The Me Day

Dec. 4th, 2009 11:46 am

Well it's an off Friday and I'm spending it pampering me. Got the car worked on and am now enjoying a foot massage and pedicure. Later it's an eye appointment and then some time at grandmas. After that it's hair cut and some color to help my bike trashed hair.

Mom's project is coming along and mel is busy spinning more yarn. It's turning out neat and I really do hope she likes it. If not. I'll use it.

Have a happy Friday and a good weekend.

Most Excellent Pie!

Man I can't win for trying today. Figured out about 1pm that I had screwed up the key lime pies yesterday. See evaporated milk and sweetened condensced milk are not the same thing. But in my tired state on shopping last night I bought the wrong thing and made pies. Today while at the store I realized my mistake. No bigee. But annoying. Mel is gonna make key lime pie ice cream with it but still omg annoying. Then I went shopping for curtains.

Wow. Anna's Linens has a good selection and pretty good prices. Still expensive but we have 4 huge windows. Then it was pie plate shopping of fail. No body has the ones we like and the store I finally knew would was closed until Friday. Le sigh. I'm tired and have 3 more pies to make after the key limes get out of the oven. That was 3 hours of my time pretty wasted.

Plus I'd like to get the curtains done in the family room. Oh did I mention that a burnt my finger pretty good too? Yeah. It hurts. Well time to get things going.

Almost home from Coronation. What a weekend of fun and court. Raylee and Will stepped down from their summer of luv to an oleo of 60s music tunes filked by Master Sim, Mistress Magdalen and I believe [livejournal.com profile] spunkybluegirl. It was fun.

I went into the day not quite sure what my place in things was since this is the first time I've ever beebchamberlain. But I've had chamberlains so I kinda know what us needed. All went well though. Especially the one and only award for[livejournal.com profile] american_knight and [livejournal.com profile] duchess_asa's first court. They gave [livejournal.com profile] msgolda a court barony and her scroll was my sekrit squirrel project. I'll paste photos soon cause they are on he camera not the phone which only has in progress stuff.

It was awesome to be up there to watch all of that transpire. So awesome to see one of my heroes get 1)something from my own hand and 2)get something so well deserved.

The court us running smoothly. Sancha , Sean and I are a really really good team. Thanks to all for their help.

I'm relaxed and that makes me happy. Even with all of he hard work ahead we've got a great team to make it happen which is most excellent.

Awaiting response to the texts and will then start making calls. After breakfast then I have lots of callig to do and then music stuff all good though.

Well we saw 6 museums today: The Mingei International Crafts, The Museum of Man, The Air and Space, The San Diego History, The Model Railroad Museum which was uber awesome, the Automobile Museum. Quite the busy day even for Museum Rats like us. The thing is ... The museums are small but very nicely presented. We've Been spoiled by the Smithsonian and Pima Air and Space. If u go to San Diego get the $65 pass it's worth it

So we are now at Karl Strauss. And the sampler as seen below:

Shows lots of beers but nothing darker than an Oktoberfest. Good Ipa's though. We relived our dinner from our wedding night of burgers and beer. Nom. nom. All good. Course they do have a heffeizen and a Belgian we both like. Which is impressive since I hate both styles.

The day is early and we realized that things don't open until 10 am at the park so we are sitting and enjoying coffee and relaxing until it's time to go.

Had a very nice time yesterday we went to the zoo and the natural history museum befoe everything closed. It was a good day and I got lots if good photos an I was very glad that I took my large lens. The zoo animals were all awesome and they had a few we've never seen before. The natural history museum was small on collections but what it did have was really really well done. They did a lot of skeletons and the half of it was bone the other half was the animal with skin etc. They also had a computer program that showed all of the plate movements in the earth plus and minus 200 million years. We also got to see Dinosaurs Alive in 3D which was quite delightful. We do recommend to all to get the deluxe package cause u get lots of inclusions in your ticket that aren't part of normal admission to the zoo and museums.

Got home very foot sore and had dinner at the hotel restuarant the elephant and castle. Good beer in draft and awesome pub food.

Tonight we hope to hit the Carl Strauss brewery as well. Good trip so far

Well. Stone brewery was awesome. The tour was faboo and they make way more beers than we ever see in Tucson. Course I got the phone number of the guy to call to fix that so all shall be for given.

One of the things I learned is that stone ha yo become their own distributor to actually get off of the ground. So they carry a lot of the other craft beers we luv and many we've never had. I had the craftsman .5 IPA and mel wants to clone it. I'm also very enamored with Stone's Porter. Nummy

The tour was very informative. The food was nice, a bit spendy but nice. Though I like rock bottoms mac n cheese better ut the homemade sausage was really good.

We picked up a few presents for a few folks which will be awesome to give. I've got a protein shake and a cuppa waiting for me and then I think it will be bed. The balconey door ia open making things nice. And here is our view

It's quite nice actually.

Just got back from the new Nimbus Bistro Pub with [livejournal.com profile] duchess_asa. Food was good. Portions were a bit small. Beer was good but the wait staff didn't know the beer that well. And they don't have the nitro for the stout that I like.

It was very bust due to the U of A game. But we sat in a side room near the brew room that wasn't as loud. The had view screens all over for the game which was nice for Holly the sports fan.

All in all not too bad.

Well I got up and biked even though the lungs protested mightily. Then it was home for breakfast a shower and heading to the Unique Boutique craft fair. Got some really cute holiday gifts and some other fun things. Including homemade tortillas and a loam of nummy chocolate bread. Got coffee on the way home, hand some lunch and once I finish my mocha I'll get on to cleaning the house and getting fabric cut out before dinner with [livejournal.com profile] duchess_asa. Good day.

Well having the taste test if my fav porters. St Brigid's Porter by the Great Divide in Denver has been a fav since college and it's been my standard ever since. Then after moving out here I got to try Sante Fe Porter from the Sante Fe Brewing Co has been in heavy rotation whenever Bevmo has it in stock. Now after tasting them side by side, beero e beero I can't make up my mind. I guess I shall drink more and see.
