to turkish food mel had made and then a quiet night of tv and playing video games. It was a good night (wink). I did finally pull out my blender which I had gotten from Mel for Xmas when I was up with my mom. It is wonderful and I made blended Moscow mules (ice, lime juice, limeade, vodka in the blender, top off with ginger beer). So good and the darn thing is very quiet. Very glad and when I have more brain power I will do blended piƱa colada cause there is juice etc left over from the tiki party.
Today I will wash towels and sheets cause its time. We also have Benton's School Orientation. 7th Grade..wow. School starts Thursday. Wow. How is it already August (well tomorrow).
