Not dead...seriously, tried to write multiple times but here is the quick recaps.

After coronation I had a day of work and then it was the fraught with annoyance trip to NOLA. Seriously, they kept moving our flight back and we sat and drank margaritas for hours and then were late in Denver and then we got in at like 300am to the hotel. It was dumb but okay. Traveling with Ari was nice and the airplanes weren't too full. The NOLA trip was full of sites, sights, food, booze and fun. Seriously, we had such a nice time. I really didn't want to leave.

All pictures are here:

Got back from NOLA and work has been nuts. We have startup funding for our pending contract, I have classes to finish before they switch requirements for a certification I want. We cracked the whip on lots of things and finally got to the week of Thanksgiving and that Monday Benton's class got sent home. They had 3 positive cases of Covid and then the school decided that the three days after break were also virtual. Tuesday I started to get the worst headache I've had in a while. It progressed and mel had been feeling crappy too. Well, we both had the flu over the holiday and into the next week. It sucked for the holiday but we had a few pies, we had green bean casserole and sausage stuffing and cranberry sauce. mel got the turkey on and nice rolls as well. Tasty and good. But sucky that we were sick and Benton was taking the brunt our grumpy. We are still feeling crappy. Yes, we did get COVID tested and area all negative on the rapid. Still waiting on the PCR results. While the 3 days of virtual happened the school had more positive cases and they have now moved to full virtual to christmas break. So a lot not what we planned for teh last two weeks or what we had planned coming up with now having Benton home 24-7. Sighs.

Its disappointing but at least Benton has been well this whole time. He had a bit of a sniffle but nothing bad and he gets his second shot on Sunday for the Covid Vaccine. Once mel and I are feeling better we will get out flu shots and boosters.

Project wise I've stagnated. I have one shawl on the needles and its at a broken stage. I have a hat on the needles and its slow and I have a toy on the hook that I need to get back to but it was hard on my hands. I've been reading a lot which I guess is good.

I finished #19 Blood lines and then I read The Pricess Diarist which Danabren had gotten me a few years ago. It was not what I expected it to be...it was okay but odd. Now I'm reading #20 Night Season by Eileen Wilkes. I did get a few books while in NOLA so they have been added to the TBR pile.

This weekend I need to finish a program management course to finish that cert. I need to wrap and pack stuff for shipping to family and start to get xmas up and going. Sighs. I don't think i have the energy for that but we need to do it. Gonna ask Benton for all the help I can. he loves to decvorate for holidays But I may do the lights a bit lighter this year on the house. We shall see. I'm just so tired.

The weekend was nice...Friday was so long...OMG.. Work was so much work but I managed to knock everything off of my to-do list for work by 330pm on Friday.  I haven't done that in a really long time. It felt so good. Then I sat and played Stardew Valley for a few hours until dinner time.  I made my chicken dish and mel made mashed potatoes and green beans. The only change was I went 80s hot dish and added crushed up Ruffles versus bread crumbs. It made a neat texture change and was tasty.

I was asleep by 1030pm I was so tired and I had had a couple of margaritas before dinner.  So tired.  Saturday I was up early for the Atlantian University. It was good. I learned a few things and in the off ours I got the text penciled in on the porch project and more work done on my crochet shawl. I took a class on 14th Century hoods which had a stats slant to the types in manuscripts, a wonderful class on women Printers in the 15oos, an okay class on beads that lacked documentation completely and a class on the "squashed bug" style of painting in 15th and beyond manuscripts.  That class was neat.  After that I played some more video games and then went to my room with my ipad and shawl while the boys played Halo.  It was nice to sit and relax and finish my shawl while watching YT.

Sunday we all slept in and I thought I had calculated time changes correctly but missed my first class of the day.  I then went to my SIL class on dyes from your Kitchen and then took a class on making early period fibula.  The biggest thing to learn on that one was anneal, anneal, anneal which I knew but it was nice to see it step by step.  Then I played video games again and after that I got going on moving the porch project back to the porch and got some more progress on it before the mosquitos ate me alive through my DEET bug spray.  Ugh.  But I made progress on that project and the end is nearing. YAY! I also managed to get the shawls washed and blocked and my hat I made in July washed and laid out.  The studio was full of wet wool/silk and Eucalan smells and cat who wanted to lay upon the big flat surfaces covered in the wet projects.  le sigh. But its all dry enough today to hang on the shower curtain rod for final drying.  Except the hat...its thick but that is okay.

