So the task I've been putting off for a bit, wrapping gifts, got 2/3 of the way done last night. I got home from work just as the boys were leaving for kung fu. I'm not hitting the gym this week since I'm still woobly from blood loss and we have plans other parts of the week etc.

So, I played a bit of stardew while I got the sushi bake prepped. I'm out of mirin so the rice wasn't perfect and I'm almost out of kewpie and used a sweet sauce so it was different but still tasty. Got that out of the oven, picked up the sullen teenager who had "homework, shower, dinner" as his priorities. I was like okay. So I had my dinner and got prepped for wrapping. The new Holiday White Ale from Sam Adams is killer. I put on Ghost Hunters and wrapped for 3 hours. Benton helped me out with getting the tree area picked up of ornaments the cats had knocked off. I then fixed all of the branches spicy and Tasha had mucked with and then we stacked things under and around the tree and the cats haven't been up in it since. So for next year I do need to get presents wrapped earlier so I can get them under and block access to the base of the tree. I was hella tired by the time I was done and took my second beer to the couch to sit and relax. It was well after 10 when I did this.

Mel got home at a bit after 1030 from the Knight Light Tourney. I had only known it was happening on Sunday cause there has been no communication other than I guess FB. I would have gone if I had known more than 2 days before. But that was okay. I had things to do, aka presents to wrap. Plus its a school night the last week of school. So it was okay. Anyhoo....by the time I had settled for bed and was in bed it was 1140pm I then read for a while and was lights out just a bit after midnight.

I will hopefully finish wrapping tonight after we get back from the botanical gardens...if not tomorrow after the dentist if I'm up for it. Today is my last work day. I have a few small tasks to do and that is it. Everything else is basically on hold until the new year. The gov't folks are basically done as well. So it feels weird. But I guess that is okay.

Got lots of small things but the big thing is Friday afternoon I will cut out my fabric for my dresses. I need to pull things for the shift but I need floor space to pull the bins out. My goal for the new year is to have some of the fabric storage in the closet but we need to purge the closet of things and my studio of things. I dont' know if I will have time for that but we shall see. The studio will be guest from for the 23-26th and then from the Jan 2-6th so not a lot of time in there but yeah sewing. I will probably also get my short sleeve coat cutout so I have that for the war too. I've been putting that off for literally years. We shall see. I'm trying not to be too ambitious. I also need to rest and recoup my brain meats.

Thus far the only thing I've been having is not wanting to sleep at night with being on a lower dose of my meds. I think that will settled down once I have my projects set...I want to work projects and not work my paying job. But a few more hours and I will be free.

I'm looking forward to the gardens tonight. That will fun. I've never been there for anything other than weddings and that has been years. So this will be fun.

Just a few more hours.

Last week was way too many work annoyances and allergy crap.  Giving blood always makes me more allergy issued and with the palo verdes blooming and working outside for the POD its been a bit rough.  My Wednesday meant I was at my 2 weeks from second shot. It feels great and Friday was my birthday so I took the day off and bummed around.  I had two errands to run and I got my eyebrows waxed and my toes done.  Its been well over a year for that.  OMG felt so good.  I also got Ari a fancy coffee and delivered it and an apple fritter.  So all good.  I then finished up my errands dropped off groceries with the boys and went off to dink around 4th Avenue.  Bought a few things from local merchants and then went to the Midtown Mercantile and found a neat pickle fork and a German pudding like this (: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009J9BF3O/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_TH0TG99A3NCGN4X3DQK0 ) and then i got us take away sushi which was sooo good. OMG I've been not getting take away sushi and I have regret.  Its online ordering and easy as pie to get.

Got home and was dogged tired.  I had a few drinks using my new bar tools that Mel got me from Barfly by Mercer.

Woot.

Mel made me a blueberry lime dairy free cake but he broke the whipped non-dairy cream frosting. But it was tasty with cocowhip.

I got spoiled this year.  Willa got me BFL fiber in a really pretty green called Jurassic; Ari got me a beautiful vintage scarft, a laurel pendant, a GoT Megablocks dragon egg and a pretty boar; Rob and Becca got me a new Xbox controller in bright red; [personal profile] danabren got me a lift for my computer monitors which I need to put together and mel got me a two cup shaker, two different jiggers, a combo stir spoon/muddler, a bitters in glass and a glass cocktail cup for stirring drinks.  They are all but the glass in a darkened stainless steel.

