Monday was pretty good...
Jun. 8th, 2010 08:48 amWork worked out well. I got more tasks and that makes me happy. I got done and headed to the gym. Chatted with the work hubby out in the heat for a bit. He's had truck issues over the weekend on his trip to flagstaff that sucked. It was so hot walking to my car that I could feel the skin on the back of my arms (side facing the sun) desiccating and probably getting some UV burn. Wow. Seriously, where did the hot wind of the Sahara come from all of a sudden? I know I live in the desert but I think I'm in the Sanoran...I hit the gym hard...and it was hot in there too. They are going to be building us a new facility which would be good...there is no air flow in the ladies locker room unless the door is open. It was hot and stuffy and I pushed really hard to get things done and was more hot. I did manage sets of benchpress at a reasonable weight so that is good. Got done and headed out into the heat and it was not refreshing outside. I turned the AC on high in the car and drove home kinda limp and exhausted. Got home and mel was just heading out to kung fu. I had to clean up the house for scribble and I think I did a reasonable job in the 1.1 hours I had to do it. I got the floors swept and mopped, the carpets washed for the bath and kitchen, the carpets vacuumed, the stove cleaned, the dirty dishes as least soaking and the counters wiped off. Not perfect but doable. Got changed into work clothes and then made a nummy omelet of presciutto, cheese and cilantro. Served it up with some salsa and enjoyed. Had dinner with Bill and Sarah and Faydra and then it was time to get working on my commission scroll.
I'm finally working out how to conceptualize the shapes of things to get things to sketch out. Ari did a quick impromptu lesson on how to draw hands and legs which I'm sure we all learned from. I got the second minature done and then I was kinda just done. We had a good scribble though. Lots of good work was accomplished and I ended up sitting watching bill and mel play Borderlands and working on the blankie. I'm now more than 50% done with the body but I will need to push hard to get it done to be able to ship out this weekend.
Got to bed late and well, I slept but I had lots of dreams. Got into a discussion on another journal about steampunk yesterday and I'm not a steampunk person..I'm a gaslamp fantasy person. I like where Victorian elegance meets engineering. I like making things appear normal but when you really look things are not. I'm not about the grungy, scruffy aspects of things of the genre and if I really wanted to have pirates I'd be doing pirate stuff. I don't and I don't need to see any more pirate crap in my steam than I do in my SCA stuff. Its the artist in my who is chatting with the engineer in me. I guess my aesthetic is off. Eh. what else is new? But it did leave me uber tired this morning all of the thinking while I was sleeping.
That is okay though...better tired from a hard day than tired cause I didn't do anything.
