Friday I worked the POD and had a good time since it was Poe and I. It wasn't as warm as Easter Sunday where I got a very nasty sunburn on my shin.  Its still healing btw.  But it was nice and there was a breeze and it was great working with someone I really know.  I got a shower when I got home and relaxed in one of my new dresses from Target.  Saturday I had to get up early and get SCA dressed for me teaching at 8am. Ugh time zones.  Seriously...ugh. but I taught my beads of the North class and then I taught my top 10 books class.  It was nice and then I took classes on:
tidal water wheels in period
how to travel upon snow and ice the period way
a beginner's class on rectangular construction (yes I know this info but I wanted to see how someone would teach this and it was cool)
Making beads from birka and Ribe which I've taken at another collegium but that was cool to see if again as she's making beads in real time
Norse clothing and the lack of evidence in grave finds by my former BFF Cecilia

I then made a nice over baked porch chops dinner and relaxed with Benton while mel finished his shift at the POD.  He got his second vaccine which didn't really hit him until the next day.

It was a nice day though.  I knit and chatted with my SIL on text while we were in some of the same classes and got to chat with Cecilia on text as well catching up on things and chatting about the Pskov grave find.  It was a nice night.  We all went to bed early-ish and that was good.  I got up on Sunday and got coffee on a shake in me and then made sure Mel was taken care of...he was feeling fine but tired.  I gave blood, picked up breakfast burritos and then back to teh house.  Mel was still tired and I could see he was loosing steam, he napped off and on all afternoon in between video games and baking bread. He slept through time to put the roast on for dinner but it made great leftovers for Monday.

Benton and I made necklaces since all of my bead stuff was out.  He looked at all of what I had and chose things he liked and played with the patterns and then he strung it up. The only thing I did was put the clasps on since that is fiddly and I use professional grade crimp stuff.   I made 1 period-ish necklace and then 2 modern ones and then laid out 2 more for myself to finish up on monday.  Which I did along with working on the scroll commission for about 20 mins. My motor control for that skill set was a bit weak though so I didn't get too far but far enough.

so I've been crafty and that has been super nice.  I'm glad to be back in a groove for a while.  Been trying to eat better, drink less booze, drink more water and just go to bed when tired.

Work was actually rather busy yesterday. Got quite a bit done and the afternoon flew by with 3 back to back meetings. I headed out to the Best Bead Show. Lots less vendors this year and two of my favorites weren't in attendance. But I did get some cool beads from Robin Foster. Very cool lady! I also got some tools at arrowsprings and then chatted with Chuck (Master Tarik) and got some of his last gotland lens beads. He's getting out of the bead business to pursue other avenues...he's very relaxed about it and I think it will be good for him. I'm sad we won't be seeing him as much but I'm sure when we do it will be fun.

Got home rather later than I expected. Mel was just finishing up kegging beer (2 for the lands and 3 for us) which by ratio is (76 people for 2 kegs versus 6 people for 3 kegs)...hmmm. I went and got viva for dinner and then the household arrived to go over things for the war. Got that hammered out and during it Gaukler and Kate arrived. They had been on the road since monday and were happy to be not moving and have showers. Got done with the meeting and then we looked at gaukler's pictures while I think mel worked in the shop. I should have been pulling things out to pack but I didn't. I'll hit it hard after a few errands tonight. Looking forward to hitting the closed shows tomorrow with Gaukler and Kate. Should be a good night and a good day tomorrow. Things are falling into place.

Well, I actually got to make beads but later in the day. My studio took all of 15 mins to finish prepping, then I dipped rods and so I read until meg picked me up for lunch. We ended up at Chili's which was good. Cora was being a bit fussy but oh so cute! We then traipsed over to Barnes and Noble with cora in her new sling and she immediately fell asleep. I picked up Small Favors by Jim Butcher, Undead and Uneasy by Mary Janice Davidson and Altogether Dead from Charlene Harris. Then we went to Target to pick up a few things. I'm looking for a wall charger for my touch but didn't like the one they had...but we had a good time shopping. Then it was home. Frodi was over researching, Thyra was playing with an air compressor and the boys were either cleaning up the shop or working on medieval tool benches. I got my kiln turned on and then sat reading until it alarmed that it was to temperature. I made beads for about an hour...which was about 25 beads. I have no stamina right now and my table is too high which is easily dealt with once I move mel's second spinning wheel around. Frodi watched for a while. I finished up and then was a bad girl and started reading Small Favors. Yeah, got sucked in after the first few pages and had to put it down at bed time. Wow, is all I can say. A bit more action while we're trying to figure out things but good none the less. Right now things are at an interesting point. I'll have to restrain myself when I get home...course I think I'll just turn the kiln on and then read until its ready.

