Well, I had lots of plans for this weekend and well, some of them worked an others just didn't. The trouble began on friday...mel and I slept in to very late (for us) and relaxed into a morning of coffee and toast and watching tv. I was working on his xmas socks and realized that I needed to take a break from knitting, got up and reached down to grab my bag of crochet and my back went out.

Yeah. No fun.

Been there before but unlike previous times I know what to do and am in much better shape. Unlike 9 years ago when I last had issues I can squat my body weight+ with just my legs, move my entire body with just my arms and in general have better flexibility. I was up and moving into the shower within the hour of it happening and was moving okay. Compared to the 3 days I spent on Mingo's couch on high doses of muscle relaxants this was a big deal. I did get in to see Glenn up and I have instructions to move as much as possible and keep things limber. Having a nice quiet evening at home was good and mel and I had dinner out, just the two of us, for sushi. It was nice and I was very happy to have a date with the hubby. We hit grocery shopping and by the end of that I was tuckered out and sore (this is a theme btw).

Saturday I did okay and kept moving as much as I could but by the end of the day and walking around campus after the concert for the whiskey bards things were sore. I managed to KIP on mel's sock almost the entire concert...its now almost 3 inches long. The concert was awesome and I really miss the guys all together in one place. Plus, I realized I miss signing with Simon...we had too much fun, he and I getting ready for Estrella last year.

I did hit a workout yesterday AM and that was good. I felt great but by the end of the day podling was making my tummy sore from pushing on the same spot and the back wasn't happy with all of the motion. I slept poorly cause my legs were aching from my workout and now the back hurts. Sighs, can't win for trying. And podling is now back to pushing on that spot. Grump. I think I was a bit too sedentary yesterday afternoon and that didn't help...plus the workout was hard but I took it slow and easy and it felt really good while I was doing it and after wards. I think I'm probably done running now though since the podling pushes on the bladder way to much to be comfy. If I didn't have that I probably would keep running but walking 2 miles should be just as good as running 1 mile and walking .5 miles. All good for me and baby. I did run an errand while mel was at the event and got home to a very tired boy (he started the day biking the monument with Malaius which was hard) and then fighting. I made us one of the best dinners I think I've ever made which was kinda cool. Saturday mel had made and smoked his own sausage and it was a perfect compliment to the vegetable laden spaghetti sauce I made. We ate and his comment was "this is restaurant quality, really good restaurant quality." That made me happy and we both collapsed into a pile on the couch with the girls to watch TV. Such a snuggly bunch we are.

So this morning hit and I was very, very sore. Almost like friday night sore and that didn't make me happy. I've been walking and stretching but I think I should have brought my heat pack in. My tired legs didn't let me sleep well and I think if I hadn't tossed and turned so much I would have been better waking up today. I'll try better tonight.

Work has been crazy and its only monday. Sighs. I'm pretty sure that next monday I'll be on travel to cleveland again so this is the week for me to finish lots of paperwork and I'm not sure I can do it all. Sighs. Oh, well. Time for a walk, a stretch and more typing.

So, to add to the drudgery of the day...which is actually going okay minus the "THIS HAS TO GET DONE" aspect of things...my hand swelled up again and the arm is swelling too...

The iburpofen is helping but ugh.

But honestly, things are better with nummy potroast noodly dish goodness and german chocolate cake. NOM, NOM, NOM

Well, tuesday was a stress ball, killing your coirkers and other people kind of day. I'm glad it was over. I'm thankful to a few good friends for helping me realize the light at the end of a tunnel is not a train...cause I could have sworn I kept hearing the horn dopplering down the way. But by the time I got to projects (about 715pm) I was very tired and the arm was very achy and sore and I wasn't going to give in to the beer. I've been drinking too much to deal with the pain and that isn't good for my figure...back on the wagon for me. Trying to get back into eating better too...been carb loading out of comfort and that is not what I need right now. I know how to fix it and when the arm heals to riding ability I will be very happy.

I managed to get the second pair of pants pleated...it took me a while..I was having major issues with pleating but it was the tireds and the arm. I got a shower and then heat packed my arm and read until mel got home. Then I slept very well. The arm has healed enough to let me sleep on my right side and have the elbow on a very squishy pillow for support. This is very good cause that means I'm much more comfy when sleeping which means I'm more rested when I wake up and I can do things like get up on time and get to work on time. Go me.

Today I actually have a routine of meetings and specific tasks versus the research things I have been doing...I luv research but not on technical stuff...well, not really technical but specs can be uber, uber dull...as can reports that don't tell me "why" something failed and they are failure analyses. Sighs. Anyhoo, I'm bound and determined to get things on a right foot today so I can go to arts night and not stress about the things I should be doing.

