Well its been a crazy week. How is it not always crazy am I right? I was in work twice and can I say having my own office is so nice. I feel so fancy now. Its actually helped with a lot of folks stopping by and bringing issues but its nice to have. I did make it to the gym two more days last week and I'm feeling stronger. Managing 20 pushups (still on my knees) without issue and lifting heavier its good. Not getting a full things thru the workout but its okay. Little steps.
With everything being busy I decided that a group outing to a movie would be a good bday thing to do. So we all went to Renfield at Roadhouse. The movie is delightful and bloody in the fun way not gore for gore's sake. Nick Cage ate the screen and had way too much fun hanging around with a bloody martini glass. It did not go where I expected and the jokes you see in the previews are just the beginning "Fuck you Kyle" will make no sense and its a running gag. Awkwafina is amazing and fun and you feel for her.
Mel got me a Bias Tape maker as my big gift and birthday cake legos. Which were amazing. I'm stoked about the maker since its a fiddly task to do. Eventually the sewing mojo will hit I hope so I can use it. I need to turn over the stashes and bomb things again. I'm kinda back to brain being weird but that is I think the let down from going to disneyland.
So Birthday was good. Work has been nuts...so nuts. I worked so much before we left for Disneyland due to EAC season and now afterwards its a lot as well. Sighs.
So anyway, Ari and I went to Disneyland the last weekend of April. It was amazing. Seriously wow. So glad we stayed at a Disney hotel but next time we will try to stay at the Grand Californian cause its physically closer to the parks and wow super posh. BUt the Disneyland Hotel was very nice. Well appointed and comfy. The carpets in teh halls are squishy which I realized was for your feet at the end of a day. The beds were the right amount of squish and stiffness. Teh vanity fixtures were dickies (dick looking mickey's) and the only complaint we had was no trashcan at the vanity and the pressure in the shower was "meh." but it was very very nice and the cleaning staff was awesome and put our stuffies on teh bed nicely.
We took I-8 to San Diego to I-5 to Anaheim. The distance from San Diego to Anaheim is 100 miles. That is slightly less than the drive to phx. The last 35 miles took 2 hours cause of traffic. Google maps kept trying to get us to go through on I10 the whole way. Like seriously, even when we were at the last possible way you could do that it wanted us to turn around and go on I10...through Indio and Desert Center. No, I'm not going that way. Stoopid voice in a box. I was okay with 2 hours...it was just packed with people but not too many people being rude or unsafe.
After we got our luggage into the hotel we headed into Downtown Disney to find food and we got bar service at Ballast Point (YES!) I'm so happy to finally have gotten to eat and drink there. I love their beer so much and we need to get their lime and salt to come towards us. We meandered around the shops in downtown disney and got our Magicbands. They are fun for games in the parks with the Disney Play app if you want to play things in Galaxy's Edge and they give you badges for riding rides. I didn't turn it on until day two for Play but it was cool. Plus you could do gestures to get statues and Medallions to light up and play music. It was fun to come up to people taking pictures to make their pictures even better with sparkle. They also worked for entrance into the park after the first entrance. Unlike at Disney World where you can use it to pay for things you can't at Disneyland/California Adventure but I guess that is coming soon.
We used the advantage of being in 30 mins early both days to get on rollercoasters first.
My first ride was Space Mountain. I took my glasses off and I think I missed a few things but I was nervous about going on a roller coaster when its been 30+ years since I road one last? And swings can make me dizzy? It was fun and amazing and having seen the building of that ride on the disney channel once and its so cool. So to go over what rides we rode:
Saturday:
Space Mountain
Its a Small World
Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin (attempted, broke before we got on)
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (omg the painting is amazing!)
Pirates of the Caribbean
Haunted Mansion
Jungle Cruise
Indiana Jones Adventure (OMG this was so crazy!)
Enchanted Tiki Room
Mad Tea Party
Dumbo's Flying Elephant ride (longest line of all time)
Big Thunder Railroad
Smugglers Run in Galaxy's Edge
We also built droids! I got an R-4 Unit and we got into the cantina!
Plus lots of shopping
Sunday:
Incredicoaster
Pixar Pal Around Ferris Wheel
Little Mermaid Ariel's Underwater Adventure
Mater's Junkyard Jamboree (this was way too fun)
Attempted The Car's Ride twice...it was broken
Guardians of the Galaxy mission Breakout
Webslingers a Spiderman adventure
Attempted Mike and Sully to the Rescue and realized no cars was our thing
Bakery Tour at the Bourdin Bakery...its a walk through but amazing
Mark Twain Riverboat
Pirates of the Caribbean
Haunted Mansion (it broke down in the graveyard but that was okay, more to see)
Rise of the Resistance
Monorail
We didn't get to everything but man we road a lot of rides and walked 11 miles on Saturday and 12+ miles on Sunday. We also got to see a bunch of Westie Friends for drinks and snacks on Sunday for Thorfin's belated 50th birthday. It was 3 years ago and this trip was postponed that long.
The ordering of food in the app was perfect. No waiting in line. You really do need a hoodie towards night time due to the humidity and it felt cold. I got a Disneyland hoodie and a cool zip up jacket from Avengers Campus. Being able to drink in California Adventure was nice and Ari and I are used to drinking during cons so Saturday we got dumb and needed to eat and it was odd. We did get lunch at Trader Sam's which was boozy and good food but that was our first meal of the day. That was not a good plan.
All in all it was the trip we needed. We were grinning like fools the entire time. since last posting and noticing I finished:
#11 Paladin's Strength
#12 Paladin's Hope
#13 Instinct: An Animal Rescuers Anthology ed by LJ Hachmeister
#14 Rattling Bone by Jordan L. Hawk
#15 Three Mages and a Margarita by Annette Marie
#16 I'm reading Rise of the Alpha Huntress by Neo Edmund
So I'm still reading..just slower I guess. Though we are in the 17th week of the year so maybe not too shabby.
I will write about this week later....
