Work has been busy and I've been trying to go through drawings at a good clip but its draining on the brain.  Got home on Friday absolutely exhausted and the boys weren't home.  It was weird.  I guess Mel picked up stuff at Ed's before they got home and then they were off again for dojo stuff. I was left tired and sleepy and curled up reading after mucking up my knitting once again.

They got home and were hungry and I wasn't. I was feeling very off.  I'm not sure if I'm allergy icky or what but yeah.  I had beer for dinner cause I'm an adult and went to bed happy but exhausted.

Saturday we got up a bit slow but were still to site on time for coronation.  Andrew was there and Benton and he played all day.  [livejournal.com profile] scribe_ari and I did our coronation ritual of untangling yarn which was part of my shawl issue.  It took us the entire first court to get the cake of yarn into a ball and untangled.  It was epic.  Wolfgrim and Petrek were faboo company and we had a very lively corner of crafts and snark. The snark was mostly at us.  I got called into court and was given membership into Order of the Golden Quill for my work in Scribal stuff.  Casca and Melissa almost made me cry. I'm the sixth recipient of the award and that is pretty cool. I also have another grant of arms which brings me to 3....between me and Mel was have 6 so I guess we have an armada?

The courts were fun and the pounce of peer for Gunnar was great for his Pelican. He'd been standing dead center at the back of court and was golf clapping enthusiastically about everything. It was cool.  His Chapeau had an awesome feather hanging off the high tip of it. (ala gnome hat).

The transitional courts were great and we got told very seriously to have lunch.

During Lunch we got hamburgers and brats from the concessions outside at the resort. Mistress Gepa came up to us with a piece of unfinished business. We had made her a Pelican during our reign and she had a thank you note for us. It was so sweet.  Love that lady a lot.

Got back into court and the counties were the last of the business.  I stood with the ladies of the Rose until Ari realized I needed to carry Melissa's county. So I marched up with her entourage.  I held Casca's hand and rubbed on his back while he kneeled during the Rose talks. I have so much love for that man, I just want to snuggle him in a blanket. Seriuosly.  Melissa again made us cry and my gift to her was a hankerchief so she could always know her sisters had time for her when she needed.

Got done with court and headed out to do some cleanup of the boys stuff and chat with [livejournal.com profile] corynnemacleod one last time.  Sniff Sniff. Never did get to give Gwennie a hug.  Outside we made sure to get scroll to Brian and Lia from their reign (17 Guardians of Atenveldt on the field at Estrella, eep).  Got to enjoy a beer with Arsenda and then got to talk one of my favorite ladies off a cliff becuase a peer said something and that crushed them into a ball.  Sighs. This peer has a history of saying the wrong thing and I was a good Peer and friend and got them back on track.  Said lady's hubby thanked me for it the next day.

We got home at a reasonable time and then headed out to get dinner at Sentinel Peak with Gallant and Stacey.  Food was okay, I think they switched chef's again but the beer and company was good. Ben was squirrely but he was way over tired and way over stimmed.  He fell asleep in the car and had to get woken up.  I think I made it to 830pm and then went to bed. I was toast. It had been a long day and I was done. So tired.

Woke up Sunday way too early and then fell back asleep once everyone else was up which then further made me feel awful. I was not functioning at all well. I did manage to not forget anything, including the scroll case and my earrings and off we went.  Got to site and Ivan and could not communicate tent setup. In the end it worked out but what is funny is my approximation of where I thought the eric would be was spot on.  Lol.  Got settled, talked another person off a personal cliff. And then set about trying to have a nicer day. I was grumpy, tired and a bit more snippy with Ben than I needed to be. My patience was thin and I'm pretty sure they are going to find something with Ben's hearing on Friday. He's not catching what we are saying a lot of times.  But yeah. Not my best but I tried to stick to the tent and work on projects. I sketched out the layout for Jorge's Knighting scroll, sketched out my breast plate design for Wonder Woman and knit on my Slytherin Socks.  I got a daisy from Mistress Sabilla, a Paper Rose from Baroness Magdalen, Daisy's from Benton and a pair of earrings from HRM Elzbieta for Mother's day.

I worked as signet deputy and got names on scrolls and chatted with a few more folks including THL Jacquiline who is taking over as A&S minister.  So pleased for her and it will give her some visibility in the arts. Many people have nommed upon her food but may not know her face.

We headed back after the tourneys and it was nice to get home to dinner done. Ben fell completely exhausted asleep in the car and mel poured in onto the couch to relax and watch some Batman:TAS.  I got up to get a beer since we had brought home two filled growlers the night before.  I pulled out the Mexican Amber, filled my glass and then went to grab lime juice and the growler of IPA fell out of the fridge. I couldn't catch it and jumped back but it smashed to the floor and I cut my big toe on glass. It was a mess. I'm bleeding profusely and all I can think is "great, the ER on mother's day, my favorite" but luckily the cut just bled a lot but wasn't too deep.  After that I flounced on the couch and then went to bed early after a good dinner from the crockpot. Sighs.

