ianuk: (here's looking at you)
The weeks leading up to Pennsic were crazy. Mel was on Jury duty, I had a major program review and lots of stuff was hitting the fan. Middle East Feast was a lot of fun...it was a long day but we had a really nice time. We had meetings, meetings and more meetings but they were good and well attended. We had a few issues where we had to lay out the law to some folks but everyone was cordial about it.

We offered Franbald knighthood and I got to give out a queen's grace to Greta.
Travel to Pennsic went really well. We picked up [livejournal.com profile] swordmage86 and Domnall at their house and checked in really easily. Getting all of our luggage in the xterra was a bit problematic. Flights to chicago were good but getting food in a timely manner to get on our plane was problematic. The boys were the last on the plane and our texts and phone calls did not go through to them at all. Sighs. Oh, well. Got to Pittsburgh had to convince the car rental agency that a jeep was not big enough for us and our luggage. Hit the superwalmart for a few vital things and then headed in to site. They had changed things due to not allowing us to park on the road and troll took us a bit but we got our medallions and then were in Soviet Block N10 (see we are Tsar and Tsaritsa...the soviet jokes write themselves, ask us about the breadlines!). The Crown tent was all set up and our stuff was inside and they had setup and MADE OUR BED!!! holy cow!!!! Lisbetta helped me get things unpacked and ready and then we got dressed and hit dinner. I ended up heading down to Vlad's at some point and hung out with people. I know we did more on Friday night but a lot of it was boozey. I finally got to drink after my self inflicted dry spell to help with the weight loss and it was glorius. I really like Yuenling's Black and Tan...so tasty.

Saturday we got up and got more things arranged and did a bit of shopping. Walking around as a hat is strange. Especially since we are wearing the old Byzantine set that no one in the Knowne World has seen. We had quite a few people just royally (ha!) confused. Ivan and I also look good I think so people notice the accessories, the jewelry and our embroidered shoes. I did manage to walk my heel off of my shoes and now have to resew them. (I should do that before this weekend...oops). Our first big thing was heading to the commander's meeting. I was running late since I also thought there was a mixer but it was good. Got to deliver a thank you not to the Baroness of Shattered Crystal who was greeting people at the gate and thank her personally for one of my white scarves. We got the low down on opening ceremonies and there was much worry about it getting rained out. But it all went off very well. West and Atenvelt unfortunately didn't get the opportunity to get heralded in since the heralds were a bit discombubulated from a change in plan (I'm sure they thought we were to be in the barn) but it all worked well. Ivan spoke after Thorfin and the Midrealm side of things was all lined up looking spiffy thanks in no small part to Fleig. The torches were lit and we had a good time and then we immediately walked to the known world party. Wow, what a lot of fun. I want to thank all of the Atenveldters who worked behind the scenes to make sombreros, mustashes and noms happen. Wow! Northsheild provided snocones and snoballs (sock bundles for throwing) and Trimaris had the same set up as we did and brought the rope game. There is video of me doing the game and I'm sure more out there but that is the beginning. More as pictures come out and we have fun.