BTW, [livejournal.com profile] snotblossom I have a task for you...please email me or call me at work. This will help with the stress ball thing too.
ianuk: (pretty)
The arm was sore by days end, I probably did too much mousing and typing and well, that is my fault. Things are slow at work but I'm not complaining. I'm sure the stuff will hit the fan eventually and I'll be up to my ears in problems. So for now its smooth sailing and easy living. Got home and was grumpy from many things. I was a good girl and sat on the couch with a heat pack wrapped around my arm for 45mins not moving. The arm hurt more but I know that was probably blood moving where it was supposed to go.

I got out the laptop and worked the rest of the evening on our A&S entry for Estrella. I found some faboo information that I've been looking for which was great. I didn't type much but I marked out pages in the books I need to reference and that was good. I might get a paragraph done or so today in between things since its in my brain.

Other things that have been in my brain:
She Wants Revenge - Sister )

Billy Joel - Pressure )

Both of those have been running around in my head. Not sure why but they have.

Tonight after work I'm gonna put a movie in the laptop, sew and do laundry. Exciting no? But that will be the last of the Estrella Sewing done except some buttons on my old fighting coats. All good.

Well, my doc was awesome as always. He says I need to ice it and take ibuprofen. They took xrays and I get a sonogram of the tissue next week. The nurse has her "stomach flip" when she saw it...guess they aren't used to seeing girls with bruises.

He told me to do no lifting and let it rest...and it will probably be a few weeks before its better. We shall see..

He did say if my swelling got worse or my hand went cold I get a trip to the emergency room. He said all that I've been doing is good but I need to rest it. We shall see how it goes. I'll keep it rested this weekend and take my meds etc. Next week we'll have the results of the xray and the sonogram.

I got some things done at work and checked a few things off of the todo list. Got one of my major goal projects for the year going with some momentum. In the afternoon my arm swelled some more and I called the doc. I get to see them today after work. I got home exhausted but couldn't fall asleep. Got groceries and that was a chore. I was good not using the arm to get things but manhandling the cart that was loaded down was not fun. Richard was awesome and helped me get things unloaded. I sat down exhausted to watch a bit of tv and scanned in the books that arrived from amazon. Then the power went out...in a very freaky way. I thought I was having a siezure since things were flashing for a bit. Richard came in from the shop and the whole neighborhood was out. Now this was my second power failure of the day...at work we were out for about a minute.

What the heck is going on? No one seems to know. Though I think the power went out before the time stated.
But I finished working on my webpage a bit and then snuggled down in bed to read by candle light. About 930 or so the power kicked back on and I took a shower. I didn't want to use up the hot water before mel got home from VH...who had power btw and I called to check. BTW, if you have an non-cordless phone it still works, it doesn't matter who you have for phone unless you have vonage.

I got back into bed and read until mel got home. I'm currently reading more Stephanie Plum, number 6 now...and boy are they fun. I need to get my 50 books in 2009 working... this will be my second book for the year. I'll just have to see. So, today is FRIDAY. I'm making kindergarten lunch for dinner (sloppy joes and cheesymac) and we game. That will have happen after the doctor and I pick up some buns...cause I forgot them on my list. We'll see what the doc says...probably rest and don't use it.

Work was sucktastic with server issues...then it got better cause I kinda got things done. I got home about an hour later due to work, getting a scrip and then getting my eyebrows done (note to self...stop waiting 3 mos..it won't hurt as much). Then it was home to make banana bread, work on A&S stuff and relax. Well, while I was making banana bread, got a plea for egg salad, when I commented we didn't have any eggs mel was placated and then I realized I needed eggs for the bread. Sighs. Luckily, [livejournal.com profile] richarddbrewer came to the rescue. I finished making the read, made egg salad and barely got anywhere on my a&S stuff. But we trundled off to kung fu. It was a good class but I think I pushed too hard. I got a stitch in my side during the kicking drills. So, I stretched out for a while, drank some water and got back into class during the self defense drills. I was better for a while then when I was working on staff form I got dizzy. So, I stopped for a bit. Class got let out and we moved over to the other room so the kajukenbo class could use the main room and I got assaulted with a big hug and kiss by a guy. It turned out to be Roland's brother...but it was funny cause while I was in class I was watching him change in the hallway, jake saw my expression and I mentioned I was watching the floor show (grin!) Funny guy.

Went through one of my other forms and then I was done. Got home and read some more research and kept wondering why oh why can't everyone talk in the same language about the same subject? Sighs. But I was able to get most of one documentation done until I put in some figures and write up the section about the end. Its all good. Went to bed later than planned but that was okay.

