ianuk: (walking pig)
Well, I managed to put in 8 extra hours last week of work but still needed more so the laptop came home with me. I had planned on working on friday night and saturday AM but things kinda didn't go that way. Friday I was tired when I got home and very brain drained. I managed to do some grocery shopping and knitting on friday night but that was about it. I was pretty wiped. The big bummer of friday night was that our eletromelt casting furnace stopped working when mel went to cast his second piece for the big commission. So, he came home grumpy-ish. This project has been hitting roadblocks since it started and he was frustrated about it. On the good news front the concrete guy was coming on Saturday to work out the pour.

We headed to bed later than I thought we would but I slept really good. The girls didn't want us sleeping in though and we got up and had breakfast and watched some tv. I headed to the shower when the concrete guy came and then after admiring the setup I headed off to grandma's spinning wheel for the Conjoined Creations trunk show. They had lovely stuff and I picked up 2 shawl patterns (1 knit, 1 crochet) and the yarn to do one of them. I liked their patterns but I'm not really plus sized (even while preggers) anymore so I held off on getting the book. It did make me realize that any sweater I do make is going to have to have big adjustments made to the torso cause no one seems to build things for me and my 5" between hip and ribs. Not that I didn't know that but it was really obvious.

I stayed for quite a while chatting with the regulars and then headed off on what I thought would be a quick errand...yeah, not so much. I stopped by the large big lots on tanque verde and found some popup hampers and a baby calendar and some other things. Then I headed to target to figure out what I needed off the registry and to add things to it to finish it off. I came up with a closet organizing idea and I was happy with that and found a couple of cute things to add to the registry as well as some stuff for me. I got home and found out that Bran Padriagh had a plan for the casting so mel was going to be heading to phx on sunday like planned. Which was good. I think I sat and knit and we watched tv while I did podling laundry. I got everything separated out into sizes and put away in the dresser so I can now see what we have.

Oh, and somewhere in the weekend I finished Book #4 for the year "Raven's Shadow" and now will be finishing up reading baby books. I think I'm going to tally #5 as the "Mayo Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy" and #6 as "What to Expect When You are Expecting". I'm now on to #7 which is "On Becoming Babywise" and #8 will be "What to Expect in the First Year". Plus any other books I have waiting...its quite a pile.

Mel spent all saturday doing the finish work on the piece he did cast on friday and was pretty beat by the end of the day. We managed to make it mostly through the 3rd Bourne movie before we tuckered out and headed to bed. I slept okay not as good as other nights but it was probably my subconcious nagging me about all of the things I had to do on Sunday. We slept in pretty good for us on Sunday almost 830 and then had showers and headed to Joes. Mary was back in town so we got to chat with her and had a really nice breakfast. Got back and I took the carseat and base out of the car so mel would have space just in case he got a bookcase at IKEA. He headed up for what I thought was a casting day and I worked on work work.

USA was playing an Indiana Jones marathon and like Star Wars not being about Star Wars but about 2 droids, like Hudson Hawke really being about getting a good cup of cappuccino, I'm convinced that the Indy series is all about the hat. I got two solid hours of work in and finished up one verification plan and then headed out to what I again thought was going to be a quick trip. Sighs. I managed to get everything at Target we needed for the baby and me. I ended up scanning in with the store gun, versus my phone, items to the registry and then putting them in the cart for checkout. On the way to target I managed to hit another big lots and got 3 more of the hampers because our current sets are trashed and these were way better made. I also scored a baby book that I really liked for $3. Yay! For future reference the one on tanque verde has a better toy selection, the one on harrison has better baby stuff. In all of this mom and I had been playing phone tag and we ended up finally connecting while I was in ace hardware picking up closet rod and CLR. I sat down at a rocking bench in the outdoor furniture area and chatted with her. Then it was home to get the closet rod installed.

Richard was in the shop working on his bee hives and I got him to cut the rod for me and then I finished trimming it on the sander after a few fit checks. I then got the closet completely rearranged, put things away and got the nursery more in ship shape. I then realized that the recycleables needed to go out as did the trash after I finished up getting dinner on. I got the dishes all done except for a few big pots and when mel got home just before 8pm dinner was waiting for him and I was working again on work work. I realized while we sat and were watching tv that I had really over done the day. My right sciatic flared up and I was cramping up a lot. After my shower mel got the muscles to loosen up pretty good and I ended up sleeping with the leg really propped up to get the pressure off of it.

It worked pretty good and today I'm stiff and I can tell its unhappy but I think a trip to glenn will fix that. All of my joints are shifting. Mel was working on my shoulders and my scapulas are just floating around. Very bizarre...gotta love hormones. Well, its monday and its the last one for work I will have until June. Its so surreal to think about. This will be the longest break I've had from work in a really long time.

But I'm sure it will be awesome, tiring and rewarding...kinda like work.