Mel and I after dinner continued on our dive through Clone Wars. We hit season 3 Episodes with the Force overlords and the battle there.  Wow, if we had known any of what those 3 episodes were about the last movie would have made way more sense.  I realize now I'm going to have to watch the crapiness of Episodes 1 thru 3 after we finish this series just to get the whole picture.  We own them on DVD cause I wanted the original series with the updates for visuals but not all of the crap lucas shoved in for the special editions.  So yay!.

On the book front I easily finished #16 When Sorrows Come and don't know why the novella at the end wasn't just part of the book but its all good. Toby finally got Married!

I'm now re-reading #17 of the year Mortal Danger by Eileen Wilkes.  I read this book a long while ago and can't remember much of it.  But I have the next 3 on loan from Mughi so I want to finish them up.  Its a neat world and a very neat take on magic.

So all in all a good weekend.  Very happy with that and I even managed to tear back on my Cloudlift Shawl that I messed up but I think I may have to rip the whole thing back to the cast on. Things are weird on it.  I will look at that later in the week.
ianuk: (caw!)
This is the first full 5 day work week I've had in a while.....due to taking time off for labor day weekend, work days off for our 9/80 so this week is 5 days and very full. My calendar for work is very full of meetings.  Oof. So many meetings....and not the kind I can just hang on and watch...I have to actively run and participate.  Darn it.

Monday was crazy.  Mel was at work cleaning out his desk and I had the house to myself which was weird.  The cats were weird and didn't want to spend time with me.  But that was okay. I did have to do 3 runs to school. 1 morning drop off, 2 Benton didn't take his meds and 3 pick him up for his orthodontist appointment. Luckily his appliance came in and they installed it.  www.bordentownbraces.com/teeth/teeth-expanders/  See the link for what it is...he has his for longer (about 4 months) but that is okay.  We have to expand it for 14 days and then they check it and see if we need more.

So lots of driving and only 7.5 hours of work for the day even though I worked late...lol.  I headed to the gym and OMG Keith is making things so hard. But I managed and didn't suck too much.  Then it was home to move the porch project into the studio for a bit so I can have light and no mosquitos.  I got a few words on it for spacing but was too tuckered out and just clearned up the studio and chatted with the girls for a while before just sitting down and reading.  I started the 16th book of the year which is "When Sorrows Come" by Seanan McGuire.  Its sooooo good.

I've been trying to not stay up too late reading.

I have not been good about my to do list...I need to check some easy things off (cat box and towels put away) but Tuesday I was so tired I jsut watched TV (binging through Scooby Doo Mysteries Incorporated) and tried to go to bed on time.

Tonight is strength club and me doing those things on my list I've been avoiding.  I can do it...That means clean slate for Thursday.  All good.

ianuk: (baroness)
I had a 3 day work week followed by a 3 day weekend....so that was nice.  Friday I managed to finally slay the laundry hydra and put everything away! We also pre-packed for the event on Saturday and since it was just us for heads of house going we had a bit to pack.  With changes with Parks and rec we had to do Pop-up palooza to get things set and well, we tried to not look like ass.  I had a wonderful 1.5 hour massage and had managed to do strength club and HIIT this week for 2 days.  Saturday we got up early and got things going. Benton was an absolute PITA while we were packing up. We had to keep kicking him out of places we needed to be.  I think he was sad he wasn't going but he was going to hang with Skyler and play in the pool. Honestly , he had more fun and was cooler.

