Crazy weekend....

ianukThe weekend I spent making sure Mel was taking care of himself. Taking care of Benny and painting my fingers to the bone with the awesome help of Bridget, Erika and Willa. Friday I worked my butt off at work and finished some long in work tasks, headed to the gym and physically kicked my own ass on squats and running. I was beat when I got home to paint for a few hours and then to cloak night for some adult time. Skyfall is still very very pretty in many many ways.
Mel was asleep on the couch when I got home…he napped most of the evening after Bridget and I left I think. I sent him to bed while I almost finished the toe on my purple sock. I did not have the events of the previous night where I had just snuggled down from reading very late and was almost asleep when Mel basically palm-heeled me in the ribs when he was restlessly flailing. I screamed cause it hurt and woke me up and he freaked out cause I screamed etc. Then we got settled down and he immediately zonked out (with less flailing) and I was falling asleep again when I hear Benton’s door open and a pitiful “Momma, I have to go potty!” and I tell him its okay, he doesn’t have to ask….so I get up and make sure he’s okay, wrangle the cats back into the bathroom for lockup and then give him a leg massage cause he said they were hurting. The kiddo is eating for 3 lately and yeah, growing hurts, I remember. Then I finally got to sleep at midnight. Sighs. But Friday night I slept wonderfully and heard Benny get up at 8am. I followed pretty quickly after since he needed supervision and Mel had stolen all of the covers in a big crocodile roll. Sighs.
Ben and I had a great breakfast and coffees and then I relaxed reading and just getting going for the day. Mel got up quite a bit later and I finally got dressed for working on scrolls. I painted for almost 4 hours and then took a 4 hour break before getting back into it with Bridget after the kiddo was in bed. Mel and Mark made a dual world in Minecraft and the commentary was priceless. Painting happened until 10pm or so and then mel and I stayed up to watch an episode of Tabletop while I worked on the prezzie for Baby Malcolm. Headed to bed and slept really well. I did not want to get out of bed when I did but I did anyway. We headed out to breakfast at Joe’s for Mother’s Day. We had a nice breakfast and got to see Ari and the kiddos too. Ben was a bit squirrely and I should have taken that for a sign since he made me more grumpy as our shopping trip to Ace Hardware and Costco went. Got home and was exhausted and Ben was too and he was just contrary. Bridget and the kids arrived about 2pm and we got back to work. Ben got sent to a timeout/lay the eff down in his room that Mel was a trooper for handling. It was epic and he was so tired if he would just nap life would be so much better. I worked on things until about 530pm and then went and got pizza for all of us. I learned a lot about background and foreground and how to delineate things and Bridget rocked the house with her additions to the highlights/lowlights to what Erika and Willa had painted and then she completely blew us away with her work on the two other critters on the borders..OMG. In my head it didn’t look this good. So happy. I worked on the calligraphy and Willa is awesome and working on the text spacing for me to maximize the space and get things settled for putting in two large historated initials and other highlighted initials when I do the callig. I hope to get the one sketched and painted tonight (the first letter of the text) and then get help on callig how to since I’m writing smaller than I ever have from Ari.
After Bridget and the kids left I sat and read while we watched youtube of the Pentatonix and we got sucked into watching replays of their competition pieces from Sing-off. I was very impressed with the judges, especially Ben Folds who is a technical guru for music. Way too late up and then this AM I gave blood to the Red Cross because well, I need to and I’m O+ so they like me to come in regularly. I did okay eating etc last week and tracking food except for yesterday. I succumbed to my desires for bad food and lots of beer and meh. 6/7 days clean is good.
