ianuk: (here's looking at you)
Work was dull. The drawing reviews I'm doing are tedious but necessary. I found the most ubiquitous note ever that had us laughing "Soldering shall be in accordance with applicable specification." So if the Barnam and Bailey Circus has a solder spec we could use that. Seriously. LOL. But by the time quitting time came I was toasty and my brain was soup.

Fought traffic to the knit shop, we had weather moving in again and while we were there the first pass blew through which took out power poles etc around town. Didn't loose power there or at home but things flickered. I got to show off my TDFleece spinning and the cat. I worked on the Chevron scarf that I blogged about Rule Number 3 breaking and its still effed up. But I'm making do. The comments from people on Ravelry also show that its effed up and the pattern writer is still being rude. I have about 2/3 of a second ball left and then will be done with it. I'm all about finishing old UFO's (unfinished objects).

Got done there and headed home. Mel was watching Minecraft stuff on youtube. I headed back to the studio and managed in 2 hours to get the second sleeve on the jacket, the armscye hem turned, the neckline tack stitched and all of the last of the fabric for the skirt ruffles cut out. I have no idea why I was so scared to cut into the sheer fabric. It was easy, just goes to show I don't trust my own abilities with things at times to the point of nerfing myself. Put everything away and stacked the fabric up for sewing tonight.

The trim is just laid around the neckline...not sure I will use that or something else yet.

Pile of fabrics for the ruffle booty!!!!

Weather was also nuts last night. I guess there were 61 mph winds at the base (1/2 mile from my house. crazy.

To Do List )

So a weird day at work. I'm going to be working another new program about 1/4 time starting soon. Which is just plain weird if you ask me but due to highering freezes over the last 25 years etc there is a large gap between where I sit and the folks below and above me in experience. I have a lot of it, in good stead and I'm wanted so I'm happy about that and its a great opportunity but I'm feeling a bit weird about it none the less.

Left work and got home to get a return to zappos on some shoes. Clarks just don't fit me...I don't know why I keep trying to find ones that will. Then I had to return cat food to Petco which was a snafu...but it worked out. If I had searched the hatchback a bit more thoroughly the first time it would have been easy and I could have gotten my last errand to Lowes done. Oh, well.

Oh and the cooler is still not fixed. They said they fixed it and Mel felt like Han Solo and listened to it clunk clunk and not work. The fly wheel is off and not going back on. I called and hopefully I can get resolution today. Grumble.

Additionally, the Fit is now under recall on the airbag issue for the passenger side only. They suggest no one sits in the front passenger seat. Really? So I will call today and see when they will be getting to my car and when I can go pick up the rental.

So, by the time I got home from errands I was tired and a bit cranky. Sat down at home, called the cooler guy to complain leaving a message and sat. Mel had made steak quesadillas and that hit the spot for dinner. Ben loved them and snarfed it and an entire container of edamame down. I changed clothes and got the rest of the front room and the living room looking more serviceable for scribble. We had a small crewe (sigrid, Sioux, Ari and I + Wander). Ari and I were in mindmeld mode that made Sigrid twitch a bit.

I was bouncing between things. First we pulled scrolls for everything on the scroll lists that we know we need. Then I looked up lolita hair styles and mucked around with that for a bit.

Then I sat down and went through my case and found the 5 painted blanks that I needed to put calligraphy upon. I callig'd 2 of them.

Paint by Sigrid, Callig by me
AOA all by Me.

And then once everyone left I sat and did a bit of spinning and started on the last 2 oz of rambouillet on the 4th bobbin.
Stage 16: 4th bobbin of Rambouillet started

Got a shower and snuggled into bed after reading a bit. I was zonked though. I woke up and started in on things and realized that the internet blew up over lots of issues. Trump, racists on Twitter, people being evil to one another and just want to go home and knit. Sighs.

But gonna get things working today at work. Gonna pick up the boy, make a good dinner and then cut out more ruffles than I can think about with Ari for our Lolis. Goals, I have them.

So, at the end of the day [livejournal.com profile] lferion commented that Benton stole all of the awesome.  And I agree. He had a perfect day at school and I, Mel and Ari all suffered.