So I mixed up 2 gallons of margaritas, two 5 gallon coolers of icewater for our crewe.  It was about 103-104 without any breeze..Ugh. But it is what it is and we had an event. We got to see lovely people get awards, I did not craft...I was too hot to think of yarn.  I only took a few photos...it was just too hot.  I spoke for Sam with Ivan as Laurel.  Her Pelican ceremony was nice and funny and not too long.  Me and Mingo and Mel were at the back and some of the last to speak...it was fun.  Count Thomas became a Lamp of Ysgithr and Sir Wolgrim was made premier of the Baron's Tusk (baron's thank you). So good day for Hrafnheim...but once court was done everyone started packing up and we were off site by 2ish.  Got home and unloaded.  I peeled down to my shift since it was so hot and I was covered....all good.  Got showers and hung out with Wander and Jackie for the rest of the afternoon.  We got wings from Wings over Broadway (place next to my gym) and had a really nice night.  I went to bed at 945pm I was done.  I slept for over 10 hours.

Sunday we got up and had coffee and then got a few things off the house to do list.  We had bought new wall sconces and the outdoor light.  And like any home improvement process I ended up having to mod one of the brackets.  Now if I'd been smart I'd have gone out to the shop and used the Foredom but I forgot we had it.  So I used a hand crank drill and a metal file.  It worked just took me a bit.  The porch light was hot wired so it can't be turned off...which honestly, isn't a big deal just caught us by surprise.  The old light had a sensor for on and off so we think our former friend who did that work just hot wired it so we could control the carport lights separately.  Its an LED and barely uses any power so I'm not concerned with it being on all of the time.  With that done we got the mess of boxes and styrofoam cleared out of the front room, I brushed cats cause OHBOY did they need that and then I decluttered the entire front room minus Mel's desk area.  I then figured out our unused folding dinning chairs can fit two inside the closed gateleg table and the other three got put under the piano since I cleaned that all out.  Mel took the work monitor we didn't use back to work today and that freed up a bunch of space.  Then I vacuumed and straightened up and reframed our Thegn and Bannethegn scroll.  So on the 29th when Elena comes to clean she can do the dusting and deep cleaning work.  YAY!

I was tired after that and we had dinner and then I tackled my craft crap that had accumulated by the side of the couch. I got it all yarn put where it needed to go. only have the active projects in my basket and moved a tote to my studio.  I found once ball of yarn the moths got to and they had shredded it.  So Its okay. I made the hat with that yarn and that was the leftovers and an okay sacrifice.  After I got that all settled I sat down to crochet on my shawl while mel wove and we are now 3/4 of the way through season 3 of clone wars.  Our goal is to get that finished up here in the next few weeks. I also finished the 15th book of 2021 which was Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilkes. I had read this and the next one before now but I'm rereading them so I can read the next 3 in the series....but tomorrow the latest October Daye book hits my Kindle App so we shall see what I start reading tonight.

I have the scroll commission for the knight scrolll to finish and I hope it cools down enough for me to work on that soon. I hope to do that a bit this weekend but I may drag it indoors  to add the text in sharpie first before I go back to carving.  Its Runes so not difficult except yanno, carving it.  But that is the last thing to do.  I think I will bring it in tonight so I can get the text on and then get carving slowly over the weekend.  I really want it done before coronation.  It was super nice to have the house looking good.  It makes the brain weasels happy.

Well back to the slog.
ianuk: (Default)
Not a bad weekend but not as productive as I would have liked. The seekrit project is moving at a snails pace.  I have to futz with things and measure and futz things and measure and make sure things align all of the time and gods...its a lot of brain power. But when you realize late in the week that you are again dealing with an ear infection, this time the left side, its just hard.  I managed to use up the brain power on my paying job and then...well, I got sucked down a rabbit hole of reading after I was soul sucked and finished #12 of the year of Gideon the Ninth.  Then I went back to the Laundry files which I had stopped reading for some reason, probably it hitting too close to crap on the whole pandemic, now its just sad and I deal after 18 months of this crap....so I devoured book 13# which was the Delirium Brief and am no ensconced in book #14 which is The Labyrinth Index (Laundry Files #9).  People have bitched that we don't get enough of Bob and Mo in the later books but I really like the POV switch and the characters are growing on me.  So, I adapt, others should as well.

So, with the ear my gym life has meant not bouncing around in HIIT.  That is okay.  I will hit strength and try to get a few walks in.  The boy wants to go for longer bike rides and I can handle a low impact walk even with the left side of my head numb.  The temps are supposed to be back over 100 again and that is okay.  The humidity has gone down which means the coolers are at a better efficiency and that makes the house feel better.

