Well, We all slept in a bit for Sunday AM since we were tired from Saturday. We made a plan to hit the Minecraft movie. We chose a new theater to us called Galaxy Theaters. They had the size of screen I wanted and the comfy seats and we had a nice time at the movies. Minecraft was so silly and terrible in the best ways. If you are a minecraft fan there is lots of fan service and respectful legendary cameos. Jason Momoa and Jack Black stole the show..I would have liked more with the ladies in the cast (Emma Myers and Danielle Brooks). Jennifer Coolidge in general was just kinda sad and creepy but I think that was the vibe, so okay. But it was fun.

I was tired and my brain wasn't really enjoying anything but I played some games and knit on the sock while mel and I watched things in the evenings. I think I put another inch on it. We did have a nice dinner. Mel sous vide a turkey breast he had smoked. I made fried spiced potatoes in the air fryer.

Monday work was way annoying. everyone was dumb and I had a meeting with my lead chief engineer. Yes things I was doing was someone else's job but for the time being I needed to do it until we replaced said person with someone who would do the job. I spent my afternoon crafting emails to get ahead of that task and get information to get things working. So that felt nice but it was a lot of work to get my brain to pull things together. I had a few tasks like that but turned on some tv to let my brain calm down and listen to that while I made the magic happen.

Once I clocked out for the day I kept watching TV and went through the jewelry making supplies on the table, consolidated and threw out trash bits and finished up laying out the necklace from Feed the Ravens. Mel had said dinner was ready when I was finishing up resorting beads that had gotten dumped on my floor during my making ari's earrings. I had just piled them into my bead tray and then took the time to fix it and put things together. Dinner was good, mel made stew with some leftover turkey breast, potatoes, leftover corn etc. I'm glad he's handy in the kitchen. We had dinner and then since all of my scribal stuff was packed I put it in the car and went to Ari's.

It was just her and I. She was "deleting" a person from a scroll that had been given out a long while ago and is now no longer a part of the recipients life for reasons. I sat down and pounced the two scrolls I had in work. The pounce stuck to a few places so I made sure to let it sit for longer. I did the calligraphy and it only smudged on erasure on two spots 1 on each scroll so yeah. I'm glad I'm getting these scrolls done and out of the case and now I know how to "fix" oily perg but that was not how I wanted to learn it. But I got those done and I have one other scroll in my case from an unknown scribe which is not completed. I have a knighting scroll get text on and hoping I can get that done on Saturday. Its been nice to get back in teh swing of things and yeah make shit so the brain weasels just don't win.

I'm hoping I can get that shawl moving as well but I will see how much brain power I have. I might just plug and finish his sock. Then I have a hat for him to do. But I'd like that shawl making progress.

So yeah. making stuff...seems to help the brain or at least postpone the panic a bit. not sure what else I can do...right?

Thursday
Mel and I worked until noonish and then we got the last few things and on the road to Wisconsin for Warriors and Warlords. It was a nice drive and we got dinner about 45 mins from site. Got to site and gate was closed (just after 7pm) and there was no map to tell us where we could camp so we drove around and finally stopped at a nice spot to ask if we could setup our two tents. We ended up setting up right next to Duke Vlad and Duchess Petrenella which was super nice. We got our camp setup and chatted with a few folks we knew. The one thing that happened was one of our poles broke at the inset into the metal for the swing set support. Mel managed to repair it enough to make it work but we had to be very careful at setup. He will be making new poles for the double bell anyway...they are 15 years old and have dried out plus we ended up not being able to take them apart at the end of the event and they were strapped to the top of the tent. We also didn't have enough tent stakes or side ropes. Sighs but we made it work.

Anyhoo...we were tired and had beers and chatted with folks after a sweaty sweaty setup.

Friday
We all slept in on Friday and Mel was up making breakfast and brought me coffee in bed. Benton was grumpy but was better with food and meds and then he and Mel went to the field while I did the dishes and fixed up camp. We really did pack the bare minimum and I had bought new tubs for clothes etc since things can get wet (this was very good preplanning on my part as we will find later). Benton had a grand time doing youth combat, Mel had a grand time doing melee and then some pickups but he was burning out too quick since the humidity didn't let him recover as quick. I also attended a fiber guild meeting and worked on the emotional support chicken. It was a lovely day though folks thought it was hot....it wasn't by AZ standards but the humidity was high. Had a nice time chatting with Hagan and Sven and got a great pic of the guys and of Benton fighting.

I also got to meet Sami and Petrona who I met on the Between 2 Peers Discord and have become good friends. Especially when I was taking care of mom in South Dakota. Sami would call me to chat on his drives to see Petrona. I got so many hugs. It was awesome. Friday night had court which was short but sweet and had one laureling for a weaver. Surprised a few folks with us being there like Eithni and Sir Gwen and Maistari Hlif while we were all sitting in the circle during the ceremony. Tee hee. We hung out with Ralph MacCookin a long time friend from way back who is now in Calontir due to his kiddo. There was a torchlight tourney that took a while to get going but was fun to watch but the skeeters were fierce and Benton had gone missing (he was found hanging out in the arena and was told if he's doing that shit he can be tied to our sides at all events. Running wildish during the day with check ins is fine but at night...nope. Its dark you are back at camp or with us. But once the dewpoint hit I was done and getting cold. Mel and Benton had already gone back to camp.