So, I guess in overview the weekend was good. Sunday was just weird but I was a good peer and a lot and helped out a lot of awesome people and I guess inspired others.  So that is a win?

So, I've determined that Monday: I own you and I'm hitting things out of the park on getting updates and slogging through weird tasks.  Going to leave on time from work and the family is going to clean house. My areas will be the front room and the bathrooms and the boys will get the kitchen, the family room and bedrooms.

Just need to work as a family and get it done.

So the title is for how awesome mel was last night. He got a batch of beer on to drink for after Estrella, finished making his 4 bobbin tensioned lazy kate, plied and washed up all of the podling yarn he had spun minus about 20 yards. Very good night for him. I had to assist during the plying a few times when a strand would break and get it restarted for him. Luckily since I now know how to spin (though not great at it) I was able to grab ends, spit ply and twist them and then grab the twist to flow down the plies and catch the splice. Very cool. Though I need a good name for all of the fiber/woodworking stuff happening at the house. Oh, btw, mel did the lazy kate all by handtools and did dove tails cause "it was easier than any other option I could think of." yeah, Macguyver Laurel speaks. LOL.
pictures of the spinning apparatus and the yarn )

So, the rest of the day.

Let us just say that this was the first real day of me feeling very off and the Podling's movements have been pretty forceful and not really painful but very uncomfy. I also kept getting very distracted by the tummy movements and that also didn't feel really good on my mental state. grump. I got home from work and I had to lay down. Oof. I had fatigue waves running through me from all of the tummy motion while I was at work and I collapsed on the couch and finished watching a movie and dozed to get things to relax. I felt better but was still pretty worn out.

I got up and headed to knit night. My choice of dinner was the suck and for the second night in a row I've picked places that were having poor customer service. I should know better but oh, well. I had a kids meal sized dinner and that was all I wanted. I managed to get mel's sock to the toe decreases before I ran out of yarn. Boys need about 150 grams of sock yarn for socks. Most balls are only 50 grams. So, ya need to buy 3 balls. I don't think I've done that for any of his sock yarn except for one colorway we got at the knit retreat. We shall see. But I switched things out to longer needles to hold the stitches and will now cast on of the second sock and work that till I run out of yarn and then finish the toes. Oh, well.

I headed to the shower while mel washed the yarn. The pound of silk/merino fiber yielded about 400 yards of 4 ply yarn. Now comes the debate if its enough yarn for the hat and the sweater. I'll need to confer with the girls at the knit shop to see. I think the yarn is too thin for the jacket since its fingering weight and the jacket calls for DK or worsted. Mel has a really hard time doing those weights. So we shall see. I might have to augment it with yarn from my stash which is okay or mel will have to spin more...we shall see.

Tonight after work is my work baby shower. I hope I am not as tired as I was last night cause that will make things odd. But we have tomorrow off and a list of things to work on for the weekend so but that will be another post.

I did start book #4 for the year which is "Raven's Shadow" by Patricia Briggs.

I was in San Diego and now I am not.

The trip home was good, mel had fun driving us crazy fast and I crocheted on the baby blanket. We did manage to catch a glimpse of the Plank Road to Yuma on the dune on the way home. We got to see an exhibit on it at the San Diego Auto Museum. Yuma still is a time suck to find things like gas stations and food but we managed without a flat tire this time. Then it was on home with a brief stop in Gila Bend for tea and potties.

Got home and napped with the girls a bit. They were happy to have us home though still a but grump to one another. Had a nice evening at scribble and then home to sleep.

I had a doc appointment yesterday for a small procedure which was not fully told to me in depth. I wasn't happy about that, especially after the anesthetic was administered. Its done and we shall see what happens but I don't want to ever do that again. End of discussion.

I treated myself to mocha on the way into work and then worked till about 3pm. I did manage to score really nummy greek lunch for free and that made the day much better. I headed off for some errands and then to Nimbus to celebrate Richard's B-day. Family came back to our house after that and it was project time and chatting...all good. I'm on the second to last row of edging and I have one part that is...off. But I don't think people will notice. Its for a baby and they will like it.

Today is better and I'm not so sore but I'm still taking it easy. I got my normal flu shot yesterday and need to make some phone calls to see if I can get my H1N1 this week too. Looking forward to the weekend but we shall see if I can get through all of my work...lots to do. I might not be getting friday off we shall see.

