This girl.
oof.
I'm still kinda in a daze about it. 40 seems not right. I don't feel like I've lived that long but then I think about the fact that Ben is 6. Mel and I have been together 21 years, I graduated from HS in 1995....and yeah the number is right though I don't feel like it.
So, what does one do for your 40th? Anything I damn well wanted. Friday after working OT we went antiquing where I picked up some records from my youth. Mel and I had a nice lunch out at Serial Grillers, The boy had his 6 year appointment where he is now officially 4 foot tall and 50.8 pounds. 88th percentile for height, 75th percentile for weight...though he's still down a bit. The meds are doing that but us changing what we feed him helps. I will admit when we got home I fell asleep. The wind had been up and my breathing wasn't great and my allergies are kicking my ass. I was out for quite some time before we had dinner.
Saturday the boys got up and went to the dojo and I leisurely got set for taking Butterfly to the vet for a blood test and then shopping and pedicure. I had stuff to return and things I wanted to get like new lingerie. I got a manicure as well since I just felt like it. Its a light sparkly pink. My toes are a really deep pink which matches the dress I wore. Got a lot accomplished but it took too long. I felt very rushed until I got home at 430. I got a shower and then got dolled up for dinner out with Will/Dom & Ed/Candace. We all headed up to Commoner and Company (same folks who own pre/pastry) and had a really nice dinner. The cocktails were faboo and the food tasty.
Fuzzy Selfie...and booze and dessert.

After dinner we headed to AZ Beer House for some more drinks and then home. It was a nice night. Sunday I slept in till 10am. Mel had brought me coffee sometime in the 8am hour and I just slept. Yay! Then I snuggled up in my pjs reading through one of my fave fics Tales from the Tower. Go read and love them all. Then I got dressed and we headed out to go roller skating as a treat. I think on my 30th Birthday we had all gone to ice skating..it seemed fitting to have skating again. My legs were tired and sore but we did good. Ben was having coordination issues but by the end he was doing good. We think the meds help his coordination as well. We headed to get birthday cake and flowers and then had a really nice dinner that mel made.
Cake:

Monday I took off the day to have "me" time and it was a MONDAY. Gods...the boy dropped his toast 3 times, the 3rd time was in the car and required a change of clothes....sighs. But I got a massage, read, watched some Penny Dreadful, gave blood and took a nap. I made a nummy steak dinner for us and then went to scribble.
Mel has been reading Ben the Hobbit....he got the first riddle. So proud.
