So the big reveal!
On August 4th my brought in law texts DH and I that Atlantia is going to surprise laurel my SIL. We said we would help and on the 8th we were told it was happening on the 4th of Sept. Flights and hotels were booked for DH to travel and I and the ladies of the house got things together and started work. First was fabric choices and all pulled from stash except some silk. Silk swatches were ordered and we had to wait for them and shipping of what we wanted. It all came together with lots of hard work and some blood and sweat...no tears though I don't think.
The biggest hurdle is that my SIL is the clothier for the family and unlike me she keeps her patterns in her head. She doesn't not have a notebook of patterns and measurements. So the BIL was able to take measurements off a current coat and send them. Now when I went to cut fabric...I had less than I wanted having lost some in the wash due to shrinkage it was apparent that my SIL who is Barbie proportioned at 5'3" has been accounting for her 34J (English) chest by making the back and shoulders larger than needed. She's also been doing the square inset gussets that while period are a PITA. So Ari re did the pattern on the fly and we got the coat all cut out perfectly with almost nothing for scrap. Then I began the sewing in earnest. The whole slog in in the pictures and link below.

I'm still waiting to see pictures of it on but DH states it fit her perfectly and had a beautiful swing when she walked.
So yeah the last 3.5 weeks has been met with lots of time for me to sew and watch TV. I binged through almost all of The Magicians and I think that show was awesome. Honestly, Ari and I and Eliot and Margo and we could so cosplay them.
Dragon*Con was this past weekend and the pictures look awesome. Sounds like minus the Pulse bar everyone was really good on distancing and mask wearing.
This coming weekend is the first SCA event for us in Kingdom, DH attended in Atlantia, but a first for me since investiture in 2020. I need to figure out what I'm wearing for 102°F day without guaranteed shade. They park got a new person for permits and we are using a new location for the event and may not be able to stake in. Le sigh. We shall see and make due. I may be wearing my Greek cause boy that is hot and its still Monsoon. Though maybe 14th Century? I dunno. We shall see. But its a thing.
I've finished the 14th book of the year a bit ago and am now on the 15th which is Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilkes. I had read it a long time ago but didn't remember jack about it. So I'm re-reading it to read the other books in the series I had been lent by Mughi. So that has been okay. I do miss reading books in book form versus electronic but its okay.