To start...Monday at work I had a feeling after looking at some data that a supplier was not doing what they were supposed to do.  Its not my hardware, i.e. I'm not responsible for it, but I do look over it a bit since it gets used in one of my assemblies. Things just looked odd and the more I dug into the data the more I was convinced I was right. I wrote up a summary, put people who actually know the hardware and the supplier on distro and waited while they walked through my thoughts.  Yesterday it came to a head and yes, I'm completely and utterly right. And its sucky. Like, can't ship hardware sucky. Now, its not like the stuff will break...what the supplier did was a better than for us but its not what they were contracted to do for us.  So now its a papertrail, paperwork nightmare and we have to figure it out with the supplier who has been silent to our questions.  Sigh.  Left work for the gym and wanted to knock things out and then hit food/knit night and then do some shopping.

The gym was okay but I had folks trying to flip sets with me on squats so they could use teh deadlift area and the pull up bar. They really could have waited. I do quick sets with about 30sec-60sec between and they slowed me down considerablly. It was kinda rude. I should have said no but oh, well.  Then my phone started blowing up with phone calls and its hard to answer your phone when its in an arm thingy for running.  I need to remember that I think I can talk through it and just use the headphones to hear the convo but I didn't think of that since I was in the middle of 350lb calf raises.  Sighs.  Mel needed to pick up the kiddos from school for Ari since her work went to hell and it was a bit of a cluster due to this and that and I need to just make sure they have each other's cell numbers so I'm not the messenger. Sighs.  Got back onto my work out and hit the deck for some core work.  I need to remind Bob the gym manager to pump up the fitness balls they are geting squishy.  I've started doing my planks using the Bosun and I think its much easier for me to do in some ways and way harder in others. Its just more comfy for my hands and they were bothering me after having to snatch/grab the bar with my squat weights over and over to switch the setup with that one guy.  Sheesh.  I ran/walked for 15 mins and then got changed for my awesome night out.

Yeah, not so much.  I took a different route and shouldn't have...too much traffic and stoopid people. Realize that the store I needed to hit closed at 8pm which means I needed to skip knit night. My coupons at the store after I FINALLY found something to buy were not as good as I had hoped. Sighs.  Then I picked up cat litter since Mel had said we were almost out.  Then I hit Chipotle and while standing in line Mel asked if I could pick up cat food.  Sighs.  I waited for a busy line and got my chicken bowl to find out that they were out of iced tea?  WTF?  I dont' drink soda and it was crowded and loud and I was just done so I asked for it to do. I guess my face was distraught enough I got my food for free. WTF?  Okay. I heade back to petco to get the cat food and then ate my dinner at Target, in the quiet of the starbucks area.  I got things for food stuffs and first aid supplies (mel had exhausted the guaze and tape due to his elbow) and I found a work out slip on coverup for when I get done with the gym and want to stay warm.  I got home from my errands at 909pm. Mel and Wander were busy prepping food for Estrella Tuesday Night dinner and I was exhausted and grumpy.

So, I check my calorie intake for the day and realized that I had ate clean and good and worked out and got 7k steps in that day so I had a beer and knit.  I needed it.  The cats were exstatic that I was sitting on the couch and all was well.

Today, hopefully not as crazy.  I've already hosted an impromptu international telecon and well, yeah. I have a report to slam out today and other tasks to clean up.  Hoping for good and not staying too late today.

a bit distracted the last little bit. I think I'm attempting to get a cold.  BLEAH.

Made a piggy for bab Abrue who will be born on the 23rd of February.

Finished one of mel's xmas socks and I tossed it about and the fiber crewe said "Ivan is a free elf!"
I still hate the color and plan on finishing them so I can work on something I like better like the bright orange I got him. I told him they would be for Valentines Day since we will go see Deadpool.

Got a text message a bit ago from my mom.
She totaled her truck by getting rear ended on the interstate by a semi.  She was at the ER awaiting xrays when she texted me.  I immediately called and chatted with her BFF.  WIll know more soon.  She was coherent and sore. Probably whiplash and bruising.  The airbags didn't go off and the truck didn't flip (thank the gods).  If she had been in the Rav4 she'd have flipped.  So will no more soon just weird.  The semi was going 75, she was going 50 due to the conditions (black ice) and I guess didn't see her in the big navy blue chevy silverado???