Today shall be much paperwork and digging into some of the manufacturing db for research on the failure....it was our little gyro...sighs. Then it will be a bike ride when I get home from work and then A&S projects until I go to bed. Oh, and I'll make dinner somewhere in there and we'll finish packing the trailer too. Plus today is Virtual Friday...which makes things all good anyway.
ianuk: (bike)
So the bike ride was okay yesterday but I don't remember if I chatted about the rock I hit or not. I was cruising down wilmot going 18mph and I look out a head of me as usual and then I look down barely in time to see a huge chunk of asphalt sitting in the middle of the bike lane. I try to maneuver around it and the front tire hits it but I miss it with the back. My right hand took a big jarring shock but I stayed seated and the bike was no worse for wear. So, I was just telling my work husband Pete about this and I look at my right palm and its bruised...sighs. The things I do to myself. No wonder it was still hurting..especially after all of the fine motor control stuff I've been doing yesterday. Sighs.

Well, my bag is packed and things are a go fro my trip. The weekend was a whirlwind of too much in too little time. Friday was ducky but it was good in the end with a nice gig by East2West. [livejournal.com profile] scribe_ari and I had fun dancing, having good food and relaxing to the tunes. Saturday was an early morning but things kept getting delayed...no idea why it just ran for a long day. We made it to the revel in good time and had a very nice time. Good food and chatting, a rendition of the SCA choir and lots of dancing to watch. I was tired and we went home a bit early. Got to bed on good time after showers and I was sleeping very comfortablly when I woke up to mel shivering next to me.

Well, needless to say he was a sick baron and was tossing his cookies every few hours. We're not sure if it was the flu or him just not eating enough the day before but he was sick. I made him peppermint tea and he eventually fell asleep on the couch so at least one of us could be functional. I got up early on Sunday and got things going and we were on site just on time for opening. Medric was great and had the trailer there very quickly and with lots of out of town help the pig was up and things were ready when everyone else started showing up. Fighting was brutal and fun and I did well. Though it was a bit hard to breath after tymora landed on me during the redoubt battle. He was trying to knock santiago off his feet and santiago wasn't going to see that happen. I was already dead and laying under my shield when tymora charged, santiago sent him airborn. Tymora was saying "wow this will hurt when I land" as he was flying through the air and when he landed he said "wow that wasn't bad and then he realized he landed on someone and that was me. Peoples elbow to the ribs. I sat out the bridge battle cause well, breathing was good. Luckily I did cause it was supposed to be a 15min res but it turned into 30mins and I called the last res and last man standing. It was a good day. Got folks ready for court and got mel settled. He hadn't hurled all day but was looking peeked. We sat through court trying not to fall asleep not due to boring court..just exhausted.

Things progressed and many fine folks in our barony got awards and then Duke Craven got up to present 1 of barony Atenveldt's war walls and he was expounding on the fact that Knights can get things done when Tir Ysgithr was waiting on Dame Fiona to get things done...thus knights are better than laurel schtick started. Well court continued and at the end Eduard called for all of the populace to move out from under the pig to give room for the wrastling match that was about to commence. My poor husband, exhausted removed his coronet and medallions and trudge to the center of the ring. I could see by his facet that all he was thinking about was "I hope I don't puke on craven." HRM Ed bantered with Craven over how things should be handled and he had an idea that would ease this competition to equal ground. He called the Chivalary before him, took the solid sterling silver chain from around his neck and told my husband that at estrella on friday after the royal feast there would be a vigil for him and then on saturday his would give the answer that was to be expected of him for an offer of knighthood. The knight carted him off through to the back of court and I was crying and Asa was crying and I was worried he was still gonna get sick with all of the back beating and hugs. Court ended and Baron Charles was kind enough to escort me out of court and then I latched on Ivan for good hugs and more tears.

After getting the pig and stuff into the trailer with lots of good help by folks including Connor we got home tired and sore. My left leg took a good glaive or spear shot when it was fully flexed and stiffened up mighty fiercely during court. At home I iced it after the trailer was taken care of and Gunnar his boys were over to pick up the left over tokens from Southern. Got going on my laundry, made us dinner (mel ate a good helping of broth and ramen) and then we watched Ace of cakes. The phone rang for a few hours with various people, mel took a bath and was curled up in bed about 8pm while I was desperately trying to find stuff to pack for my trip. I managed only 20min behind my personal schedule and I was in bed at 9pm. I kept waking up and having awful dreams but I guess that is normal just before travel. I could have slept quite a while more though this morning. Well, time to hit meetings. Ugh. I have to be out of here at 1115 to get to the flight on time.