So today is a bit slow but I have lots of check in tasks since last week was STATUS ALL OF THE THINGS week.  Our negotiations team is still in DC and still working so supporting them remotely as well with strange out of context questions.  So I have an okay week planned. I have take care of my own ear since its a skin infection...gonna do topical antibiotics for a few days to see how that goes.  If it doesn't go well then I will call my doc and ask for a scrip.  But I have a plan. I don't have extra kid/cat duties this week and that is okay.  I can just be me and my normal + seekrit project self.
ianuk: (wtf)
Tuesday night was super nice, I got sewing done, some crochet done and got video game time.  Seriously, what a nice evening....so when I went to bed and finished up book #11 of 2021 which was Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett.  I then started Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir. Its scifi with necromancy...so Warhammer 40k?  Lol. its been interesting and they just throw you in the deep end to start...very much like Glenn Cook in The Black Company...speaking of, I really need to do a re-read of that series...its been a while.

So I'm reading and a storm starts blowing in...and I do mean blowing. Lots of wind, wind chimes going crazy, heavy ass rain, lightening striking the wash and thunder so loud.  Usually I have no problem with this but my skin was itchy and I couldn't get comfortable.  I got up at midnithgt to get benedryl and the cats were hiding in the linen closet.  They don't normally freak so that was new.  I then just stayed away listening to the storm and mel snoring and trying not to scratch non-existent hives. Its so annoying but I fell asleep after 2am.

The next morning was rough and Tasha was a scaredy cat and hid in Benton's closet all day.  It took us forever to find her..she didn't' even want to come out for treats. We all gave her love and snuggles and treats and she was on her front room perch at night but this AM  she's been hiding behind the back couch in the family room.  We have more storms coming and I'm not sure what to do.  Our Baroness stopped by last night to work on a project but we just ended up kibitzing which was just fine.  And she suggested that I give her some benadryl or dramamine to help her calm down. I'm not sure what dosage and will call the vet.  I'm up for helping her out and making sure she's loved... if she was a snuggle kitty it would be nice but she's very aloof in general.

Even with a bad night of sleep and not hitting the gym cause I did not feel safe enough to drive, lift and drive back when so tired I had a nice night.  Being a sounding board for our Baroness and chit chatting on various topics is good.  I kinda needed a night like that.  But tonight its back to the sewing grind.  Gotta do some fancy cutting to make the most of trim things but all good.

Also, a big shout out to SilkBaron.com....their customer service is fabulous and really nice.  I called and left a message since its had been 5 business days and no shipping confirmation. I realized looking at past reciepts that this swatch order didn't have shipping marked and figured I did something wrong.  Got a ring back from Andrew and they have just been swamped with orders and mine was actually next in the swatch cuts so all good.  I said cool no issue. They got me my tracking number before they closed last night.

So brain is tired but I'm feeling better after drugging out myself to sleep last night though my REM and deep sleep get jacked by that but I slept and that was the important part.  I will workout and work on projects tonight and tomorrow is the day off and moving day for Linnet.  And then a weekend of sewing and kibitzing with my apprentice and Baroness.

ianuk: (Default)
Well, yes, yes I do.  I'm consistently the "strongest" girl but not the fittest.  If that makes sense.  Krista has been working hard and can do so many chin ups...when I can't even pull myself up.  But its not about other people its really about me but it gives a very interesting idea about what people are capable of. I missed last week for the one rep max for squats but I had been doing 155lbs for sets.  I managed to get 155 almost fully myself for a 1RM for bench.  I was tired and didn't have my snack before hand. So I'm probably at 150 with my own power.   Which aint bad honestly.  I want to get to 200 there or so.  Honestly, 225 for squats and bench would be faboo.  Cause you should be able to do that for yourself (i.e. lift your own damn weight).

I'm sore today and even that is okay.