UPDATE: She's fine, nothing broken just sore and probably whiplash.

Just weird week thus far...

This was supposed to have been live tweeted but we had too much commentary between us all but first and foremost:

So, it is an awful movie. It has lots of triggers for people who have issues with 1) stalking, 2) rape, 3) non-consent!
This is the movie to show people what consent is NOT.
This is the movie to show people what a healthy relationship is NOT.
This is the movies to show people what BDSM is NOT!
This is a movie to show just how creepy the themes in Twilight really are…see above.

I’m pretty appalled by this film. We were all appalled by this film.

It was not sexy times, it was a big turn off, it was depressing and creepy and how one messed up guy could ruin a nice girl on sex in general.
I can’t believe they are making more of this crap. Sighs.
The public is DUMB!

We had a busy weekend with mel and I hitting the Pima County Fair to see Full Sail play. They are a band with folks I work with and it was a lot of fun. We had a nice lunch, tooled around the sheep exhibits and then hit up the exhibit halls. Mel got me my bday present of a pretty emerald necklace/earring set. We got to picking up Benton right on time and then had a quiet evening at home. Saturday we got up and headed to Barmaids with [livejournal.com profile] lferion. We had a fun day. Mel watched the boy while I fought in the rapier and then the hardsuit tourneys. I didn't come in last in the rapier and I guess I came in second in the hardsuit. Kane was an awesome bodyguard during the tourney and since it was really an multicombat situation that was helpful while I killed people he watched our back and we did well.

We were tanked by the time we got done with barmaids. I had dumb fighter brain and so when we got about 20mins outside of home I called in dinner to our local chinese place and we picked it up before going home. Benton went straight to bed without dinner he was so tuckered out. We all felt that way and after food and a summer shandy a piece it was nice to relax.

Sunday morning we got up and mel put on his biking gear and I put on my running gear and we met at Joes. I ran the 1.6 miles to joes (long way around from our house) with Benton in the stroller and made really good time. [livejournal.com profile] ickaimp met us for breakfast and we had a good time. Got home, changed clothes and then went out to the zoo. We took Benton's wagon out with us and had a good time. The peacocks were in great abundance and we had a really nice time. Benton went down for a nap (eventually) and I headed to Costco and then home. I was tired. I'd done a lot of physical stuff in two days and not a lot of sleep, I was weary but I did good and went to the gym on monday too.

Tuesday mel left for New Jersey for business. I was up with him a little after 5am. We had an okay night on Tuesday. I got more work done on the court book and then Wednesday the weird started. I had replaced the batteries in my alarm clock and I set it wrong. I got up later than I wanted since its just me at home and I have lots to do in the AM to get me and Benton ready. Got in to get Benton and he had wet the bed. Everything was soaked....he had gotten out of his diaper a bit and it caused the leak. Boys will play with themselves when ever they want...sighs. Got things torn apart and got him dried off and dressed. It was a battle to get him in clothes because he did not want to be up. Got him to daycare and had a rough day at work. I was soo tired. But I hit the gym and did 3 full circuits of the quick workout room and I increased the weights a notch on each time through. I was soaked and tired and ready to be heading home. I went to pick up Benton and he had had a day. He bit someone on the playground, was a brat and then decided during afternoon snack to dump all of his milk on his clothes. We got home okay and then when unloading the truck Benton decided to grab the tailpipe. Sighs. This led to about an hour of screaming and crying and obstinate behavior while I treated the burns and got dinner on the table and got him to finally eat it. He was finally in bed about 730-745pm but he was out. I dinked around before sitting back down to work on the court book for an hour and then I did the trash/cat box work and went to bed. At 1230-1am I woke up to Benton crying. We got up and got icewater, a new icepack for his hand and another dose of Advil. He was out pretty quickly after that and I went back to bed too.

