What a nice weekend.
Feb. 28th, 2011 08:35 amWell, work was pretty crazy last week and I'm definitely feeling the stress of trying to get things done before my leave of absence but things are listed out and I have a plan so that helps immensely. Left work early on thursday due to having the 36 week podling checkup and birth plan session. Mel and I had to drive separately but that was okay. We got there with time to spare and both brought projects to work on. The meeting went well and I felt much more relaxed when I got home. Mel headed off to kung fu and I made dinner. I then worked from home for a few hours to make up time and to just relax into doing slides for a presentation I have on Tuesday.
Friday mel went to work for a few hours and I slept in and just pampered myself most of the day. I got my hair cut, my toes done and then got a wonderful massage at Cortiva. Got home and worked on getting the house picked up and made dinner for mel, mariah and I. She was over working on armor. I was very tired by the time we got things picked up and we went to bed just about 10pm. Saturday dawned nice and we got up and mel made nummy waffles for breakfast and then it was an onslaught of cleaning (vacuuming, floors and sweeping) and laundry to get the house into ship shape for the boys side of the shower. I left just on time to make it to Ed and Candaces for my shower and it was so nice. Jaylee made the cutest cupcakes as seen here.

They were so cute and tasty. Ari had gotten onesies to have folks decorate and the podling will be well stocked in cute artwork onesies. There were also lots of wonderful handmade gifts including a cthullu rattle. OMG! Headed back home and the boys were finishing up brewing the first batch of beer and being mostly not sober. Had some pizza and spent the evening chatting with Chuck and Tati. We finished watching a movie and then it was bedtime...again just after 10pm. Mel managed to get 2 beers on to brew and that was awesome.
Sunday we awoke to a blanket of snow in the backyard at about 7am. When we got up at 8am it was already starting to melt and when we headed to breakfast at Joes there was only a bit left on the cars and the water was pouring off the roof. I took some good camera pictures but need to still off load them but here is a iphone shot. The mountains were really pretty and white still which is cool.

Had a wonderful breakfast with Ed, Holly, Candace and Carol (Candace's Mom). Then it was home to go through the baby shower stuff and then mel and I headed off to Babies R Us to complete things off the registry. Target was a bust for things on the registry we wanted so we will be getting a few things online now. By the time we finished I was the worse for wear and we stopped and got lunch at 5 Guys and Fries and ran into Chuck. Had a great lunch and then when we were all leaving we ran into Samir. Very cool. We both felt really good after food and then headed to Ace Hardware for a few things and then home. By that point my body was done with me moving. I was sore from the cleaning and excitement of the day before and I sat with my feet up on the couch, an afghan and two cats on my lap while I knit on the podling hat. Mariah came over later to work on finishing up her grieves and I continued to work on the hat. I managed to twist the stitches on my crochet caston and I think it was how I got them on the needle to start with..I'm gonna have to look at that again but it worked out just fine. I managed to get it all done except for attaching the pom pom...mel requested the pom and after I got it made and showed him he grinned...so yes, the podling hat has a cute little pompom.
So, here is a picture.

So cute I have to say. Its currently drying from being blocked and when I get home today I'll attach the pompom. So, that means I get to work on the sweater starting on Wednesday. Yay! I hope that is a quick knit...we shall see but Becky at the shop will be helping me. I also hope that we have just enough yarn since the hat took hardly any. I need to weigh the ball but its probably less than 100 yards. We shall see though. Mel probably needs to spin up some more but when we get to that we shall get to that.
So, the weekend was full of excitement and baby stuff and now I'm tired. I was perfectly content to have stayed in bed all warm and snug this morning but I that pesky work thing. All good though. Only 8 working days left. Yikes!