Talked with my trainer on my diet and macro settings.  And I just need to fucking follow them. So its back to tracking my food religiously....which sucks but it is what I need to do.  Plus it will show my doc some things as well.' 6 weeks of tracking is good and we are going to do measurements on Saturday so I can see where I'm actually at for fat versus what my scale incorrectly tells me.  The weight is part of things I want to loose. I would feel much better in my knees and feet at 20 pounds lighter. But honestly my goal is strength and smaller size.  Weight loss would be a nice bonus but its not the goal fully.

I'm still reading Shattered by Kevin Hearn (#10).  Its now getting good.

ianuk: (baroness)
The weekend was nice. I knit and played video games. I finished Graveyard Keeper...well, finished is a weird word...but I finished the main phase of play. I can continue to do things and I might but its done. So I started Stardew Valley and fell off a cliff of a fun game.  Sighs.  But I made different choices than for mel's game so my setup is completely different.  The game controls are not the same as Graveyard keeper and that keeps nerfing me but that is okay. Its a fun game and I'm enjoying it.

I have made progress on shawl and we've now gotten solidly into Season 2 of Clone Wars.  I'm really enjoying it.  It really builds the story about what happened.  I really hated Episodes 1 thru 3...so stilted and awful.  This is so much better.  Also, I now have a cosplay I want to do of Luminara Unduli...cause she's awesome.

I did spend time with Jackie crafting on Saturday and that was nice.  But with Skylar over and Benton being spastic I was not up for kids and pool stuff on Sunday.  Ugh. We need to plan things with the kids a bit more in advance than hours. Ugh.  I just can't right now with spontaneity.  Or maybe I was completely peopled out which is why I vegged on the couch and played video games for the entire day.

I did get my bingo card for the Steve Rogers Bingo Fanfic event.  Have until December 21st to write at least 5 fics...which is a good goal. I'm going to print out my card and then put it into a physical journal so I can doodle my way through some ideas.  I didn't go for the smutty prompts so they are all fun things and I will have fun even if its just 100 word drabbles.  Its a challenge to myself.

I did finish Highland Treasure (book #9 of the year) which was delightful and quaint.  It had a lot of the tropes...one bed, fake marriage etc.  I have now started Shattered by Kevin Hearne (book #10 of the year).

ianuk: (batman)
So I'm tired from my weekend cause it was peoply and that was good!

The week was long with work things and the fact I went back to weight lifting and managed two weight lifting sessions and a Hiit session. By Friday I was tired and sore and oof. I did not over lift even though I could physically do more weight but I knew I would have more problems than I did. Did I have a few days of it was hard to pull on my pants or sit down? Yes, was it worth it? Yes.

Friday I had fasting blood work and I was starving by the time my appointment was. I ended up getting burritos and getting things settled at home, read some and then moved on to runnign errands for a few hours. Got back and played video games until it was time for me to cook family dinner. Cause we had dinner with Ari and Linnet and Mason planned cause everyone is fully vaccinated but Benton and Mason. It was a long time coming but it was good. I made steak, sweet potatoes and green beans. It was tasty. There was booze and chatting and Benton getting sent to bed early since he threw a cat at Mason but gods it was great to sit and chat and just hang out with family. So good.

Saturday I slept in with coffee in bed. I was tired already and that was okay. I got up and played video games until Jessie and Kevin arrived for a visit. Skylar was over for a while with Benton and they were bored cause the adults weren't paying attention to them but it was okay. Had dinner with Jessie and Kevin and then it was just a nice night.

Sunday was Mother's day and all I asked for was breakfast in bed which I got. I was tired from all of the social interaction and slept way in and didnt' really get out of bed until noon. But I got dressed, ran two errands and then played some video games before cooking a tasty shrimp and grits dinner. Mel and I have been going through clone wars. We realized last night that we had watched most of the first season. Its been good to get caught back up and we have a few seasons to go but its nice to binge a 4-5 episodes in a night.

I finished "Will my Cat Eat my Eyeballs" (#7 for the year) and it was delightful. Not very indepth but I guess its more a young adult/kids primer for it. So I will let Benton read it. I think he will get a kick out of it.