Not sure what work has in store today...I didn't write up my to-do list for this week. oops. Guess I'll just have to wing it.

So, the work issue wasn't just me. The other REA and our SPE were also confused by our suppliers 1)responses and 2) lack of commitment to our paperwork. So, I review the darn document and then we discussed and came to the conclusions that the doc wasn't what needed the waiver..its the hardware defects. Which have not been provided to us. We clued in our buyer and are now in a holding pattern which has nothing to do with me going on vacation...which is what it looked like 2 days ago.

Got done with work after few meetings and then hit the Best Bead Show. Wow...very different show than last year. The equipment and actual lampwork sellers were down and the peal/semi-precious was up. Not what I wanted in that show. I still spent some time but I made a few purchases from Softflex and I got 2 pendants and a bead set.
Bryan Kitson - Borosilicate Glass Art and jewelry I got the one called Eye of the Storm.
Keysha Koy - Handcrafted Glass Beads, Pendants and Jewelry
Robfin Poff - Who I got the Ravens at last year

All good. Then I headed home, got mel out of the shop, dropped the truck off at the dealership, got home and started in on the silk painting. It was not my best job but hey, its a fighting banner...its gonna get trashed. I finished that and visited with Sir Stefan and then went to get dinner from viva. Got home, had grub and then failed in my two attempts to put the cording on richard's coat. 1)I crocheted too thick of a cord for use and 2)I tried ribbon and I couldn't get the needle to go through the thickest layers. I'm calling a truce and figure I can get some help from ari at the war...cause this is ridiculous. I then chatted with Gallant who was over to work on tent poles and then made a big cup of tea, honey and rum. Mel and I watched a bit of TV before bed and then it was fast asleep. Had to take mel to work since the truck is at the dealership but that is all good. I got to work on time and now am ready for the day.

After work and the picking up of the truck it shall be packing and laundry...with a bit of putting project stuff away, like the silk painting stuff etc and putting the main table away. I maybe even get to make my war chilli...that would be cool.

Work was productive and I almost got everything done that I wanted. Got a fair ways on a model and should be able to finish that up this morning if I can figure out where the screw holes will be going. Unfortunately, I can't make it reversible like the last time I did these parts and thats annoying but I can deal. Got home and got changed into biking gear. I waited for mel to get home and luved on obsidian for a while. Got going on my bike ride after some chatting about things and I did this 8.7 Mile route which was rather good. I only almost fell off of my bike during a sudden stop but both my feet came unclipped and I caught the bike before it completely fell. I got strange looks from a motorcycle guy though. Got home and drank water when gallant showed up to cast the A&S tokens I made with the grocery shopping. Got home and richard was over too. He brought sorbet. Got things put away and then I made a nummy salad and had sorbet. Amber showed up to look at all things horsey and I got pictures sent off, laundry on, beads made, bento made and mom's necklace partially laid out. Amber got lots of resources, richard hung out, galland got 137 tokens made and mel finished HRM belt. Went to be and made it to the 3rd section of dragon book. The sea serpent was interesting. I slept really well and now am ready for a fine day. I still need to pick up gift basket items from ari, go to petsmart and then hit the dollar store. I also want to get a ride in this afternoon since I'm gonna miss tomorrow with us driving up to pine.

Well, work was okay. I had way too many meetings and whiny people to deal with but I did get some stuff done and things off of my plate. We're in discussions right now to see when I can start building things again to help with numbers and what management is going to do. I've, fortunately, hit a slow time in work and am in the clean up stages of lots of things. I've just gotta keep an eye on lots of things but nothing too pressing minus the Italian Job. Was able to have roach coach for lunch and pete and I sat outside under the big patio and had a really nice and quiet lunch. Got back to work and well meetings progressed till late. Got out of work and then drove to Pima Welding Supply and got my tank exchanged. Got home and lazed about being too hot to want to do much. Finally motivated to make us a dinner of egg sandwhiches on pita bread with pasta salad while watching Teen Titans Season 1. Mel got ready for FP, I got my tank set back up and I made 25 beads over an 1.5 hour period. Then I sat watching TV and reading Anglo Saxon Beads by Brugmann.

Bead info )

So I made beads, read about beads and had a nice night. Got to bed nicely early but I'm really tired this morning. No idea why. Got some interesting news that I'm still not happy about but it will be dealt with. Today should be okay. I need to finish up a model, update a drawing and get some phone calls in to see if I'm driving to Phx tomorrow to see some parts. Plus I need to go shopping for gift basket stuff, food for the weekend and sundries. I need to also get on my bike and ride a good long ride (10+ miles). I'm sick of my jeans not fitting and I guess I need to up the mileage to compensate. I know we have a few people over tonight for A&S help and my house is a mess. Hopefully I can get mel to do the dishes and clean up the front room...We shall see. On we trudge.