Saturday I was up for relaxing and Benton went to Paul's to play with Skylar after the dojo and I got to watch TV all by myself. Then I went to pick him up and stayed hanging out for a nice nature walk and some time with the boys. Benton got to rid a scooter and learn a bit on how to ride a skateboard.

Sunday I got up before everyone else and went to the POD and I worked at Registration this time. I didn't run the ipads just verified info and handed out forms but it was really good time.  Ran and errand when I was done and then just fell into a stupor when I got home. I was reading and then hung out in the hammock. I had forgot my inhaler and I talked a lot while I was on duty.  I was just done.  I was kinda lazy until dinner and then we watched a bit of YT and then I got to use my new controller to sit and play Graveyard Keeper which is like Stardew Valley but grim.  I like it but the mechanics are different than Stardew Valley so I was stuck a bit after 3 hiours but I read some today and its all good.

The only weird thing is I've been sleeping really crappy. Not sure if its allergies?  Work is annoying but not really stressful  but I think its still all of this crap with the plague still going and while my county is doing good but what about everywhere else?   Dunno, we shall see.

Wow. The week sucked and my bday made up for it. I left work after 7 hours. My brain was done. I got my toes done. They are neon pink with white flowers and green rhinestones. Then I got home to roses and cake from mel with the offer to go on a shopping spree at grandmas spinning wheel.

He bought me sock yarn, astral yarn (alpaca, tencel blend), a needle felting kit and some more Manos silk blend. We then were a bit late for sushi with a whole crew of folks for Darrin and i's bday. Then some of us went to Kick Ass. It was awesome. Go see it!

Then mel and I get home and Richard left me boddingtons and a strawberry planter and all of the plants. We are going to be planting things up this afternoon. Such a good day.

So it's gonna be fun to head to the fair. All cool.

Well, I'm at work and I hurt. Its better but moving around a lot (like the walk to my desk) kinda wore me out. Doug, my boss, commented I'm walking like I'm not 100% and that is definitely true. I'm about 60% and I have stuff to keep occupied so I'm good. Sitting and not going anywhere. My morning meetings have been canceled and that means staying put as well. I am better but yeah, things still hurt, though the nausea is gone so that is a plus.

I worked more on my sock last night and then started in on Gretchen's Baby's afghan. Its gonna take a while since its about 150 stitches across and lots of dtr (double trebles) which you really can't do too quickly due to the amount of loops but its got a great texture and babies love texture. I probably didn't buy too much yarn for this project...though I might switch the border color to red versus the purple I picked out...I like the purple but the red I think has more contrast and is more masculine. We shall see. I have about 30" more to go before I have to make that decision.

I slept okay but I think the pain stuff only lasts about 5 hours. I awoke about 4am aching and obsidian was being whiny. I should have gotten up to take more meds but I hit the bathroom and crawled back in bed. So, getting better but tomorrow will not be the fun day I had planned for my b-day. I'm gonna have to work a full day to not take too much vacation for being sick. I was hoping to take the afternoon off and get a pedi and then head out to do some fun stuff. Looks like dinner out (if my tummy can handle it) and maybe a movie. We shall see. I think today will wear me out.

My work move happens next thursday. My work computer backup only lasts 2 days and my new work computer gets installed on 5/11. Do we see a problem with that? yeah. That doesn't work. Hopefully I can get that resolved today cause that is the suck.

So we shall see how the day goes. I'm hoping good.
ianuk: (talk to the hand)
Work was mind numbing, got some stuff done but I left on time and was done making decisions. Which didn't do so well for things when I got home. I didn't want to make decisions, I was done. I want to kill our pantry and that did not help the issue. We finally made dinner but having an Aries (who wants things planned) and a Gemini (who likes spontineaty) doesn't work well for those that are tired and hungry to make dinner.

I then started work on [livejournal.com profile] scribe_ari's b-day gift and got about 1/4 done. I hope to get to at least the half way mark tonight so I can finish it up over the weekend and have time to block it. I also need to finish organizing the studio and purging more stuff. So I will have to just set the times and work in those sections to get things done. Though honestly, if I push, I might be able to get the prezzie done tonight. We shall see. Plans are not solidified and if I get off of work at a reasonable time I might be able to work more things out.

