Projects Ahead!
Jan. 24th, 2013 08:21 amWell, this week has been busy with painting. Ari and I were getting set to run a class on her linen painting technique and we got the handout completed from taking notes from watching Ari do it. Its really helpful to do that for anything you are trying to teach because at times you do things and don't realize that you do them and an outside observer can ask "why did you do that?" and it makes for a way better class.
We hosted TE and a few heads of house to show how to do the banners. We had the Hrafn pennants I've been working on and my personal banner as exemplars. We taught them how to do the base painting by using my unfinished banner because hands on is really important with this technique. It worked really well having multiple examples and now I have my banner base painted.

Also last night I got my plan for Ivan's new fighting tunic and for my crown outfit. I'm finally cutting into the handwoven fabric and making the front hanging apron panel for my hangerrock. The fabrics are gorgeous and I have been buying small trims to make things just right. So excited but need to buckle down and get it worked on.

Other than that we've had a good couple of days. I managed to get to the gym last night and did 3 full circuits of the quick workout room. Basically 9 machines, 45 secs per machine with a 15 sec transfer/rest time and we did 3 times through. It was hard and I enjoyed it and I got out of there in good time and then picked up dinner and home with enough time to clean up the house some, play with Benton and relax before folks arrived for the class.
Benton is quickly picking up more words per day. Over the weekend Kev gave him a Skylander named VooDood and weird words are now on the docket. Today his new weird words were Zepplin and Herring. Zepplin was from mel's satchel having a one on it and herring was from listening to Henry the IV Part I in the car.
