Well friday was game night and we manged to not kill any of the lower level adventurers that we were playing (its the other party in our county) much to mel's chagrin. Had a great time playing with ari and I think she is a great and much needed addition to our team. Went to bed way late and then got up way to early to head to phx to see Mughi and some of the college crewe for lunch and fun. We finally got to go to 4 peaks brewing...really nummy food and a great beer selection. Then it was home to watch a few new video games and then change to head to the event.

The event was way crowded than we planned...guess we didn't need to try to pack the spinning wheel. Had a good time, lots of good food and fun conversation with folks. I took lots of photos and got to understand the "polaxed deer" look on Phillipos's face for his Laurel offer. It was kinda an homage to Ivan's offer cause it looked like a queens grace but it wasn't..so cool. We left just as the dancing was starting and had a nice time chatting with storvarr and duncan at their house. Then we travelled to mughi's and had fun watching games like "trapped" and then I was told to go to bed cause I fell asleep on the couch.

We got up on Sunday and it was all good. We got on the road and to site just about on time. It was way the heck out west of phx and estrella mountain park. Wow. I stretched out a lot before we got started for the day and it was a very, very good fighting day. Lots of great drills where chrispen and i rocked as a team and then lots of good battles. The last bridge of the day I took a glaive shot to the forearm. My hand went numb for quite a long while. Mistress Morgana check mobility to make sure I hadn't broken it. I got help dragging stuff off the field and out of armour (which is a bitch one handed) and was ready for court with an ice pack. Mel was still on the field with the commanders and Corynne got barked off when she told them it was time for court so mel was late he had to duck in and get settled during an award. Funny. Thanks to Corynne for being an awesome lady in Waiting and to Golda for getting my hat from the car.

We left after mel got some pickups on the field and headed into phx to have dinner with mughi. Rockbottom was awesome as normal and we had a nice dinner. I did get enough visits to get a hat but they were out for my Mug Club stuff but I'm sure we will be heading up there sometime soon. After that we headed home and I dozed a good chunk of the way. After showers and some old iron chef america I was in bed. Course I luv my mom for the pedicure spa cause I soaked my feet and that was so nice right before bed.

This morning was very much a Monday. We got up late as planned and mel was off to work well before me. I got my lunch fixed and packed and was hunting for my purse and couldn't find it. Realized that mel hadn't brought it in last night and that my keys were in it. Oops. So I called mel's work number and left a message, made coffee, admired my new microwave shelf, rearranged a few things in the kitchen and called again. Mel had just gotten to his desk. So, he drove back to rescue me so I could get to work. He was happy to get kisses again and that I'd made coffee. Instead of being 30mins later than normal, I was a full hour. Then to add insult to injury, one of my passwords, the one that lets me onto the internet expired. Ooops. Had to call IT and they were swamped since the west coast region was having outages and tons of people were just starting the year today and having issues. Oh, well. I'll call this my 8 hour day.

Btw, Blossom...do you think you could come over this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon to help with a few things? I have banners to gutta and xmas stuff that needs to be put away..you game?

First, I want to state a heart felt Huzzah to the autocrats of the
Phoenix War Practice for a great site, with nice grass; to the War
Kitchen for wonderful soup for the fighters; the waterbearers and
chiurgeons for taking such good care of us and to Sundragon for
providing tent space for court and a very good event. Huzzah!

Second, I want to commend each and every person who was on the fields
yesterday, whether it be hard suit, rapier or archery. The looks on
all of the faces while at closing court were that mixture of
exhaustion, adrenaline and mirth that can only be seen after a hard
day of fighting. Looking to my right at my husband Ivan and to my
left to Baron Thomas as they (and myself) struggled to stand up during
court made me realize that a good day was had by all. The warriors of
Atenveldt shine.

But something was missing that made the day not so bright. Mayhaps it
was the threatening weather around the kingdom, maybe it was the
allure of fantasy worlds powered by joysticks and keyboards or maybe
it was the plague of sickness that kept many of His Majesty Eduard's
army at home. What ever the reason, our numbers were small and that
is a sad state to be in this few weeks before war.

It is now that I entreat you Atenveldt to shake the rust off of your
armor, clean up your blades and check the fletchings on your arrows to
show Their Royal Majesty's Eduard and Asa that the Army of Atenveldt
outshines even the Sun! Atenveldt is lucky that our weather is fair
and we can fight whenever we please in our land. Our enemies fight in
barns and schoolhouses to attempt to prepare for the War of Heroes and
the War of Valor!

Come out all to the fields of Florence this Sunday and the parks of
Tucson the following Sunday. Bring your friends, carpool for good days
of fighting in weather that is only better in Vallhalla!

See you on the field.
