Here we are at 2024 and an anniversary
Jan. 8th, 2024 04:55 pmWell, today is my 23rd year of working for the same company. Its weird to think about. Its also my first day back at work since Dec 13th. Which is the longest I've taken off and wow did I need it. Seriously, needed it. It was nice to not have too much to do but I still managed to stress myself a bit and not get things done. I didn't get the van in for service or call wall people or call my step sister about land but yanno...I will get to it. Probably this week even. I was just overwhelmed and got a lot of things done but not the whole list.
Things I did accomplish and have fun with:
1) made mock apple pie
2) made DF pumpkin pie with my own harvested pumpkin
3) made a 30s cocoa pie that was super rich and DF
4) Made rhubarb pie
6) Finished mel's xmas socks
7) Ordered our new pavillion since Panther is closing
8) Booked travel for january to see the BIL/SIL step up as local B&B there
9) replaced shower curtains/liners in both bathrooms
10) Transferred an old 401k to a new location and got it invested
11) Finished a hat for jackie
12) finished a toy for Ruby
13) finished spinning some fiber
14) replaced my spinning wheel drive band
15) had everything wrapped/shipped well before deadlines
16) started taking yoga
17) slept in
18) almost finished a dead fish hat (needs eyes) got the nephew
19) cut out 3 dresses for myself and started sewing
20) relaxed
I think other than a migraine due to weather moving in over the weekend things are good. had some ups and downs with things. I got new exhaust fans for the bathrooms which ended up being an adventure for Mel and another day at work for me. Lol. So those damn fans are not made to be replaced until you redo bathrooms. They are installed sideways into the joists. He did the guest bath first and had to put a very large whole in the ceiling to get it done. His patch job is..meh, needs some work. So he was prepared for the second one where he got me a fancy one with a light and a bluetooth speaker. Which honestly is awesome. He was prepared until he took the old one out to find that they never hooked it up to the vent stack. It was just venting into the not really attic space with the vent stack about a foot away...NBD right? well the output from the exhaust was pointed the wrong way...so I looked it and the space and went to our local Ace Hardware. I got everything we needed for a flexible pipe, clamps and 4" to 3" neckdown transition. I handed things to mel and he 1) didn't believe I was back so quick and 2) it was all exactly what we needed and fit perfectly. honey, I have this awesome degree in just this kind of thing. Thank you for my new exhaust fans! Mel still need sto finish the drywall work but they are so nice and quiet compared to the ones that were original to the house.
I've got sewing to be done and I have to make Benton a coat for the war. He has enough tunics/pants but a coat is needed. his old one is too small. I have plaid wool and it will be basic but should be warm. I just need to get it cut out and sew. More tomorrow.