Biking is being discussed for tomorrow. Not sure. I need to weed the back yard and give blood and do the aforementioned organizing and crafting. We shall see though. Not sure if I'm up for Saguaro but we shall see. Its be a good push.

Trying not to over schedule this weekend but its looking like it already sigh. (yes, I know that goes against the aries thing but I don't know how much time things will be taking me).

I did have to scrape my windows this morning...its April. WTF?

Well, back to the snooze inducing paperwork.
ianuk: (baroness)
So, yesterday I got to hear the phrase "there is no white space in my calendar" and I had to agree with that statement. I had more meetings yesterday than I've had in the last two weeks. Bleah. Found out that there was a big cluster miscommunication while I was gone on travel/vacation about who was covering one of my projects. No one called my direct boss, they called the dept manager who was out, called his second in command who didn't know and said I wasn't working the issue and assigned people who were not at all in the know about the project. Panties got in wads, hamsters got spun up and it was a comedy to figure out yesterday when people were bitching about charge numbers. Sighs. Got it all worked out and I have lots of paperwork to do today. It was comical.

It was even more comical when I answered my cell during a meeting cause mel called. He never calls so I took it. He had a flat on the truck (the tire was staked like a vampire with a chunk of wood) and the spare was flat. I was stuck in a meeting that was heading into its 3rd hour. He managed to get someone with an air compressor to fill the spare and get things changed so that was good. I called him when I got out of the meeting after finding out all about the above cluster and said I was still working and would be heading out soonish.

I did a good thing though. Even though it was 530pm I went to the gym and then knit night. I pushed really hard through my workout and even added in leg lifts/curls at higher weight since I wasn't doing cardio. I got out of the gym by 615 or so and headed out to grandmas. Got there about 10 to 7 and relaxed. Lots of cute things had been finished. My brain was blitzed though...so blitzed that I didn't read a label really well and [livejournal.com profile] scribe_ari bought me way to expensive of yarn for my b-day. I'll have to make her something extra special to go along with her b-day gifts. I have a plan, I just need to see if I have the yarn...though it won't be done in time for her b-day its gonna be cool. Or I might shift gears and make something I can finish..we shall see what Ravelry pulls to me in the ether. I'm just kinda gobsmacked, thank you dearie but dude...I didn't intend that at all.

Got home, showed off my prezzies, got to see the forge and snickered at the cats who were uber whiney at the front door crying through the screen since all of the family and Reynier were in the shop. Got back in..hunted ravelery for patterns and worked on the afghan. Richard was awesome and netflix'd Vibes for us. I believe I will be watching it tonight for craft time. Got to bed at a decent time and read a few more chapters in my book. I need to re-listen to all of the Puritan stuff from Craftlit about Ann Hutchinson. I think I got the readers digest format with more drama but I'm not sure. Then it was bed time.

Work has been interesting so far but lots of folks are out for Easter. I'm not so I have lots of work to do on the project from above...though I'd luv to spend a rainy day at home reorging the studio some more. Eh, work pays the bills.

Oh, but the girls throught the baby booties were a cat toy. Sigh. I think they are okay...but grrr....

Saturday was restfull. I crocheted lots of potholders and ended up going out antiquing with mel for a bit after we hit [livejournal.com profile] swordmage's open house. I didn't push to hard, I don't think but I was very tired when we got home. Mel made us a nice dinner and I worked on more crochet. Got to bed at a good time and slept really well. Got up early today and had joe's to see Mary (Joe's daughter) work her last sunday. She's heading to school in Scottsdale on Wednesday and won't be working for her dad anymore. We had a good time and then mel headed out for the casa grande war practice. I endeavored to get the xmas tree down..and got very tired after getting all of the ornaments off. Wow. Very tired after that so I snuggled up with the girls on the couch watching tv. Didn't sleep but I rested and that was okay. Now, I've had a bit of lunch and will try to finish the tree and the decorations and then some laundry in a slower pace than I did this morning.

