Well after settling in, Sean (pronounced San) and I went to Whiskey Joes for dinner. I had the grouper and we sat on the deck

Got back to the hotel and watched tv and finished my hat and started another one. I slept really well and the continental breakfast has smoked salmon. Nom nom.

So I slept well which means things should go good today. All good

I travel home, without delays hopefully, I should pull into Tucson about 1pm Thursday.

I will either head to work for an hour, or call my boss and tell him I'll be on Friday...it all depends on how I feel physically. Our plan is to go to the service on Thursday.

Those are some great pictures. I once dated a woman attending South Florida University, there in Tampa, but I never actually got down there to see the place.

I miss the ocean.

I find the ocean creepy...its smells weird and not being able to see land is bizarre.

My mother tells me that I was a water baby... even before I could walk, I would throw myself fearlessly into the pool. In the Navy, I was a rescue swimmer. So water is a big part of my life.

And I have to say, I never slept so well as when I was at sea.

Until this moment, it has never once occurred to me what sort of reaction one might have to the ocean if they didn't grow up around large bodies of water.

That is totally wild to me, and yet I can grok it. Sort of.

Water, should smell a certain way and the sea doesn't smell like the lakes I'm used to ...its water and humid but not the same.

I giggle - cause I go see ocean... and just think of it as being my lake only not as neat.
'Cause I'm used to Lake Superior - thus no see the other side - small tide activity - same sound and motion (minus the sand noise in most spaces)
But the ocean just doesn't smell right.

To those of us born and raised in the desert, this is, indeed, not an unusual reaction.

I imagine it's the same way for people who come to the desert for the first time and see only emptiness and dirt. It takes time to begin to appreciate the beauty. The ocean had no allure for me until I was in mid-adulthood.
