When I last wrote I was scrambling to get things done for us traveling to Atlantia. I finished my dresses on Wednesday night and then I only had to work on Benton's coat. I was flummoxed by his hem...like breaking my brain and I think it was the plaids not lining up etc that made things look screwy. Its all okay I managed to get it done by 9pm and I was packed by 11pm. Packing for a quick trip with cold weather SCA was a bit challenging but it all worked out. I got my shower, and was having a really hard time falling asleep sometime past midnight. The alarm at 345am sucked but we got ourselves moving and out the door. Half way to the airport I asked mel if he had his passport....he didn't so we had to turn around. Luckily we aren't that far from the airport. Got that and got to the car park and then into getting out bags checked and on thru security. Where mel forgot his cell in his pocket so we got delayed there. We did get to see Ari from afar and wave and meow at each other since she was heading to Indianapolis.

We got to our gate with about 10 mins to wait for us to board. The flight was to DFW and then to Charlotte and it all went well. Our rental card was right at the opening of Avis and we got on the road. The site was about 2 hours from Charlotte and barely into SC. So we drove through eastern NC and then dipped into SC for the site. It was a nice site and the cabins were nice. Due to Becca and Rob having a large group we got the big cabin with a kitchen and full group bathrooms. It was all a big room with bunk beds but the group was so used to this site it was pretty normal for them. It was something to get used to but it was nice. And the cabins were warm which was important since it was 17 over night and 36 for a high with a bit of wind. Ooh. chilly with the humidity.

We had the traveler's feast that evening which was a bunch of crockpot soups made by Atenveldt's own Bannthegn Gwen formerly of BSD. She and her hubby Don Simon and their extra Master Mallus all live in in the barony my family has now stepped up in. So familiar faces were good and Gwen made me a soup I could eat which was so tasty. We hung out with folks in the cabin in the evening and I did the sewing of the buttons and loops on Rob's caftan. not my best work cause I was tired and the silk bias was very stiff but it looked good when he put it on.

I slept okay...not the best but we all got up early and moving and helping folks with garb and making things perfect. I think we all looked nice and Benton looked really good in his coat. The hall was decked out nicely and it was cool to sit in the back and watch court. I took more pictures and we escorted them into court for their stepping up in our Ducal glory. Its very different in Atlantia for things and that is okay.

(more after I recover from Covid...that is another story)