Saturday the boys went out to fight and I picked Benton up to head to the youth archery shoot which was a monster shoot. Shoot a stuffed animal, you get to keep it. The kids had so much fun and worked together to get toys for kiddos who were not great shots. Benton did really well and got a stuffy for a very small boy who was too hot and was more they ready to melt down, he got a dino for himself and as we were cleaning up they said I could take one since Benton had helped so many kids. Its purple and batty and cute and weird and I love it.

I also managed to hit up the fiber guild again and do some shopping. I got a wonderful glass made by Duke Finn (Midrealm). He gave me my AoA so that is neat. I had not realized he had gotten his laurel for glass work. It had honestly never come up in conversation...he was a king and a Duke and so larger than life when I was a teen and in early college. Peers were so unknown etc. The rest of the fighting had been called off due to the heat index being in the scary levels. So the rest of the day was hanging and chatting with folks. We got news a weather system was moving in and a lot of folks pulled up camp. We weathered it out and had a really nice dinner after teh storm blew through. Went to court which included the Laureling of Sven's apprentice and a very good amount of schtick to offer Count Ajax admittance into both the Pelican and the MoD. We were super stoked for that.

Spent the evening then chatting with ralph and his daughter. Headed to bed about 1230 and the camp next door was still partying till after 1am. Were startled awake with the tornado sirens for the town going off and then scrambling to get out of bed, dressed and then rushed to the storm shelter. That was 245 in the morning. There wasn't a tornado anywhere near but there was the storm coming in and the town we think made sure we were safe since we were camping. We stayed sheltered until 430 when it was still raining and blowing and it finally stopped about 515 where we finally just dropped off to sleep. Oof. Got up about 8 and started packing down. luckily we had either put things in the van already or put things in tubs so the only things that were wet were floors and tents...though benton's clothes got soaked from a puddle. So we made due with him grabbing his shirt he drove up in. Got everything loaded and dried as best we could and then headed to perkins for brunch. Had a very nice meal and then it was on the road. I drove about 2 hours and then had to hand things off to mel and then I crashed hard asleep. We got home about 6 and unloaded and mel laid out tents while I got food on the grill the kiddo was in the shower. Then we got clothes started in the washer and it was an early bed for all of us. Its nice having a large driveway and a large deck to hang things on for drying.

So yeah, crazy ass weekend with the weather but it was super nice to see folks etc. Though next year if things show that weather pattern we will probably pack up early and find a hotel we are all still tired and its Wednesday.

I did manage on Monday night to finish the emotional support chicken and I'm almost done with my mohair spinning. will update on our dinner with my aunt later.

The Household had planned a sewing weekend for about 6 weeks to make sure we had time off and plans for travel to support etc. I was not in charge of this, I was there to help and be a SME for things. What ended up happening I was in charge and was SME and it was fun and productive but exhausting. Teaching someone who has never sewed to use a new to me and them machine, measuring and making patterns, showing how to do things in a good way for instruction. Dealing with craft goblins (folks who cut things out on the floor, don't put things away in the same spot and just lose track of things in general (craft adhd) was a lot. I'm a bit meticulous for when I work. I have my snips around my neck, chalk and marking stuff goes in one spot and does not move while we cut. I know I'm a bit anal retentive but when you have a factory setting ie multiple machines, setups etc its important to keep the flow by keeping the tools in place. Anyhoo...we got Fiona patterned for Norse style underdress and apron dress. Got the under and apron dress cut out. The apron was fully finished, the underdress needs the sides done and the hem and trim. We also finished a pair of pants she and poe had started, got a tunic cut and sewed that just needs hems, taught her how to use her machine and got her two pairs of modern pants hemmed and an old cloak cut and hemmed for her hobbit height. That was Sat 1-7pm, Sun 10-6 and Monday 10-4. I learned I'm not a fan of gravity fed irons since they get way too hot on the hand and are awkward with the placement of the wire and water line. It irons well but not into corners since the nose is big. But I was glad I had my industrial sized ironing board with the silver cover cause that was priceless.

Anyhoo...I came home very tired and brain dead each day and while the output was nice the person who planned this was not even involved until Monday after I bitched at them in text. Your mental health is similar to mine right now and I still went cause we suck it up and go to things we say we will go to...we don't just ignore things and don't come when you are expected. Sighs. Anyhoo. things are done and I have a clean studio and my work table can get a sewing machine installed on it and I can work on the quilt this next week. I'm going to force myself to not sit on the couch and to work in my studio on things. So yeah. We shall see how I feel about that when I'm done with work today. I managed to read some but other than that I was a a lump on the couch. I did watch through a few movies I'd seen before and Friday I was productive with cleaning the house up, including my studio, to have dinner and Magic: The Gathering time with Linnet, Mason, Benton and Ari. Mel made porch pizza and we had a nice time though Mason doesn't like to lose and Ari and I were just trying to figure out how to not die.