Now I'm in "The Burning Maze" (#8 of the year) which is the third book in the Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan. Next is a cheezy romance Ari got my for Valentines. I actually put my books in a stack to just pull the next one on the stack. So that is helpful and intimidating for things. Lol. But I'm committed to getting through that stack so I can then pull a few more things off the bedroom shelf and read.
ianuk: (don't wanna)
So my huge cleaning binge and the wonderful spring we are having did not help me at all....allergies have kicked my ass...asthma has flared...I'm so tired but getting insomnia. Voice goes in and out. Bleah. So what have I done this week?

I've finished a book #5, Hunted by Kevin Hearne, for the year and then finished the novella at the back for #6 which is Two Ravens and One Crow also by Hearne. For my 7th book I'm going with "Will my cat eat my eyeballs" but the ever wonderful Caitlin Doughty, AKA from "Ask the Mortician" on YT. She is wonderful and I love her channel and the book looks fun. I've been kinda sleeping better with a real book versus electronic so that is good but I have a lot of ebooks as well. Need to figure that out.

I worked on two scrolls on Monday one of which I had done the calligraphy the previous Monday. Painting was soothing and we had a nice group on zoom. But past Monday I was zonked.

I fixed a few things in my game (reloaded the DLC) and figured out where I had gone wrong on a quest. But this game is not easy and every side quest (its a game full of them) leads to more things you need to do. Like wow. Seriously. Wow. But I'm hyper focused on it when I feel like crap so I guess that is okay. I did tell mel I'm sorry I'm playing so much but he understands and even he commented this is an intriguing game. Tonight though I'm going to knit and watch a movie.

So lazy weird week with lots of work brain drain. I'm very happy that Ari was able to 1) pick benton up two nights from martial arts for home delivery and 2)able to see her and Linnet and hand over some stuff. I'm also happy that Willa has been spending the week making glass at the studio with the pros and learning lots. Plus she did her first glass blowing and she gave me her first piece. Seriously, the first piece. Its heavy and beautiful and it fits my hand perfectly. I can't wait to make a cocktail in it. We sat and chatted glass and cars and had a beer together last night which was wonderful. We haven't had that in a year and a bit. A bit of normalcy returning though its still awful out there.

There gets to the point that my house gets weird and I can't stand it. I used to just send Benton and Mel off somewhere and clean and clean and clean and then it would be fine. But with the pandemic I only had Mel out of the house since he was volunteering at the POD. But I made a list and I stuck to that list for two days of work on the house. I did get some video games and some knitting in so I it wasn't all work and no play.

But my house is not an embarrassment to me. Others may have had different opinions. But our bathroom is clean. I double washed the shower curtain, replaced the liner and used Mold Armor which stinks to high heaven but it works. There is still some staining from dirt etc but maybe in a few weeks I will try the Dawn/vinegar trick that [personal profile] danabren posted about. But its clean and I'm happy. I made Benton help with the floors which I still need to mop but its way better. The amount of cat hair in the carpet...wow. We vacuumed two weeks ago. But everyone got fresh linens in their beds, I refreshed pillows and just need to do a bit of vacuuming in our bedroom but mel needs to put his clothes away. I also finished up with jewelry making stuff, put that away and moth balled the stash. We had a sudden emergence in the living room of moths and we tracked it down to my birthday gift from the apprentice. oops. So its in the freezer and will be put into he trunk of the car for a few days at the end of the week. We've also noticed that the cat fur really attracts them too. So I think we are good now and everything has been mothballed for this quarter. They naturally occur in AZ so they are a major pest. Grump.

Its a good thing the house is cleaned. We have a termite inspection today so the guys will be searching in the nooks and crannies. Wooho! but the house does feel happier...whether that is all in my head or not its a settling feeling. Mel does enough cooking and baking that things are good but the bedrooms and family rooms have been a bit weird to me. So now things are brighter. which is good.

Been trying to get back into reading a book before bed. The electronic reading just doesn't make me sleepy enough and that is a problem. I've been up much too late reading fic. Its all been good but need to fix it and get going on reading...so I'm still reading #5 of the year which is Trapped by Kevin Hearne. I'm almost done with that and then I will work on my TBR pile on my end table. I have a lot to read. :)

So I'm happier and I've been playing a video game on xbox called Graveyard Keeper...its like StarDew valley but goth. Its been fun and I've been sinking a few hours into it every few days. Its my treat for working hard. So all good.