Well we saw 6 museums today: The Mingei International Crafts, The Museum of Man, The Air and Space, The San Diego History, The Model Railroad Museum which was uber awesome, the Automobile Museum. Quite the busy day even for Museum Rats like us. The thing is ... The museums are small but very nicely presented. We've Been spoiled by the Smithsonian and Pima Air and Space. If u go to San Diego get the $65 pass it's worth it

So we are now at Karl Strauss. And the sampler as seen below:

Shows lots of beers but nothing darker than an Oktoberfest. Good Ipa's though. We relived our dinner from our wedding night of burgers and beer. Nom. nom. All good. Course they do have a heffeizen and a Belgian we both like. Which is impressive since I hate both styles.

yup, I am now officially on vacation and I'm not done packing...well, I've been packing the ipod with podcasts and of course I've been waiting for the software update...but I should be getting to the actual packing pretty quick here...not that there is much, camera stuff, crafty stuff, maps and snacks. All good.

Oh, and for dinner tomorrow we are going to Stone Brewery...tee hee.

Just got back from the new Nimbus Bistro Pub with [livejournal.com profile] duchess_asa. Food was good. Portions were a bit small. Beer was good but the wait staff didn't know the beer that well. And they don't have the nitro for the stout that I like.

It was very bust due to the U of A game. But we sat in a side room near the brew room that wasn't as loud. The had view screens all over for the game which was nice for Holly the sports fan.

All in all not too bad.

Well having the taste test if my fav porters. St Brigid's Porter by the Great Divide in Denver has been a fav since college and it's been my standard ever since. Then after moving out here I got to try Sante Fe Porter from the Sante Fe Brewing Co has been in heavy rotation whenever Bevmo has it in stock. Now after tasting them side by side, beero e beero I can't make up my mind. I guess I shall drink more and see.

Just tried Ziegenbock Amber from Budwieser. Seems they are doing regional beers now and thus one was like a much more flavorful shiner bock. Went nummy with my salad. Looks like I won't go into work since mel can leave work earlier. Need to call the boss and update him. But I think that should be fine understanding the circumstances.

Having the argus imperial India brown ale. 8.6%abc. From the beer menu:
Namedfor the brewmasters dog, this mahogany colored ale is full of flavor with chocolate, roasted and nutty malt flavor balanced by strong citrus piney hop flavors

My take a very nummy brown with a good flow of hops and sweetness. I could down this stuff wihout much thought. Thank goodness they only serve I in 10oz glasses. Stoopid liquor lawsbb
417 Maibock. 7.5%abc. Gordon Biersch could only hope to have a marzen this good. Wow. Very tasty. Lee got this one and wow.

Third Eye Imperial Stout good coffee. Light airy hops and velry nummy. Again, the brewmaster hides the strength of the alcohol with good balanced flavors. Wow. And that is the end of the beer review for the evening.

erik the red. Very good lawn mower red ale. Just slight sweet diecetly taste on the end but very nice. Good improvement on the standard red ale and very good for summer with the citrus notes.

well the food was fantastic. I started my drinking with the Oktoberfest
which was sweet and sassy. Similar in profile to the Gordon birsch
marzen but smoother and much more complex in flavor. The I tried
The ups which was very sweet, hoppy and balanced. The owner himself
Came out and chatted with us. He was knowledgeable and was happy
to have some beer enthusiasts at his establishment. He suggested that
we go to the tapeoom after dinner and we were quite pleased with
the "hop harvest". Which was an ups that they picked the hope up in hodgkiss
And then brewed it within 24 hours. Ing. Such a balanced floral flavor
aroma and wonderful caramel malt. The finish was even more of the floral
without the bitterness that you usually taste with IPA's.

Then I got swag of cool stickers that say nice jugs. Snerk.
All good

So, my flight was good minus my left ear (the non stuffy one) not wanting to pop the entire flight. Sighs. I had a nice dinner at macaroni grill before the flight and I was happy with the delightful company of a texas engineer next to me and that I was able to speak Italian with our waiter. After that I tooled around the airport window shopping and then flew home.

We landed about 30 minutes early which means I was in the door a bit before 10pm. Mel was still up but reading and I got to chat with him before a shower and bed. I had 30 pages left in my novel so I finished that an drifted off to sleep quite quickly. I have a doc appointment today at 140 so its gonna be a short day. I think I will need a nap after that since yesterday was a 12.5 hour day.

Here is my review of the beer:

At rock bottom In Lombardi
Having night sky imperial red ale abv 7.0%
Smokey flavor chocolaty head not clear good hop flavor probably cascade
Description by brewery
"deep ruby red In color, this beer has toasted caramel and spicy rye malt character with a bold Piney hop balance. t the rich flavor and full body make this the perfect compliment to steak or burger"
Brewmaster is a fan of Ipa and belgians the menu its full of them. Timothy Marshall head brewer jared rouben asst brewer.