All good though.
Here are the pot holders:
Twila's:
Twila's Potholders

Willa and Dom's:
Will and Dom's Pot Holders Both

All out of Sugar and Cream Cotton and I had fun playing with colors. It was so much easier than my knitting to work on and I needed some instant gratification in working on things since work was long term stuff and knitting takes a while. I'm happy with the results and will probably make some more for us soon I think.
ianuk: (walking pig)
Well, this week has been really, really odd. I've been sick and the doctor agreed after xrays that bronchitis is the culprit and if my lungs don't improve by monday they will probably put me back on steroids to get my lungs to clear out and open up. He put me on a zpack and sent me home to rest. I got my scrip in, had a quick lunch at joe's and then home. I slept for quite a while and then headed back out to get my scrip picked up. I had to stand in line for an hour...glad I had my knitting and fun retiree's telling good jokes. Got home and rested some more. Had folks over to pick up silk stuff and then I picked up the front room. Mel was awesome and made dinner for the gamers. I didn't eat much but we played for a while and then it was bed time. Do have to say, richard had us on an odd brain track and we derailed a few times. Mary made me choke on my vitamin water and I got some water in my lungs which hurt. It was funny but man that hurt.

We got to bed before midnight and I slept okay..much better than the last night. Got up about 830 and got some coffee. Mel didn't feed the girls cause they took out the trash last night and nommed on left overs. Bad Kitties. I'm doing okay. I can tell the antibiotics are working but the lungs are still heavy...but I'm not as tired which means my breathing, at least while sleeping was much better. Gonna take it very easy today and just watch tv and knit. I finished a quick crochet project this AM for a housewarming today. Mel's been canning salsa and I believe richard is working in the shop. Probably time for a shower and more rest.
ianuk: (pretty)
Well, its been pretty stress free of a holiday. I had lots of help from [livejournal.com profile] public_shaylan to get the house ready for christmas eve dinner. The lasagna and the pies turned out great. I think I have now become an "organic" pie maker. Meaning I can just pull things from the freezer and cupboard and make really good pie from scratch. I even made homemade whip cream...why or why did I ever buy cool-whip? Seriously easy to do.

I got some awesome stuff for the holiday including lots of knitting stuff and the new poles for the "swingset" style of arrangement for our pavilion. How cool is that? Mel's mom also made us each a personalized punchwork embroidery pillow. Mine has a crow and mel's has a keg and stein of beer. They are small but perfect for the couch. All of the handmade stuff that I made went over well. Mom really liked the shawl but she was completely enamored of the brooch mel made in about 10 mins. Oh, and I also got COBRA ACTION FIGURES!! So fun. Mel also got me more currier and ives dishes for the antique set we use. We had a very relaxing day of hanging out and me knitting or reading about knitting.

Mel smoked ham and two beef roasts and we had a simple dinner of ham, potatoes and baked brie...along with pie. Did I mention I made a lot of pie? I made rhubarb (small one), 2 blueberry cream cheese(1 to Joes), 2 key lime(1 to joes), cherry berry. Shanda made apple crumb top and strawberry cream cheese. Its all so good. It was such a nice day to relax.

Today I knit a lot and relaxed and realized I'm wheezing a bit. Then I headed out to see [livejournal.com profile] shade_scribbler and crewe at Something Sweet for some socializing. It was a good time and I got more knitting done (see a theme) but I'm realizing that the wheezing is kinda constant. I think rest and more drugs tomorrow will be good.

The thing to note is that knitting is making me happy. I'm about 1/2 way done with mel's hot water bottle cozy and I hope to start mine soon after I get his finished in the next few days. I guess I'm knitting a bit quicker than I thought and that is okay. That just means that socks are closer...tee hee!
ianuk: (bear)
Well, not that I finished anything yesterday but I made progress on lots of stuff.

Got to work around the house while mel was out shopping. I got ricotta made, more banners steamed and then headed out to grandma's to pick up some yarn for mel's water bottle cozy. Got some luscious silk merino kettle dyed yarn and when I got home we balled up the yarn and I cast on. Luckily Ari came over to drop off something and showed me how to put things on dpns (double pointed needles) and I worked away. Also had a visit from Thyra who insisted that we open our gifts. Mel got a saw till, I got yarn and a neato crochet hook set (ergo awesome) and richard got a ryobi router table. Much fun was had. Then [livejournal.com profile] weave_dancer was over to drop off stove pipe for the steamer and we got the last banner wrapped up and ready to steam. The 4x4 banners required mods to my steamer and I'll hopefully get those steaming tomorrow...maybe tonight. We shall see how handy the boys are.