Here is a pic of the last necklace I made which is all from beads given to me while I was queen and my own green beads from really long ago. Its huge and very SCA.

ianuk: (happy)
Last week was long and short in different ways.   I had a huge allergy driven migraine Thursday and Friday and finally recovered a bit on Saturday to spend time working on Wolgrim's scroll and having a socially distanced afternoon with Ari on the porch.  I also made it out to the park for socially distance seeing TRM to pick up the scrolls for Ivan and I getting our Gratis Coronae.  It was so good to see them and other household members who were also there to get their scrolls and medallions.  I spent Saturday and Sunday afternoons working on the scroll for Wolfgrim and its coming along.  Its physically exhausting to work on but its good work and looking pretty good. I hope to get to the text this weekend.

Saturday night we also had surprise visitors of 4 your dogs in our yard.  Our neighbors took them in while they figured out who they belonged to and they were reunited later that night with their family.  Though I saw on Twitter that they escaped again.  Super cuter and sweet pups though but I hope the owners get them collars with address and phone numbers.

I also had my performance review last week and that went well. I got a good 3.9% raise and a 4% performance share/ bonus.  That bonus hit the check this week...oof.  I'm socking that away for a rainy day.  I had signed up to volunteer with the POD for vaccine at the U of A. I did my first shift last night and surprise surprise they had 100 vaccines for volunteers last night and I got my first shot on my first shift!  Holy cow!  My next shot is scheduled and ready for me.  Wow!  I'm humbled.  You sign up for the vaccine when you go to your first shift and they put you on the list. They are supposed to track for you to have done at least 36 hours of volunteer work.  I've signed up for lots more shifts so its neat.  Ive been running traffic just like I do at Estrella Main gate.  I was complimented on being heard when I yelled across the quad to signal a lane was opening for cars.  Yah, I gots a bit of experience in that.

It was also cool that Paul from the dojo, Willa and Dom all got our first shots last night as well as my friend Caitlin from work.  Woot!  I will get to hug people soon!

Now to get the hubby on to volunteer. Its fun and easy and you get to see folks smile and congratulate them on getting there shot.  They feed us and water us too on shift.  Well not me cause the only water is Dasani and I don't trust food unless I see an ingredients list but its all good for those that don't have food allergies.

On the book front I finished #3 for the year Trapped by Kevin Hearne and finished #4 The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan and started #5 Hunted by Kevin Hearne

Wow!

I got an email yesterday stating my prize for the Queen of Doom's A&S challenge was a gift cert to Barnes and Noble.  Cool!  Today I get the egift card and its $225 worth!  Like whoa! I will have to see what historical books that have that I have been coveting. Cause that is a lot of moolah to spend.  i did respond with a big THANK YOU! cause it was a sponsored prize by the royal peers of that kingdom. Wow!

In other news i went to the gym last night and did not die.  The ankle was not happy with somethings so I wasn't bouncy but the parts that I didn't realize I used my foot for, anything in a plank position, were super tough. So I modified what I could. Still burned 451 calories so that was good and I sweated and felt good. Got home and iced it and I need to do some PT on it today so I think what I did was good and it wasn't over worked.  Which was the whole plan.  I'm very glad i did not attempt the gym last week cause it really would not have worked.

I did get to deliver a gift to Sam yesterday after my Kickstarted from Evergreen Burrow finally arrived (customs sucks in covid ya'll).  It was a full set of rubber ducky dice, in their own bathtub and some other ducky fun things including a D&D adventure.  I got the same set for Mel as well since it was hilarious and the dice are really, really well made.  Gallant and Kara also got her a set but not the full fun stuff like I did but the duckening is still happening and that is hilarious.

So its been an okay week thus far and I'm good with that. I've changed my bedtime routine a bit and that I think is helping as well. I'm back to paper books for reading since its harder for me to read at that contrast versus on a phone/tablet where I can reverse the colors and read super fast and then not realize what time it is.

I'm currently reading book #3 for the year which is Trapped by Kevin Hearne