The weekend was just meh...hopefully I can gumption this weekend. Also, I bought the "emotional support chicken" pattern and I need to pull through some scraps to make that for Poe for all of the work with Wander.

Wander has been moved an assistive nursing facility while we wait on results. I think we will know more on Wednesday.

I will post sewing pictures later when I finish uploading NOLA and them.

well I ended the last post with me talking about how court was different. One thing I really liked was the local group had printed and laminated the baronial awards on one side and the kingdom awards on the other for folks to understand court and what awards were for. I want to steal this idea and shared it with the KW dicord. We walked Becca and rob in to court as the extended household since they are family family.

One IKA difference is the B&B don't swear fealty to the crown and they swear to serve on the sword of the barony not on the kingdom sword. Also, they don't have an award for territorial B&B when you step down. you may get a court barony and that is it. oof. So long and thanks for all the fish...not. They are also a Vivat kingdom with a wavy hand gesture which was a first for me.

After morning court I set at the fiber table and cast on a pair of Bamboo Field Mitts for Sir Justin for the war. It was fiddly and by the time I got it cast on and started I was tired. Plus I got cornered in a convo with the "sister" of a local from my barony in Atenveldt and she was quite the talker. It was okay. Sometimes you have to do that and she was a hoot to talk to. I got bundled up (it was 26F out) and walked around the tourney outside and stopped in at newcomers etc. It was nice but chilly. Glad I had all of the wool. The boys had a good time being hooligans (nicely). They ended up back at the cabin and playing virutal D&D...no books, one set of dice, no character sheets, all just in their heads and it was amazing to watch. I took a bit of a break before dinner and made sure the kiddos were washed and ready to go and things were setup for food. Teh cooks of the feast were awesome and had the full list of ingredients and I was able to mark the menu to note what I could and couldn't eat.

Also, I guess it got decided we were sitting head table. Which was a sudden change and we had to rearrange tables to watch kiddos. Thankfully we had surprised Becca and Rob with Aaron, Allie and Celyn. So Allie and B&R's friend Odde were awesome and watched the kiddos during the feast. At feast we got to know HRM Mary Isabel and she knows lots of folks we do including Zippy, Bjorn, Mina and Duchess Gabriel said everyone knows HRM. Lol. It was great fun and she's a fiber laurel so it was cool.

By the time dinner was finished and I was super tired. B&R had some things to do and I went back to see if the boys had destroyed things (they left before the end) and they were still playing virtual D&D. I got into pajamas and was reading my book when B&R and Mel came back. I guess they had to go do a B&B thing at a fire in teh cold. BRRRR. I was glad I was in jammies. lol. We were going to have an early morning and while folks were psuedo packing I figured out we could all travel to Golden Corral for group brunch on teh way to the airport. Allie and Aaron had an earlier flight so it worked perfectly.

We had a nice time and good food and was a nice decompress into the real world. Got into the car and headed to the airport and the rental car place. Benton forgot to hit the head on the way out of lunch and we had to make a mad break at the rental car place while I dealt with the car and luggage. Security was all good and funny until I realized I forgot my ipad there.

So all of our bags got pulled for more inspection. While we were waiting we saw the guy infront of us had magic cards. We all chatted magic and the poor TSA guy got involved and didn't want to fly his geek flag but did eventually. It was hilarious. His coworkers were super confused and it was hilarious. We headed to our gate and it was when I sat down I realized my ipad wasn't there. I made a mad dash and they had it. I had left it on the table by the inspection point. I had to unlock it for them and all good but many that was nuts. The gate was packed and we headed back to the main atrium adn found some rocking chairs to hang out at and watch the sculpture above a bar.

It was nice to chill and I knit. Our flight boarded on time and we headed out. What i hadn't realized was our flight in Phx was super quick connect and luckily we got off the plane cause folks waited and then our plan was late. It was raining in Phx and then in Tucson. But we got home, luggage made it and the cats were happy we were home.

Monday was work and schoool and Mel crashed after picking up the boy. He was not doing good and Benton was not either. I took it easy and in the morning neither one of them go out of bed and I stayed home to take care of them. I ran a quick errand to the grocer and by noon I was succumb to the sick. Thursday we tested cause Wednesday was gone. The positive for Covid hit so quickly the control line hadn't even set. Benton was clear. Saturday we tested again and we were barely postive and Benton negative and Monday we were all clear. I got better and better but I'm still not 100%. I was mostly hit by tired, headache and just confusion. I read and slept and yeah. I think the fact I'm missing the greater saphenous vein on my right leg means and have active varicose veins it hit me harder than mel but he still has a wicker cough.

I had to cancel my class at KWHSS, my massage and van maintenance. Sighs. Its okay. just sighs.

But on the book front I finished Book #3 House of M, I read #4 Bookshops and Bonedust by Travis Baldree, I read #5 Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher and #6 Patterns in the Sand (seaside knitters #2). I'm now on #7 Moon Spinners (Seaside knitters #3). So I guess not bad for a month into the year?

We have War of the Phoenix next week and the weather is supposed to be a bit drippy but the new site is supposed to drain well. We shall see. We shall see.