It was a busy night and I worked on Tati's gift...today needs to be lasagna making, work on Tati and Richard's gifts and getting the house ready for [livejournal.com profile] public_shaylan. All good. Plus I need to figure out pies. Cause tomorrow AM will be pie baking. All good.

Well, the weekend was pretty quiet. I accomplished a few things. I got one of Wander's Gifties done and started the second. I finished my own afghan and it is snuggly and sized for me. Its almost as long as I am tall and very comfy. As you can tell from the photo, the girls like this afghan a lot.
cats on my stuff ) They snuggled on it together even though they have been grumpy at each other since friday. I'm sure when I get home today they will be snuggled up with it again.

I also watched tv and relaxed yesterday. Folks were busy in the shop and I was feeling odd. By the evening my sinuses were filling and my nose didn't want to stop running. This morning it feels like I need to rip my teeth out to relieve the pressure. This does not bode well. I'm gonna get going on some data mining and when I can't handle that anymore I'll probably go home.

Oh, I realized I didn't talk about A&S, I only tweeted about it. It was really, really well run this year. Things were organized, I got a packet with all of my judging sheets, instructions were clear. I got to judge part of the championship and that was interesting. I have thoughts on what I'd like to see improve but for the first time doing it in that format I think it was a great success and I can't wait to try it out next year as an entrant. Lord Leot will be a fine champion and I'm sure that it will help him grow immensely. I'm also pleased with all of the awards given out! Yay for Iosobail, [livejournal.com profile] corynne_macleod, [livejournal.com profile] zippydclown, Isemay, Alison, [livejournal.com profile] scribe_ari and many others.
ianuk: (confused)
Well, sunday was pretty odd. I wasn't feeling great but I managed to get out of the house and just do things. Got a bit grumpy at all of the video games and I'm not sure where that came from but eh...it happens. I did manage to get a bit further along on a christmas present and got the supplies to do twila's ornaments this year. Which reminds me that I need to work on her xmas presents soon too. Had nice Zeman's dinner with folks. Gods I luv Ethiopian food. Mel was pretty out of it all day and when I left for dinner he was under orders to take a bath, drink tea and go to bed early.

I did not get my straps on my dress but it got sat on and got sawdust on it, so I put it aside to not get mad. I think it was just that kind of weekend. The body isn't happy and I wasn't stable enough to get out and get on the bike which probably would have helped with things. Course the insomnia has got to stop which I'm sure is adding to the weirdness. Last night I was reading, not sleepy and watching tv...then when I finally went to bed mel was restless and kept waking up. I got a new pillow yesterday and that seemed to help a bit but I'm sore all over ...I saw way to many hours on the clock before I finally fell asleep...then the weird dreams started. This time it was like I was in a video game but then it was real...very weird.

Not sure why this set of insomnia has hit...things are just weird I guess.
ianuk: (lazycat)
Well, its monday again and boy is it striking with a vengeance. I did not sleep well and I think part of that was soreness, part of it was my brain being on and part of it was just oddness in general. Course I also got some skeeter bites during the night that don't make me happy either...bleah, I hate skeeters.

The rest of the day sunday it was hard to motivate to work on things I needed to. I watched tv, relaxed, napped and worked on presents. I also managed to get my studio cleaned up, fabric pulled for a few outfits and got my new wrap around hangerrock pattern figured out. Its a nice rosey pink and I need to figure out what to trim it in. Hopefully I'll have that figured out today so I can work on the handwork and get it ready to wear for A&S. I also plan on getting other stuff cut out so I can have new stuff by the time the reign starts which will be nice.

My allergies aren't happy with me this morning. Guess I don't get to skip meds much anymore...sighs. I was hoping. Here's to hoping things kick in soon.

Today at work is going to be *fun*, since I have lots of paperwork to do. But I will prevail over the mountain of red tape and triumph in the face of change notices, variances and their ilk!
