Work was pretty slow. I got ahead on a few things and behind on others. I'm scheduled for travel on May 20/21st and that has interesting things. One team member can't stay at the hotel with the rest of us since his department bitched about the $2 more on price...plus he's taking a separate airline and not the direct flight. Yeah...short bus special that one. So, I wait for the other travel plans that are sane and normal and I will book those today. yay! more AA frequent flyer miles! which will lead to comfy seats on the way to pennsic. I did leave work a bit early since I had laundry to do and the gambeson to work on plus I had extra time from the day before. I got lots done and was able to get ready for the wedding in record time.

The site was absolutely beautiful. Wow. Pretty view of the mountains, wonderful little water feature, lush grass, bunnies and quail running around. Liz look absolutely amazing and Evan looked so dapper in his tux with tails. The drinks were free, the music was good, the food delicious and the dancing fun. Liz and Evan danced for the crowd. The cake was a very pretty castle and had a brownie layer that was to die for. We of course got home well after 10pm which is par for the course this week. Sigh. I slept good and got lots of kittie snuggles which was nice.

Already trying to book my travel and I'm not happy with the sane travel plans either. Leave at 6am and get to Chicago at noonish....what do we do the rest of the day? I'd rather take the noon flight, get in at 5pm and then have most of a day of work. Other than that its not too bad. Will have to discuss with partners.

Its virtual friday today which means YAY!!!! I'm gonna get home and work on the gambeson..hopefully get all of the edging sewn on so I can hand flip it in the truck tomorrow since we are heading to phx for the IKEA bathroom remodel trip. Then it will be kung fu and I need to remember to get a bit of IB in my system before hand so my knees will actually stretch out. Should be a good night. Now on with the rest of my day.

You take advantage of the afternoon and wander the city! Chi-town is AWESOME!

The thing is if I take the early flight I don't get paid after I land. I'd rather work until 11 and take the 1230pm flight....especially with already being on pto the previous week and having a 9/80 friday the week I travel.

I'm gonna try and get pictures off the camera from various things in the past 2 months this weekend..in my copious amounts of spare time.

Wait- the travel is for work, but you don't get paid for the entire time you're there? That's some f-d up policy right there.

Hell, I even get paid OT if my flights get me home late.

Uhm, yeah. Ours basically works so that if you're spending 6 hours or more in transit (or layover) on a give day, they pay you for the full day. Yours sounds seriously f-ed up.

And I say take advantage of it too... Chicago Museum of Art??? Man, I want to hit that place again... I could spend an entire day in their medieval to renaissance arms and armour hall. *drool*

You are only paid for the time you get to the airport to when you arrive at the hotel if you are not going straight to the job. We're flying in monday for the Tues/Wed meetings...now I'd love to have time to go to the field museum but I get back from SD on the 18th at 7pm and I'd have to leave at 6am the following morning? yeah, not my favorite idea. So, I got one of the guys to switch to my noon flight. Much better.

With me, if the meeting schedule requires that I fly in the day prior (which we try to avoid), I get paid for the day of travel. Granted, it is assumed that I'm working remotely ... and I will probably log in and check e-mail when I first get to the hotel, and again before dinner ... but no one really does.

Logging in for us is such a pain in the ass that I don't usually bother to even reserve a laptop...though I will reserve a cell phone this trip...maybe they will let me use it for SD too...hmmmm.

Course I did get some things done last time so I might as well get the laptop and phone. GAH!

Logging into e-mail isn't a big deal for me-- it is, however, a pain if I need to access any of our internal programs. But half of my job can be done via e-mail, so I have more flexibility than most HQ-based people.

Our email is on the internal system...therefore..PITA to get to.
