Weekend in Review

Friday was tiring with a couple of very long telecons. The highlight of one of them was introducing team members in NM to my "crack smoking monkeys" term. We got a bit giggly after 2+ hours on the phone and it worked well. Also during the call I made an observation that from a big picture was the simplest thing to do and everyone was floored. I had to comment "look 50% of engineering is pointing out the easiest solution cause you have to look at the big picture". Yes, sometimes my job is to point out the obvious but its sometimes hard to see the forest through the trees. It was a very productive day but tiring. Podling was unhappy with all of the sitting and kept bouncing around a lot. This high amount of activity continued on to our OB appointment.

Sandy, the midwife, was ever surprised at how much you could see the baby when I laid down. I was getting pushed and kicked and punched and we figured out that yes, podling has shifted to head down and that sore spot on my upper left side is from getting kneed. We ran one errand after the appointment and then home to have me cook dinner and start getting things packed up for the weekend. Mel was tired, very tired and managed to play plants versus zombies while I packed my stuff up and we had the car all loaded with everything by 9pm. We hit showers and then were asleep quite quickly.

Our alarm went off earlier than we have it go off during the week but we managed to get things going and out the door about when we expected to. Got gas and burritos and then picked up Maria, mel's lady at arms and drove up to prescott. Mel was driving and that was nice so I got to knit the entire way. We made two potty stops and then got to site about 4 hours or so after we left. The site was nice minus the huge trek to the potties but that was due to the closer potties being down for a broken water pipe. Understandable but annoying to a pregnant girl.

Got changed and realized I didn't feel good. Figured out it was 1) I was too warm and 2) I needed to eat. Fixed both of those and felt much better. Got ensconced in pile of furs at the front of court and relaxed and knit and took a few pictures during the beginning of the founding investiture. Then my camera battery died and I discovered that my backup was also dead...oh well. Court was nice, it was warm sitting in the sun which was weird but all in all neat to see a barony founded and I'm very happy for Brion and Natalya.

Then the war practice started and got my lunch and basically kitbitzed with people all day. Listened in on part of the Estrella meeting and still managed to surprise people with our podling. I don't think we've really made it that hush hush but folks are still finding out. Oh, well. The well wishes are awesome and that is what counts I think. Did figure out on the way home that the underdress I was wearing was 8 years old. I had made it for the first Fop Revel that mel and I had attended together and he has a matching kaftan. Funny that. Course it was loose in the shoulders and fit okay through the body so I know how much bigger I used to be. Lol.

Once the fighting was done the event was done and folks were packing up and heading off to home or the feast. We got packed up and between the two hrafnheim cars we got ourselves to the Prescott Brewery and got to sit near Sean, Elaria, Reynier and Morgan who were later joined by Tigra, Rudiger and his lady. All good. The food was excellent, the creme soda divine and all in all a good dinner. We packed ourselves back to our cars and then drove home. I was having ear issues on the way down from prescott but took a single sudafed and my inhaler when we got to Anthem and started feeling better pretty quickly. We got home at 11pm on the dot after dropping off maria and got things unloaded, cats fed, showers and were in bed pretty quickly.

Sunday was good. We slept in and snuggled lots and then got up for breakfast at joe's and then another trip to ace and then home. Mel got going on brewing beer and I got going on calligraphy. TRM need Stars of the Desert and since I had things painted but un-callig'd in the case I set forth to fix that. Out of the 5 scrolls I had I got the text on 3 of them by the end of the afternoon between breaks and chatting with my SIL. I have to say the last thing I callig'd was the A&S scroll in May I think. I had hit a plateau in my early gothic and I jumped that with some time off. I really nailed it and the scrolls look great right now. Wow, I was pretty happy. Now I just need to make that leap with later gothic and finally bastarde and I will feel good.

I then headed to target where I scored a new fireplace screen that I hope fits for really cheap (we'll find out tonight)and I picked up cards to finally send out our holiday letters. Yeah, we are so late but I'm sending them out as Valentines Cards and I figure that will work. LOL. I'll hopefully be addressing things on Friday in the car on the way to IKEA. LOL.

So, mel spent most of the night playing plants versus zombies while I tackled cleaning up the house a bit and working on finally getting photos uploaded from xmas and various SCA events. I was pretty choosy about what I'm posting and still unhappy with the online photo stuff. I might have to look into what talentus uses cause I'm not happy with Flickr etc. The user interfaces for uploading, viewing etc are just annoying. Too many clicks to do anything which makes them cumbersome. Oh, well. So, without further ado...here are pictures.

We are heading up to Phoenix on Friday as well. We were going to hang out at Zane's house. What time are you guys heading up?

We are heading up in the morning doing IKEA and tempe yarn, probably late lunch at Rock Bottom and then home.

We have prezzies for Kev that we need to get him...is the plan a gathering at Zane's?

Not sure the plans now if we are going to see the college crew or not and we need space to bring home furniture and will probably be taking the car. Not sure yet. Will know more later this week.