Today was okay. He didn't want to eat breakfast right away but was happy to see the garbage truck etc. Normal Thursday routine without his dad though. Dropped off at daycare and they will be keeping his hand looked at and we should be okay. Everyone hopes he has a better day today.

I've got so much to do before we leave before dawn on Saturday that I'm thinking of skipping Dojo night. I need to get the key to someone to lock up. But we shall see....
ianuk: (confused)
The last 48 hours have been a bit stressful. Mel's dad is in the hospital in Washington state. Mel and [livejournal.com profile] fibergeek are traveling today to see him and the BIL and I are holding down our respective homes waiting for the call that we need to make flight arrangements etc. I actually hope I don't have to make those arrangements and we are currently in a holding pattern.

For everything else that means that SCA plans for event attendance is in flux dependent on our travel plans. I am just looking for folks to spend time with this week if people want to hang out in the evenings. I'm working on court planning and taxes (way exciting no?) but company will make the time go by quicker.

Benton's birthday is Thursday. I need to see about bringing something in for him to celebrate with his class and I still plan on our quiet dinner on Friday but this is all dependent on the other situation. I know he probably won't remember it but keeping things normal would be good. We shall see.
ianuk: (thoughts)
Discovery made its last flight on my birthday to the Smithsonian's Udvar-Hazy Hangar. Pictures taken show it flying by the Washington Monument that shows clear damage from the earthquake. Sighs..so sad.

ianuk: (crafts)
So, its FRIDAY!!!!

I get to have a date of lunch and a movie with dear [livejournal.com profile] posadnik_ivan and then I can also hopefully get my toes pedicured....its been a really, really long time since I did that.

This weekend brings us Kingdom 12th Night and then War Practice. I'm anxious to get my but back into my armor again. Though I have a feeling its gonna be too loose again since the boy is almost weaned. Oh, well, I know of one project in my future will be to re-lace my strapping to get it to work and recovering my war shield and getting my new tourney shield ready to go. Plus I also need to get more boy clothes. So I can look cute out of armor.

So, I'm hoping the weekend will be good. I have a bunch of SCA business to take care of but I think that will go well and get things off of my plate of worry & aggravation. Me annoyed is not a good thing. Me pissed off enough I'm gonna talk to your peer about your behavior is something else entirely especially if this behavior would eventually make my barony; I'm a Bannthegn after all, its still mine in some respects; look bad.
ianuk: (crow)
Its our virtual friday and I had been entertaining taking Monday off for mental health and well...that ain't happening now.

Found out this morning that we have hardware that is debonding...we don't know why and our supplier is on vacation so we don't know the process they used. Our materials folks are looking into it and hopefully there is an easy fix.

On the materials front one of my coirkers who had been out on medical leave passed away. She was a great lady. I guess she'd been fighting lots of health issues but all I knew about was arthritis which was causing her to need a hip replacement which is what she had been out for. She's going to be greatly missed.

So, kinda a downer of a day and I'm not feeling to cheery to start with. The weather is cold and rainy and all I want is a nap with the cats and snuggles from the Kemp boys.

The weekend will be mostly scribal stuff and probably baking things to make myself feel better.
ianuk: (wtf)
So, there has been a massive storm here in Tucson on the southside. The power has flickered here at work and our wonderful building (that was designed to take a 10 foot snow load) is leaking like a sieve. They shut down lots of hallways in it due to ceilings collapsing (not the full ceiling just the tiles etc and lots of water everywhere. My desk is okay. We had marble sized hail hit for quite a while and its basically been raining since around lunch time. The roads are flooded so badly around the plant we are advised to to stay put until the rain clears. Whoa!

The cell phone repeaters in the building are down and our outside phone system just came back up. So things are interesting. We shall see how things go.

On the way home from family dinner after Yehudah's funeral. It was hard. Very hard to be there and see him laid out. He seemed bigger than life and well , honestly...when have I ever looked down at him? I'm pretty short. Everyone spoke very well and his son was an awesome speaker. There was humor and sadness and pure grief observed but my. Own take is that he and Master Andrew are at the pearly gates telling Saint Peter that he should take a break and that they can handle security. That is the image in my brain and it makes me happy. I hope I'm right.
