Well, its now Tuesday and the last few weekends have been crazy with travel. Last Saturday we headed to Mons for the Mace and Greatsword/Investiture extravaganza. Benton was not feeling good on Saturday which made for a rather long day for some of us. The previous night we had traveled to site with [livejournal.com profile] lferion for Caolinnfoin's vigil. It was a fun affair even with the heavy rain as we headed out. Saturdays trip down was uneventful and the weather was very nice for court. We created our first peer and it went really well and then we gave out some much needed awards including an AOA to a fellow photog and one that was 37 years in the making. You can see the pictures Day 01 - by Lady Celestria. I even took her camera to take a picture of her while we gave her her AOA. We invested Finn and Brighed as B&B and gave Heinrich and Juliana their thegn/bannethegns and we closed court with 1 item left which was me giving my Commander of the Queen's Grace to Momma DeLacey, Katherine Schlaegle. We were both crying and it was so good to do.

After our big court we managed to do lots of things from watching the tourney, looking at the A&S display and many meetings with people. I had some hard parts of the weekend and by the end we were all very, very emotionally done. We left and got home with a good gift of KC BBQ delivered by Mistress Katrai from Calontir. So good. Benton had been feeling yucky and that went with the full week after.

We spent the entire week before Battlemoor getting things ready for the event and trading off staying home with Benton for the week. He's had diarrhea all week but not really sick other than some extra tireds. When we left on thursaday with much help from [livejournal.com profile] snotblossom and [livejournal.com profile] brennabe. I felt really bad and getting out of town was hard on many, many fronts and then I thought we had diapers and we didn't, Benton had to go to the doctor and lots of other small things including way more road construction than I ever expected in Colorado. We finally arrived onsite at just before 11am. It was dark and we were tired and I was so blown...but I managed to get things settled in the tent (it was all set up by Morgan and Thyra et al) and then I meandered to the "come as you were" party for a meet and greet and ran into Damien (our good friend from Artemesia who is now king). Drug him back to see Mel and we stayed up talking till late.

Awoke Friday morning and we were so tired from a stressful week that we took the day off to watch tourneys, chat with people etc. I finished my shoes I've been working on since we were B&B and it was a good day. We sat Outlands Court with TRM Outlands and it was just a nice evening. The royal dinner was a tapas style affair with us having front row spaces to see the best of the best tourney which was a bear pit of awesome. We also gambled a bit with beads and trinkets on who would win the fights. So much fun. I stayed up until almost 1am after the tourney ended and mel went traipsing back to find our friend Shane from Northshield. We went to school with Shane and it was amazing to catch back with him. Lots of good memories there. Plus Mel gave him the his old plaque belt that he had made while in Northsheild. Shane used to tease mel about stealing it and since he was never going to use the belt again he gave it to him as a gift. You've never seen such a wonderful smile. I was feeling weird on Saturday...I think it was lack of sleep, altitude etc. It was nice to relax and sit and chat with people, spin with the Outlands Fiber guild and attend a very nice court followed by the Atenveldt party (holy crap did we bring lots of booze!!!) plus a really awesome and chivalric tournament which finished up after midnight. Crazy good times. We ended up closing down the bar at 230am while talking with Sir Roisin from Northshield and one of her friends.

Sunday was good, we packed up pretty quickly and got help for other folks and headed off site (with a stop off at much needed showers thanks to Duke Geo) and had a much easier time heading up to the airport. We got there with plenty of time for returning the car and heading into the airport. We bypassed the main security and hit the "secondary" security which didn't involve us going down stairs and back upstairs. Had to go through the millimeter wave scanners (just like the secondary security at Pittsburgh) but still quick. We headed to our gate and managed to get a Rock Bottom Brewery right there. Then we settled in for the ride home. Mel was spinning and teaching how he does. I was finishing up his hat and it was a very uneventful time to get home. All good.

Got home and we were exhausted. Maria Isabel had had a trying day with cranky boy but all in all it was a good weekend for her and the boy. We got the download and then sat down, ordered pizza and watched Tabletop until about 930 to go to bed.

Sunday was good and lazy. I managed to get coronation fabric washed and some other stuff done including plying up 2 ounces of yarn for [livejournal.com profile] elinor_dear. I'll post all of that yarn when its done. But here is a picture of Ivan and his hat.

Battlemoor was so much fun. Everything was centralized, we saw people we didn't expect to run into and it was a very homey event. Lots of good things and a beautiful site for an event. Grass, trees and really cool site owners. What a great time..we shall have to try to go back next year.
