Ugh. Its been touch and go for the last day or so. I was doing pretty good last night after I got home. I slept for over an hour and then mel was kind enough to make us a comfort food dinner of pancakes and eggs. CJ came over with Ally and butterfly wasn't too keen on that. Obsidian was curious but kept getting upset since butterfly was upset. Cj left and Ari arrived. Ari and I chatted about bone carving and then she and mel got to work on casting. Unfortunately, they found a problem in the yard. We had an outdoor kitty we would see from time to time and it got locked in the baronial trailer on saturday night by accident. On sunday when it was opened it flew out and out of the park. Well, we found out that it was a she and she had 4 kittens in the yard under the wheels for richard's cart. With some neighborly nursing help we got them fed and ari was nice enough to take them home and feed them. If anyone in the Tucson area would like to foster them they are about 4 weeks old. Please contact mistress ari before noon today.

I kinda had a break down after ari left. I feel bad and sad that we couldn't take them and that somehow (even though I know its not) I feel that its our fault their momma got locked in the trailer. I was okay after a little while but the stress of the work week, oxygen deprivation and exhaustion just didn't mix well with cute little babies. Got to bed way later than expected and my lungs still hurt.

It feels like some one took a bottle cleaner to them and scrubbed them too hard. I hope I don't have to take my inhaler too much today. It doesn't have the side effects of albuterol but its still very drying on my throat. Mel and I are pretty sure the my sulfur exposure due to the furnace being on on monday is mostly to blame since everything had been very under control until them. I need to make sure to shut my studio window or turn on the exhaust fan this weekend so when charlie comes over to work on more stuff it won't get into the house.

Tonight we have dinner with Storvarr and his parents to discuss the apprentice stuff. We're going to mei hon so hopefully the hot and sour soup works on my asthma as well. I haven't even begun packing for barmaids but we have friday off so hopefully that will work. I'm still trying to figure out if I'm fighting or not. If I still feel like this I won't be.

I would have had a kitty melt down too.

I've already got my two girls and any more would really be pushing me to crazy cat lady. I've got some friends that are kind of looking for kittens though. Any pictures by chance?

On the lung thing-- you ARE taking a break from biking for at least a few days, right?

yeah, I slept yesterday versus biking...I'm probably gonna do the same today. Though its going better right now but I'm not sure if that's the extra benadryl I took last night or I'm actually better...we shall see.

Firstly, and most important, is that i hope the breathing sorts itself out - yup, definitely no cyling for a while!

also.. FUrnace??? oh WOW! when i saw you mention casting a few posts ago, i thought you meant for a play or something! lol!!

Im dead jealous, cos im rather fascinated with the idea of making "stuff" - especially in a furnace! (wanted to be a Smithy when i grew up - not horseshoes but swords and fancy things! ( i read too many fantasy books so I saw myself as a big blonde guy sweatign in a leather apron :O)

Anyway, take care, treat yourself to a big chill out and hope you feel better sooooon!

In our shop we have a 100oz bronze casting furnace, a buffet table that can melt pewter, a toaster oven that can do low temp glass enamel and in my studio we have a bead annealing kiln since I'm a beadmaker. Yeah, my husband got his laurel in the SCA for making stuff.

I haven't used the bronze furnace but have been there when it has been used but I have done quite a bit of my own pewter casting. Though I really, really need to get back to beads.

Nice!

That sounds really funky!

Closest i got was when I was doing stained glass, using the kiln. I was allowed to practice and use the glass paints (the kind that starts as powder).

I had this really cool idea. I wanted to re-create the famous Dahli (however you spell his name!) scene - Y'know the one with the floppy clocks? I thought that i could use opalescent glass, paint the clock face on and "slump" it over the edge of the kiln shelf!

I had it pictured in my head, but my boss wouldnt let me do it (either jealous of the idea, or cos the paints were expensive.. er.. or both! lol).

Lots of warm tea helps to sooth the throat too. Have you got a humidifier in your house? I've heard it works wonders.

I've been thinking that with lunch I will do the green tea thing. It helped a lot when I had my sternum seperated after estrella 2 years ago. I keep forgetting I have other remedies. Course I think a cat and a nap would do me wonders as well.

Fluids do wonders for helping to clear out the sinus'. I think it will help flush your system. Also a hot shower does great things too.
